  • Curious how to make your first seamless repeat in Procreate? Or are you a Procreate pro interested in learning from another artist’s process?
In this workshop Spoonflower artist Amanda Houston shares how to design a seamless repeat in Procreate, including how to test the pattern’s repeat right in the app. Use this method over and over again to design patterns that you can save and upload to Spoonflower directly from your iPad!
    You will need:
Your charged iPad with the Procreate app downloaded
An Apple Pencil, charged and paired with your iPad
    -------
This workshop jumps right into creating a seamless repeat, so it will be helpful to familiarize yourself with these basic Procreate skills first:
    Creating a color palette: procreate.com/...
    Transform: procreate.com/...
    Snapping: procreate.com/...

I took 2 years of classes in textile design/surface design 25+ years ago, when it was all done by hand. It is amazing to see it all made so easy to do on an iPad.
•There is so much more flow to the design process to be able to work this quickly, and test the results immediately.
•Also designing a collection (say, toothbrush holder/water glass/soap dish) would be so much fresher, not get that overworked look, because you can scale, repeat, and move any element or group. How fun.
•Thank you for sharing Amanda’s brief intro with us. I can see why it would be good to take a whole class with her.
•I’m new to Spoonflower, and ProCreate, and seeing this makes me want to try to make something custom there. Thank you.

Thank you. This was helpful, but difficult to share the screen with Procreate & RUclips. I paused the tutorial and would work on the pattern. I so wish the iPad was larger than the largest!😂❤

This was such a helpful video! How do you ensure that your file is clear enough to upload to Spoonflower? I noticed when I uploaded mine, it looked blurry.

How do you create a repeat for a complicated design.

      Same exact steps.
The complexity of the shapes doesn’t matter. What matters are the way you clip them on each axis (left, right, up, down).
