I remember in 1999 getting my monthly issues of Wrestling-Figures toys magazine and the mail and seeing the were starting to sell replica championship belts.. The first belt for sale was The Big Gold Belt for $500.00 dollars I believe and immediately ordering it. It came after 6 months during the last month of school, and thank goodness because my classmates and teammates thought I was lying about ordering it. That beautiful belt came and a box than a white zipper sack, everyone wanted to hold it and take pictures with it. I know me and others like me were the first to start this trend, and now decades later when I see Wrestling and non-wrestling fans with championship belts collections, it brings a genuine smile to my soul... 💯

The 4mm WCW version is the most classic and much more detailed.

To me the difference between them are, WCW World Heavyweight Championship is flatter than the WWE World Heavyweight Championship which is elevated. There is also the difference in the designs of the plate.

Funny how I got so much hate and flak for choosing the WCW Big Gold over the overrated Crumrine version. The Crumrine version is legendary. However, I dislike the dull plates and brown strap.

I already have a Big Gold that I got from Fandu. Getting another one that has the nWo Spray Painted on it. Its gonna be signed by Hollywood Hogan! How thick are the plates on the spray painted belt? Is it 4mm?

I'm holding out hope that they do a proper update to WWE one in the same style as the Crumrine one they did this year. If there's nothing announced next year, I think I'll just get the WCW one and have it releathered on a a WWE style strap, cause that still beats the 2mm version.

Nothing on those belts have been "etched". Those are stamped zinc plates. LOL That's also not leather. It's vinyl over foam and cardboard. And the original Big Gold wasn't etched either - it was carved. Literally hand-carved out of a plate of German Silver. The letters, globe, crown, and wrestlers all had to be braised onto the plate. The letters were originally all hand-cut with a jeweler's saw to be made. And the original was also dual-plated. The all-gold looks legit, don't get me wrong, but THESE two belts are woefully inadequate - IN MY OPINION. That's why I was excited that WWE Shop now (sometimes) has the "Shop Crumrine" that we've all dubbed "the Shoprine". I got the 2nd version a few weeks ago and it's pretty amazing to look at. I'm sure it's a cast belt, but it sure looks like it was carved. The 3D on all of the artwork is great. If you love the Big Gold Belt, keep your eyes open on the WWE Shop for when the Crumrine shows back up. I'm glad I pulled the trigger - even if the strap has a strong chemical smell. Now, if only I could get a Ric Flair nameplate for it...
