An unlimited PTO system requires the right work and office culture. I have unlimited and I’ve taken about 3 wks this year. My boss instilled that in me early on and I’ve done the same with my DRs. I’m constantly reminding my team that we’re not saving lives here. As long as you’re responsible with your time around the close, the business will go on if you’re gone for a bit even if our sales reps and production folks whine about it 😅.
Sounds like awesome company culture. I’m in a full time temp contract with a company now, I do take time off as needed for appointments or pre planned travel however it’s unpaid time off. Now if they would hire me in as a regular employee (full time or even part time) I would get holiday/season day pay and a limited amount of PTO plus other benefits like health insurance.
I know I’ve said this before but I’m just so beyond relieved you get to be present and really enjoy your wedding now especially after listening to the podcast about quitting 🥹💕 you pour so much into everything you do and for this milestone you deserve this time. THE WEDDING IS SO SOON AH
Studies show that above a certain pay grade if given unlimited PTO people will take on average 2 weeks. But if you tell them they have 6 they will take 6. It definitely benefits the company.
hiii i’ve been a “silent follower” of yours for YEARS. I’ve watched you for a very long time. In October I left my first Post Grad job, granted i switched into another corporate job, and it does get better. I also want to say, I don’t watch you for accounting stuff/job stuff. I’ve always loved your personality and hobbies because I know we would be friends in real life. You love fitness, are creative, and are smart!! I know this is long but just wanted to remind you why I watch you! ITS FOR YOU GIRL🫶🏻♥️
Aw thank you so much for your kind words and encouragement. Seriously means so much to hear!!! appreciate you endlessly and please comment more often hehe 🤭🩷🥰
Hi Abby! First of all, thanks for sharing your feelings about quitting your job. It’s so hard showing you vulnerable on YT and I really appreciate it. I know that you’ll get your “perfect job” P.S Happy weeding week and happy honeymoon 🎉
Girl I use planet oat oatmilk for a long time past the expiration hahaha I feel like since it’s already good for MONTHS when you buy it, what’s one more month? Lmao
I am watching this today when you’re already married and it is so crazy to think about that. I hope you had the very best day! I am so excited for you guys :)
I get 16 days PTO total for vacation, sick days, whatever and I had to take a few unpaid due to my volleyball coaching job so I would prefer to have unlimited I think and I think taking 20 days is a normal/above average amount I know most companies start with just 2 weeks of vacation.
I have unlimited PTO and it def has a ton of cons. I felt weird taking a week and a half off (8-9 work days) even though I’ll likely only take 2-3 other days throughout 2024. Lots of people log on during their PTO too and can’t fully shut down because it’s different than being allotted days idk! My new post-grad job is in a very high pressure PR firm so I resonate alot with your thoughts and journey
We have nation wide mandatory vacation time of 4 weeks yearly. Unless you’re a teacher like me so you have to stick to all the holidays (we have a lot though haha like 13 weeks). Unlimited PTO seems interesting though! Is there a maximum?
i had unlimited PTO with my previous company and i loveeddd it but my boss was great and didn’t deny anything really 😅 but i also definitely didn’t even take a full two weeks. i wish i would have used it more!
I work at a big 4 and we have set PTO days (less then 20 though so you’re still ahead there haha) but we have unlimited sick time and whenever i’m actually sick i feel really guilty asking to take a sick day and i hate it i wish we had a set number of days.
woaaah that’s interesting to hear about sick days! I know a lot of other countries do unlimited sick days and I always thought it sounded SO nice. but I guess it is similar to unlimited PTO in ways so makes sense
Firstly, 🎉 I’m excited for you and the culmination of all the planning you did for the wedding. Take it all in as it will go so fast . In terms of the work comments what you said about senior leaders not having time to show you is not relegated to just Big 4. I have worked in banking most of my career and as I have risen in role it doesn’t change, just gets worse. Also the insensitivity of some managers to completely disregard your personal time by sending a teams message that late at night confirms all you need to know and yes that too happens in a lot of companies and is a warning flag. I have always had PTO which is a use it or lose it and I think it’s better than unlimited because it forces those selfish managers to actually let people leave the office and get a break free of judgement. I look forward to seeing where this next journey takes you! Congratulations 🎊🍾
We don't have unlimited PTO but we accrue it every pay period and it rolls over year to year and doesn't expire. Definitely feel like I'd intentionally take more time off every year if it did expire!
I would not want unlimited PTO. I love my job, we get a lot of PTO days but I can see my coworkers taking advantage of unlimited because we essentially have to cover for each other when we are out and that would just be a nightmare.
Congratulations on leaving the Big 4 aka hell on earth! You will find yourself having an entirely different perspective of it on the outside looking in - people that stay are naïve, thinking they have such a prestigious job but really your just a slave to the Partners.
Yay it's wedding week! Remember to take a breath. And remember such a beautiful moment for you and Griff! Love y'all 🥰
Thank you we love u 🩷🩷🩷

Yea that does sound like a great culture!! You’re right it for sure requires the right work and office culture

that’s sooo true, most of my managers would still be in calls and such on their PTO and it def makes it hard to fully disconnect so I hear you

I have a set schedule of PTO - and it rolls into the next year. Unlimited PTO is SUCH a SCAM.
so exciting that you're getting married in 4 days now !! also love the sweaters you got from nuuly especially the red and white ones!
Happy Wedding week!!!
I just know this is a phase of positive transformation for you and I’m so excited for you! You will grow so much from this.

Happy wedding week!! My husband has unlimited PTO and doesn’t use as much as I think he would if he was giving a specific amount.

oh for sure I see that!!
Not the slow-mo toast shot 🤣
tragic 💀

if i had unlimited pto i would take every friday off and have a four day work week
♥♥♥

one month out and I’m already like okay woah I cannot believe I did that for 2 years hahah but I’m thankful for the experience regardless! Thank you!!
As a teacher I get 3 personal days a year 😂
