They could give storm more crit and pierce to try and offset fire's damage. So storm could still be that high damage school that pierces through everything and fire can just wittle away at enemy health if they have too much resist.

The problem is though is that critical is not as useful. I remember once they tried to sneak in an update for critical and it caused such a major uproar that they changed it back so that everyone crits again.
Fire should 100% be nerfed in some areas or Storm should be buffed in some areas. If storm is weaker and has less health there’s basically no point to play Storm especially late game. You are completely right about this and I don’t know how other people haven’t pointed this out
luckily kingsisle at least seems to slightly be recognizing this, since in the latest gear storm has higher damage again, but there’s definitely still some unbalance from levels 100-150
Also the crit update nailed storm in the coffin. Storm main focus was damage, high base damage, and critical. Every school could crit, but storm did it the best. Since the crit update it has become a way less powerful stat and damage outbeats it as a stat. Fire has better damage, better health, more utility. While storm lost it's crit niche. Storm is a poor man's fire in max lvl content.
I feel like KI could try to really revamp the game to help restore school identity because it feels a lot like they are trying to make every school able to fit many roles. I’ll give some examples: Fire: make almost all of its spells OTs but higher total damage (dpp) than storm Life: right now it is too easy for off schools to jade so maybe buff life-only gear’s outgoing healing by say 40% and nerf heal-per pip on all healing spells by say 40%. Then the overall heal is the same but at least life is better than others at that role Death: Make all of their hitting spells drains, maybe increase damage and reduce the heal back to say 25% Myth: increase the amount of hit and stun or hit and minion spells Ice: increase hit and shield spells (Athena for myth should be ice spell) Balance: This is crazy but what if balance damage was completely removed from gear stats. Instead of balance damage gear would be universal damage and that way balance players can very easily hit with off school spells and fit better into their identity. Storm: maybe a bit more damage
I hate my dumbass phone for getting rid this comment; but here it is in an extent. I for the longest time think that wiz needed a turn order system more than what it is. I think that the crit as a stat should affect the attack order in a fight. How this would work is that if you are using a support move then the normal turn order would go as usual; but on the turn the offensive player hits; the critical of them and the mobs or boss attacking on the other side would be factored in an order where the entity with the most crit attacks first, and then the second most crit entity, etc. (If the player has high crit they would most likely go before the boss and mobs; with average crit the boss would go first, then the player, then the mobs; or if the player has bad crit they would last). Why do I utilize crit and not damage? Because it better bridge the gap between fire and storm on an offensive front. Because with how the system works now storm gets an extra 2 RNG % damage of their crit multiplier. And if they want the two schools to be offensive but not one to be a bootleg of another; they could make fire have crit close to that of balance and death and make storm have its current damage ratio to fire. With this system; if you have super high damage, you are nice but you are slow. In super difficult fights people would probably say things like this to a fire “You have nice damage, but what would be the point if you hit last”. In the case of the storm it would be something around these lines “You are very quick; but in this situation it would be better to have someone with more strength”.
Burning rampage basically represented all I’ve ever wanted for fire. For me damage over time is almost always absolutely useless in PVE besides specific bosses. In pvp it’s MUCH more useful to the point where storms suffer now because people just spam shield. I don’t want 3 round over time spells removed but I think for example fire dragon should just do the full overtime a round after you hit. Because as a fire your always gonna use bull at this point. Main hit spells will always be king for pve content. But having a one time overtime definitely does a lot to make fire have there own identity and have storms be the main hitters.
i agree i feel that they need to bufff the other schools because lately ive noticed ive had to do a lot of boss battles solo because there is no one to team up with storm i feel they need to make them want to use spells like bugs and storm lord and not just temp but also they need to do that to most of the other schools people tend to hang on to one spell
fire's 7 pip is the weakest of all the hitters. the way the game is played right now is primarily giant hits on round 2. storm and myth are just straight up better hitters. fire damage at 150 is about 170% storm damage at around 150 is 170% and myth damage at 150 is about 165%, both storm and myth just simply have more upfront damage when 1 shotting mobs. fire is weak
since dragoon gear, fire is getting way more damage in the gear than storm and the damage gap in fire and storm keep increasing, i show my og friend about the new fire and storm lemuria gear and they think it is absurb
I’m kind of glad they didn’t make every spell attack over time because sometimes it’s nice to hit everything in one go right away. So I personally think it’s pretty balanced. You can choose to attack over time if it’s better or do a singular hit if it’s better
My main gripe with fire and why it's felt a bit lackluster compared to storm is that DoT doesn't scale with traps, so feints or any other trap only impact the initial hit. It makes things like Rain of Fire just completely inferior IMO. I don't play PvP so perhaps it works better there.
Fire is the best all rounder school, yes might be a bit unbalanced. But it is no where close to broken like how some schools where before 150. Fire is still in a decent spot because damage is their niche and storm has crit. For storm to pick up crit needs to be more useful. Storm is still best hitter because of the combo of their damage output and their spell's ability to dump most of their damage in one hit especially their aoes.
Something that concerns me about this is that by kingsisle effectively characterizing schools now by the state they get from gear as opposed to the mechanics their spells have to offer, is concerning. It’d be really cool to see fire focus on building damage by stacking DOTS, like an example being a fire mechanic where for every DOT on the opponent, the damage of the DOTs increase by 1.2x, then 1.4x, then 1.6x, etc. this would effectively make fire a great hitter with a different fighting style, and definitely should not be a pvp mechanic however as it’d definitely break the game. I like to think that storm should focus on destroying shields and hitting asap for massive damage, having the drawback of low defense, so maybe storm could have an interesting mechanic where when the opponent shields they get a small damage buff on their hit called “static”, which effectively applied a boost on the opponent for 1.1x and increased by +.1x for every shield that’s broken in that single hit. This would encourage storm to be incredible at wrecking shields. Once again though, this would not be a PvP mechanic for obvious imbalance reasons. It’d be very cool to see all schools have built in mechanics installed to make them truly unique, especially schools like myth that have a pve crisis due to their entire minion mechanic becoming completely useless past level 50
@@GearMasters988 I agree with this, every school needs a certain gimmick thats unique to their school, the idea of fire stacking dots and maybe even exploding them all for huge damage seems great, so they can actually keep up with storms instant damage.
Love your videos and activity man, keep it up! I've been thinking about jumping back into the game lately, I haven't played since I was a kid. Your videos are really helping me get a good headstart.
The issue isn't damage. Every school nowadays is able to hit pretty damn hard if you decide to glass cannon. Balance, life and even ice in some circumstances can hit and be just fine with the right setups. The issue is that schools are no longer forced into their roles. 4 out of the 7 schools can play pseudo healer, 5 out of the 7 schools are proficient at hitting, and every school except storm can hit 10k hp and play a "tank" (if that's even a thing in this game). For some reason, as a player base we are OBSESSED with damage. I'm not going to lie, as a level 100 storm with 130ish damage, 130 is more than enough to kill anything with a few blades. Combat needs to focus less on your damage vs your enemies' health. We are already at the point where a double bladed storm can dish out between 15-20k damage which is more than enough to kill most bosses. Combat needs to focus on things like AI changes, player restrictions, and cheats. Unfortunately, I believe w101 is at the point where their combat is going to be very difficult to make immersive and engaging; it was always meant to be a game that kids could pick up and play. In addition to the issue of identity is that there is a lack of playstyle diversity. You either hit, or you support. There is no third class like most MMORPGs have. Hell, even new world had dps, healers, tanks, and supports; all of them were necessary to clear even the low level dungeons. KI needs to seriously amp up the difficulty on their dungeons and bosses and/or implement some game changes that actually force players to strategize. One of my biggest pet peeves with wiz is that there are no repercussions for dying in a fight. The amount of times i've heard "just flee and come back" is sickening. What the hell is the point of bringing together a group of people with different skillsets and strengths when all you have to do for a quick lil HP reset is leave for 20 seconds? I'm not saying the dungeons have to be so hard that they get metagamed into oblivion but there should be at least some encouragement of team composition strategy. If KI is going to actually going to wake up, they need to recognize that their player base is no longer what they had intended. We aren't kids anymore, most of us are young adults. The vast majority of the w101 player base is able to handle complex combat mechanics that KI has been unwilling to elaborate on. I don't believe w101 needs to be some crazy WoW level MMO, but it needs something to make it fresh besides worlds and packs.

Fire is fine the way their is. Storm is still more powerful with the dpp. Anybody that doesn’t understand that needs to max both schools and test it out themselves. Call me crazy but it seems the only people that complains about fires are storm mains
Personally i think Fire should be just as much of a hard hitter than Storm is. Think about any mmo you've every played and automatically chosen a Pyromancer. Why? Because they hit extremely hard and are lots of fun to play. Storm on the flip side is just as much fun, and the reason you dont want them more balanced is because maybe one person wants lightning as damage rather than fire. So to me keeping them both as hitters gives player options and freedom of what someone may like over another school for hitting. The only thing I'd suggest KI doing is giving ALL schools the same amount of health for a little more secure comfort type of thing. They already have way too many stats to manage, and i think condensing it down like this would really improve the overall feel of storm and fire more. The only down side i can see, and this goes for any school, is the fact of the constant stat juggling act you have to do in order to get the most out of your desired school. The fault I give with storm is they are hitters, and the fact they are able to use something like Leviathan to take away 2 blades is completely rediculous because now we really are getting into whats truely wrong here. Either be a hitting school or be a utility school. You can't ever be both without having issues such as these discussed in this video, which btw is an amazing job on this, keep it up.

@@KaiserNoah Oh yeah I didn’t mean you but I have definitely seen through other comments and especially in PvP
The only useless school is ice lol
Do ice if you can lol
Guys i am so dumb, can someone of you explain me how crit works?
Don't give the the idea and have them ruin my boi
whats the gear or stitch he has on in the video and what the wand called?
that is the fire elegant hat, the atlantean robe from the atlantean bundle, the spiral cup boots from the spiral cup gauntlet. the wand is the karamelle gumdrop wand dropped from heidi.
bro you need to update there alot of problem with fire and needs buff and pip fix
Fire is definitely still really good don’t know what you’re on about.
I've always despised fire like people have despised Myth.
I didn’t realise people still play this game lol but here we are
There is no way this man said death fits more in a hitting role
Its true
@@MeItsnow elaborate
Death is quite good at hitting? Spells have high base damage and they have high damage stat. I was just giving examples of hitting schools and the ones i listed definitely fit more than life ice or balance.
@@KaiserNoah their base damage is mediocre at best compared to life with a 595 to 515 spell for like 5 or 6 pips then forest lord, death's prime is at scarecrow and lulu other classes get some better stuff then what death would get at shadow level.
@@KaiserNoah compared against fire, storm and myth it might as well just blade
Snowed?????
Yes...?
@@KaiserNoah didnt know it was still snowing in places i live in the tropics
