I’m a very simple man, I see floberg posts… I watch, I get inspired to keep on my training plan, then I run And rinse and repeat! Crush it at Chicago!!
Flo you have this - been following you since running took you - I am flying from London for this, my six star. A-goal sub 2:45, and get top 30 in M50-55 age group. You’ve been a real inspiration - seeing your drive is sweet, it pushes me on. Hope to you see there
Chicago is definitely shaping up to be the thing I’ve been most hyped for all year 🔥 Gonna be so epic seeing all the amazing content to come out of it 😁
Best of luck in Chicago! I love my Coros predictor as well. I had the exact same prediction as you 2:29:37 (how crazy!) and I ended up running 2:32:59 in Berlin. However I had to slow down the last 3km due to quad tightness. I think you can smash your goal and I look forward to tracking you man!
En route from the uk - appreciate all your insights about the race and enjoyed following your training. I ran sub 3 in fall ‘22 and have since had 2 years of on and off injury which has led to missing London and Chicago ‘23 and Boston ‘24. Thrilled to be on my way to my third star finally. Aim will be 3:15-3:30 and to enjoy it! Hope you have a great race 👊
Go for it Eric. I finally ran sub 3 last weekend after 17 years trying and when i cramped up at 23 miles i was thinking about what you said, if not now, when. You've done the work so you've earned the right to go sub 2:32.
just started watching your journey this week and I love all of the content that I've seen. GOOD LUCK IN CHICAGO. I love the way you seek to love your family well amid a grind of a running schedule.
Perfect timing, just got out of work and just saw your recent post. Your ready Eric, its race week and the anticipation is killing me. so excited for you, give it your all. Update on my injury, I'm able to run a bit this week, still have the knee pain but its bearable to run a 9:30 pace for now. Not running CIM anymore, but hopefully Ventura Marathon in Feb and LA Marathon in Mar. Wish me luck in the build
you're about to cook my man! it's so cool to see your progression. i dont run much anymore but i get excited to see what your marathon time is gonna be!
Floberg got a couple of playoff games a year! You got years and years of ball games, recitals, school plays, and family movie nights ahead of you. Crush 💪🏼 for them
move the shake out run closer to your boys play off game? you could get a really good feeling being there for them and that could have a positive effect on your running?
This is a superb video, thank you for mentioning the forecasted wind speed and direction (and how that affects certain sections of the race course). I will keep that insight in mind for the future!
You got this! One idea for future training runs, definitely not this week, is to mix the flask super strong (3-5 scoops) and then take water freely. I like that so I’m basically decoupling carbs/sodium from liquid.
My carry on bag for the plane is literally just race gear and 2 days of carbs. Leaving Friday morning, and local departure to Ohare is 7hrs total. They can lose the rest of my luggage...but not my race gear and carb loading weapons! You sound prepared and determined. Now go execute!
just completed my first 16 week marathon training block and got a 2:49:15 in my debut Full Marathon This Passed Sunday!! Got that Boston Qualifying time in one shot, im so relieved! Good Luck in Chicago!! Get that Sub 2:30!!!
What's you're PR for an all out mile? Would you consider making a video doing an all out mile after this marathon just for fun? I'd be very curious to know.
I have my goal marathon this weekend and already had a pretty solid plan in place. This video put my mind at ease - I already knew I got this, but now I’m ready to send it.
Ya know… you don’t have to consume a gel all at once 😊 I’m sure you have figured this out, but for others, think about how spreading out consumption of gel over time can help limit stomach distress. Also, timing that gel consumption before an available water station can help gently get those calories into your system vs the shock factor of taking a whole gel at once. Cheer to race week, love the excitement!
Man tough to miss the baseball game on Sat. Could you skip the shake out instead? Shake out seems possibly helpful but not that important, what do you think. The boys may say they understand but...do they really.
Gonna do my best to make the game! Context is key here though..haha I coached the whole season, and this game was not in the calendar. We found out day & time 2 days ago after I planned these events.
Wish you luck Eric! Just ran a windy twin cities marathon, and wishing you no head wind. Remember, you already have fitness, hard work, family and friends. You already won!
I mean this with all of the respect in the world - forget about the shakeout run, forget about social media, forget about your marketing obligations. Time with your family and your children’s big sports moments during their childhood are limited, and you’ll never get those back. Later in life you won’t be talking about your “shakeout run” with your children and your grand children - but you definitely might be talking about their big day that you didn’t miss.
Came here to say this same thing because I could hear the sadness in your voice when you said you’re going to miss the game.. Reminds me a little bit of the scene from Hook at the beginning when he misses his son’s baseball game. A shake out run is not important for your marathon success. If you feel you need to run to get the nerves out then do a 2 mile shake out on your own at a different time of day that doesn’t conflict with the game.
Appreciate your care and concern. It’s also Fall Ball, so it’s not the main season. We almost didn’t sign them up for it. I was head coach the entire season, and haven’t missed a game yet. I still will probably be able to make this one though. I just may be a bit late.
Second year in a row I trained for my first ever marathon - and the second year in a row I got covid right before the race. Have a great race for me, Eric.
Carb load is far better with potatoes. They hold in the stomach better than gels and powders etc. I find mashed potato with salt and a little butter is ideal for gorging on.
Looking forward to seeing you out there sir. Sub 2:30 is also my goal this Sunday. Maybe we find each other and get after that goal together. It’s the secret super power
Do you fold the Go gels in half and stuff them into those pockets? Can't wait for you to crush it in Chicago. You've got an army of digital fans pushing you through that head wind!

Sounds complicated tbh haha jk

Go get after it, Eric! Watching this training block series has me so jacked for my next marathon, and can’t wait to see how you go on Sunday! 🚀
Go get it my man. Cant wait.

Just replied to a few other comments about the context. Shouldn’t have said anything haha - it’s all under control. Thanks for your concern.

Race hard and have fun. Looking for to see how you go on Race day. You ready man!

You’re gonna knock it out of the park
Good luck for Chicago, let’s hope for the wind not to arrive until after the marathon, certainly cooler than first predicted
Go get it sir. 🎉

Do it!!
@ I did not do it, but came damn close and set a 15 minute PB in the process. I will run sub 3 hours next year if it kills me!
Just bringing carry on for the flight and sad I can’t bring my G1M sport but looking forward to Saturdays shakeout and Sunday morning!

100%
75% of the time we spent with our kids in our lifetime will be spent at age 12

Weird question: what brand is that hoodie from? great fit
"Excited" is definitely the word you used for having a rest day on our run the other day 😂 Good luck dude!

Dang man. So sorry to hear that
@@flobergruns Thank you, I already plan to do my own race. Until then I will distract myself with your awesome content :) Greetings from Austria

I remember you trying to break 3 hours, you have made some progress.
Looking forward to seeing you out there sir. Sub 2:30 is also my goal this Sunday. Maybe we find each other and get after that goal together. It’s the secret super power
If you see me in the corral, let me know!
Oh snap, mustache back. It's a done deal.
⚡️👨🏻
Where did you film this! Doesn’t look like Chicago at all! Good Luck my guy!
Back alley of our local coffee shop ⚡️
Is there a Chicago Marathon app where we can track Eric?
Do you take an anti-diarrheal medication before the race? e.g. Imodium AD. Just to make sure the gels don’t cause you to have a BM during the race.
Does anybody know how I can find an actual good marathon coach.
Quick Q. 👋
do you gain weight carb loading?? I know it’s a common issue.
how do you handle it if so?
The performance benefits of a proper carb load outweighs the little extra weight you're carrying on the start line :)
I think I may gain a pound or something, but yeah, I think the benefits far outweigh the minimal weight gain.
Do you fold the Go gels in half and stuff them into those pockets? Can't wait for you to crush it in Chicago. You've got an army of digital fans pushing you through that head wind!
Yup, long-ways to get them to fit in the gels pockets.
Im predicting 2:30:21
That’s basically Cyrus’ prediction too
4-5g/lb
grams pr. pound
america you can do better
Let it rip. 🫡
Good luck Floberg
