So, I started learning German many years ago basically because of Rammstein, but you’re the first person I’ve seen break down Lindemann’s lyrics in an appropriate way that I found interesting. Many thanks and I’m looking forward to watching more of your videos!

I can feel Till's annoyance having been subjected to other people's kids screaming on flights. It seems too much of a detailed scenario to have just been crafted as a subject for a song although I may be wrong.
    Great video, Dave! danke!

I felt I did a darn fine job sorting the lyrics, but your lesson helped me clear up a few of the pieces I hadn't quite understood. I can definitely sympathize with a passenger in a plane having a screaming child nearby. Ich finde dieses Lied sehr cool und ich genieße das Video sehr. Deine Erklärungen schaue ich mir immer wieder gerne an. Vielen Dank.

Another great song with a heavy sound. Watched it at least 5 times when it premiered. And, as usual, the imagery in the video tells a much deeper story than the somewhat cheeky, simple story of the lyrics. Thank you for covering it!

I've been learning German for a few years now, but am still VERY much a beginner. Sometimes it feels like I'm not making progress, as I'm concentrating more on revision and getting used to which words work in what situations, rather than learning new words. I listened to this new song a few times and deliberately didn't look up any translations - instead trying to rely mostly on my German language skills and being sure that you'd do a video like this where I'd be able to watch and have some of the cultural background I may not be aware of, as well as the words I didn't recognise. And I'm delighted at how much, after watching this, I now know I got entirely correct. It's things like this that confirm to me that my language learning is continuing, that I'm still making progress. Thank you so very, very much!

It had an obvious connotation about socialism. There are lots of symbols about it. Lenin, the Kremlin, the clothing, etc. I think it goes both ways.

My two years of college-level German allowed me to laugh at the song, but not to explain to my wife *why* I was laughing. This is an absolutely excellent breakdown and explanation. :)

I was waiting for this video since the first day the video clip featured. THANK YOU DAVE!
Also, the clip gives a completely different sense to the lyrics. By Till being a bullied child in the school and striking vengeance upon the ones who bullied him in the past, it gives a traumatic sense to the music, not just a simple "hate kids because they scream loud."

I wish I could've viewed your channel before or while taking my German classes. It would've made things easier to understand than going by the book. I thought my reading and speaking the language was decent. However I learned by hearing you speak and explaining the reasons behind the words I needed much improvement. Thanks this helped. I've only taken 2 semesters in German and could hold a very minor conversation. I think I've learned more here than in class. 😂

Thanks for this explanation of this song. Grosse danke! I'm much self-thought in german as my dad had satellite tv in the 90's. (Astra 19.2 east) And almost all of the channels was in german, so I picked many words and phrases watching different german tv-shows, I even remember watching "Anime @ RTL II" which showed different anime series in german and I loved it. So I'm very proud because I understand and speak german very well, even though I understand spoken german better than speaking it myself. I have been to Germany twice, once Triberg in Schwarzwald, the other time was in Berlin. I noticed how kind and helpful the german people was. I even managed to speak to some elderly people and showed them a map, because my and my friends were lost and I was the only one who could speak some german. I'm not fluent, but I do my very best.

German is a language iv'e found to not be all that difficult starting from English. Russian on the other hand that''s a different story... but it's always fun learning, I took a interest in learning both from music I liked the rhythms to. your break downs are great giving insight as to how things are phrased in normal usage.

8:52 is such a wonderful touch! I appreciate how you contrast modern German vernacular to the "poetic, outdated" German words while visually exemplifying the concept w/the San Francisco TransAmerica building standing astride the old iconic Columbus Tower building. Truly only a fully fluent english speaking German guy who knows and loves San Francisco and Rammstein as much as I do could have made this poetic, apt point. Wunderbar!

My full understanding of the Music Video/Song/Short Movie (Spoilers, obviously)
Till asks for the Judge's help to murder their classmates while sparing her as she was part of his bullying. Till then goes on to murder all of his classmates in a similar way to how he was bullied. (EG: He was trying to get away on the ladder, then he pushed one of his bullies off a staircase) His trial comes and she shuts down all evidence as "coincidence" and lets Till go. He then goes to the place of the start of the video (which I still don't know, it might be a train station from the sounds) and goes back to his family and hides his last witness, the Judge, by rigging her car to explode.
About the lyrics, it seems like it's a reference to how he hates "children", his bullies while obviously loving *his* kids and questioning his actions.

Till used : Die Fragen aller Klasse because it is in accordance with the theme of the video with a dash of irony. The story happens in a communist country, part of the USSR. Back then communist ( +Karl Marx, Lenin etc) used the word class quite a lot. And by class means people categorized into systems. I live in a ex communist country and if I use this word ironically, the old generations would get the joke.

not sure if i understand why you ask, but:
"es müssen meine sein" = "it have to be mine (my children)"
      saying
"sie müssen meine sein" = "they have to be mine"
      would mean the same thing.
he hates children that aren´t his.
      hope that helps somewhat

I want to add from my original comment. (where I mention that it's possible it's about his bully trauma makes him kill or do something to the child in the song and hunt down his bullies) From the new short teasers, I think my theory might have been comfirmed.

    • @nzarthal
      @nzarthal 3 года назад

After watching the short movie, I think that this was all orchestrated way before that. I think that Till had bribed the Judge and make her cover up his case and backstabbed her in the end to fully cover up his tracks.

Okay so the question I have is like... do the Video and Song actually tie in together or is it just a bunch of random bullshit on screen as angry man screams about how kids are ruining his plane ride? Like we got all these Russian Oligarchs and so on on screen, dudes being murdered, but like... what does any of it have to do with hating children? Is there supposed to be more meaning or is it really so vapid?

Hi there! I just saw the video the other day and the killer was his wife. He sits down to relax and notices a flash of red in her purse. It is a Pioneer scarf, along with his class picture all cut up. I'm not sure if she also attended that school. If so, they may have bullied her, too.
