Wait til you go to New York and it's £60 for the same thing! By New York standards this is reasonable! Nice for a one off if the steak is good. Stick to Hawksmoor in London, they know what they're doing. Cheers Gary
Hi Gary. Just want to let you know that my Dad is house-bound due to medical problems (and other things) and I've introduced him to your channel. On my day off I go round and make him some food and set up the laptop for him. He loves watching your posts while he eats as it reminds him of the days when he used to go out for a meal and a few bevs with his old pal Sid (now deceased) and makes him feel he's got out of the house for a bit. Thanks for brightening his last days up, pal. Great post as always. Steak looked well rested, no risidual juice flowing out. As u say, bit of greenary such as spinach in butter with a squirt of lemon wouldn't have been out place. Defo a special occasion place tho' for my wallet. 👍

Please tell him thank you and feel honoured. I truly wish you and your family all the best in the coming weeks, months and years. Thanks mate.
Gary, just wanted to say thank you so much for this wonderful channel. I stumbled across it a couple of weeks ago and I started to follow fairly soon after. I’m currently going through chemo for stomach cancer. For a very long time I couldn’t eat now that the chemo has started to work, and the cancer is almost gone I can eat again. So I now sit with a notebook and pen and write down your recommendations. Over the next few weeks we’re going to start visiting some places you recommended. Thank you
Hello Helen, Firstly and most importantly, I hope you make a full recovery as soon as possible so that you're back to a full bill of health. I'm delighted to hear that it's almost gone and you're incredibly brave for battling through it. Secondly, thank you very much for your kind comments, I'm glad I've been able to provide you with a list of places to go and some enjoyment and I'm very excited for you to try some new foods! Which places do you have written down if you don't mind me asking? All the best and thank you!
Hi Gary.. thank you so much for going there, I’ve been commenting on your steak videos and recommending goodmans since you started, I’m so happy that you took my recommendation on board. You are absolutely right goodmans isn’t an everyday place, it’s a place you to for a treat top notch steak, peppercorn is wonder….. brilliant review 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽😃😃
Hope you enjoyed it mate. I remember your comment and thought I’d give it a go before going to Hawksmoor and see what I thought! Much appreciated my friend 😊

Oh my heart sank when cameraman showed us the steak. What a huge difference a little garnish would have made. I really hope they watch your honest review and the comments. It would cost them pennies. Tasty looking food, unfortunately out of my league. Cracking review lads. 👍
Hmmm I actually disagree on that. I like to see the steak as the main event and everything else separate. As someone who eats salad with their steak(low carb eater) I prefer to add sides/greenery when I decide to. Especially as medium rare will still contain some juices after a correct resting time and I prefer my sides fresh and crunchy sans juice or dressing. It did look lovely so planning to take a visit 🥩☺️
Hi Gary and Mr Cameraman, a first class clip as always with some excellent close ups of the meat etc from the cameraman. The meal i feel was fair but lacked the wow factor that i expect for that kind of money. Australian steak, not come across that before, but it certainly looked like a quality cut. Next time you go for an expensive one my friend, you most try the Wagyu id love your opinion on that beauty. Chris.
Hi Chris. Very kind, will let the cameraman know. I think I agree with you, I enjoyed it but I wasn't blown away! I do need to try it very soon. All the best.
Once again Gary, you get what you pay for. Oh those chips looked delicious, and the bread rolls. Great show once again, you are so entertaining. Your face says everything. Off to watch golf now.
You made my Sunday afternoon I'm sitting in front of our open fire watching you latest vlog, another great review, a little but expensive for me and the plate looked a little bare and a little bit rare for me and a little bit pricey but the location and quality of the food probably justified the bill. Cheers Gary another gem.
Extremely enjoyable watching . I love the way Gary treats the sides and sauces with the same standards as the main part of his meal in this case a gorgeous looking steak. The chips !!! Superb.
As you said it was just a pity about the plate being a little bare due to no sides. It is something I always go on about is how expensive these places are ,but on this occasion IF there was a side included would have made the experience and value for money so much better. It is really the downside to a lot of up market restaurants that they try to squeeze every last pound out of customers. Also service charges are just a pure rip off. If the service is good they get a tip that is deserved, they have even started doing it at take aways .
Yes, it’s always “discretionary”. Look that up in a dictionary. At those prices the service should be superb AND enough to pay the staff a decent wage.
Another great video! Glad you had a good experience. I went to Goodmans for the first time this year, but was really disappointed. The service was OK. The wagyu steaks we ordered were around £100 each but were unseasoned and tasted of nothing. The sides were just OK. The interior was really nice but it wasn't worth the price. I'd much rather spend the money at Hawksmoor. If you haven't been to Hawksmoor, the best location (for views, etc.) is Canary Wharf and the best food is probably at Air Street. Canary Wharf Hawksmoor at night would make for some great video. Be sure to book the bar afterwards.
I think Hawksmoor seems like the more popular option. I've heard from many people (including some family members) that it's the best there is. Thanks for watching!
That looked top quality but I agree a bit extortionate and salad or vegetables should be complimentary. I would have complained about the cutlery though. That knife couldn't cut through butter! Great video
Yet another fantastic episode by Gary. You know the food is mouthwatering when Gary gets tongue tied. I've frequented at Goodman, their Steak selection is broad and encompasses a multitude of palettes. I especially like the selection of cuts and weights available. As always, loved the video and keep doing what you do best Gary.
By the comments a lot of people either never eat out or go to cheap restaurant , this price is nothing for central London , what it costs to make at home is irrelevant , food looks good keep it up gary
Whilst indeed expensive it looked scrumptious. Will you have a celebration video Gary when you hit 20K ? I hope so. Thank you for another wonderful review.
That steak was perfectly done and at last a proper serving of chips...not 7 thick things in a basket! I feel for that price they could put 2 tomato halves on there and it would really help give the plate a bit of colour. I agree with the 8 and I would certainly go there for a special occasion.
Fully agree Gary that it looked bereft without some greens, and really for the price you were paying that should be included. But at least you got a decent amount of chips unlike the apologetic offering at Harrods... You didn't mention the bread btw, was that good?
Been away for a few days so binge watching your latest videos Gary, last time I looked last week you had 12k subs and now it’s nearly 17k , 5k in a week is phenomenal but extremely well deserved!! Another great video mate! That steak looked fantastic. All the best
How was your trip Matty? Glad you're liking the recent videos and thank you mate. As always, thank you for supporting the channel in the way you do. Much appreciated!
Brilliant Gary, as usual a great video and review, you are my favourite, you make me want to go there, wish I were there, I look forward to every video you do x🤩
Evening Gary 👍what a superb steak with more than half a dozen chips🤣like you said a bit of greenery on the plate would have wouldn't have gone a miss especially as it's over 50 quid, half a tin of garden peas would've gone down a treat. Cost wise it is what it is but there's no denying that looked a lovely meal. Cheers mate✌️🍻
Another brilliant and honest offering, Gary. Thank you, as you said, it is a bit expensive, but it's not a place you'll be frequenting on a weekly or monthly basis. Went to the Toby Carvery in Worcester Park for lunch today, thanks to your video yesterday.
Nice clever touch the restaurant showing the meat available in the chiller as part of the decor, having no greens on the plate sort of makes you feel guilty doesn't it Gary, take care until the next one.
Great review as ever Gary i agree with some of the comments a little steep for the meal you actualy got but im sure it was good, yes i abosutley agree some greens should part of the meal, anyway cheers mate keep em coming
Great video Gary. Beautiful looking steak, very good portion of chips and the pepper corn sauce was lovely. Apart from the price I thought that was delicious. Like you said, these are London prices. Restaurant looked quality to go with the food. Many thanks for sharing with us 👍👍👍
Been there a few times, the food is spot on, excellent service, great ambience, but I agree with your 8 out 10. Had better steaks in London and in fact cheaper, not much cheaper, but cheaper. But it's difficult to fault them as everything is spot on, you drank water, but if you add a bottle of wine on top, for two people you're quickly paying 170 - 200£. It's not bad for London but still when every side is between 6 and 10£, the bill is racking up quite quickly. But another fantastic review, mate and have a wonderful rest of your Sunday. Speak to you soon.
@@GaryEats Blacklock was perfect as usual, did have a great dinner and went out for a few drinks afterwards, so I am a bit hungover today. But worth it, mate, well worth it. As I am off next week, don't mind a light hangover. 😂😬
Looks fantastic , love the video & Chanel. May I suggest , next year try my favourite fish restaurant in Essex Smiths Ongar also in Wapping in London. Best Skate ❤❤
Gary, myself and pals are going on Friday to thei Goodmans, we do it once a year around Christmas, we tend to get a few different cuts and share, its top end meat and the team really know what they are serving, Once you get into the wines then the bill jumps substantially.Glad you reviewed it and perfect timing, might have to try the Australian this time as it looked spot on. Cheers for the reviews, Toby Carvery one week , Goodmans the next.
If the service charge is not mentioned on the menu , then do not pay it . Feel free to tip as you see fit. If it is mentioned on the menu , then it becomes mandatory, and unless something is wrong then you are obligated by law to pay it.
Problems with service charges Usually, restaurants either leave the service charge entirely to the discretion of the customer or automatically add a charge to the bill. According to UK law, service charges added by the restaurant are entirely optional. If you aren't happy with the service or if you'd prefer to calculate your own tip, you can ask for it to be removed and for a new bill to be printed.
Nice video once again Gary. Phew that is a treat type of price point, but why not! Agree perfectly cooked for medium rare, at that price it would be sent back if they got that wrong! As I think I pointed out in one of your earlier videos, the bit I am saving to last is that crispy strip of fat ! / Your filming and audio is really very impressive - I like the camera shots. / Since the Elizabeth line has been available Reading to CW is so simple, so this is another added to the "special occasion" list. Mark.
Steak'n'chips.Cooked well. What else to say ? Honestly i thought the steak was more rare than medium rare.Chips enough to taste, but not count. Now,sides. If as a treat, and let's face it, a daily local its not.Yes salad or a good green vegetable would add something to the meal,as well as the cost😢 However as my late dad used to say " don't spoil the ship for half a pennyworth of tar "❤ Go for it😊 Gary you and CTP found another good looker in that eaterie. Classic food, simply prepared. Good service.I'll check on my AMEX card( son&girlfriend, up in town next week😊😮😢😂❤ that should cover all my feelings!! Until the next one Cheers 🥂 Allan&Family
Hi Gary Hope you are well. It did look an excellent steak, and first thing my wife said was ‘the plate looks a bit bare, without any garnish’ etc, and then you pointed out the extras that you have to pay!! The chips looked really nice. I see the bread rolls were complimentary! That’s good 😁..we agreed with your score.. Great review Gary. Take care buddy David & Angela x
I’ve eaten in Goodman’s in the West End before on several occasions, going back a few years. It was always incredible food. A bit pricey, but incredible. I also dined in Hawksmoor which has a higher profile, but the steak was really poor compared to Goodmans. If you want to treat yourself to a really good steak, I would always recommend Goodmans.
Found this Channel last week and it is easily become my favourite, Gary you're a genuinely lovely bloke, ao nice to see nowadays! Wishing you continued success (I reckon this'll take off in the same way "rate my takeaway" has) keep up the good work and have a merry Christmas mate 👍
Another quality review Gary. High end dining at a high end price. Don't worry though mate, the rate at which your channel is growing you'll soon be eating there every week! 😆 Quick question - do you think the English mustard was made in house or Colman's poured into a fancy dish?
Does the cameraman have a good hearty meal before filming? I just imagine him sat there with saliva dripping off his chin watching you tuck into these delicious looking meals. 🤣🤣
Great video as always, If you leave happy with what you have eaten then maybe the price tag is not so important its satisfaction. Yes expensive but as you said it was quality
its nice to have a treat meal once in a while gary .i took your advice and went to my local miller and carter for my daughters birthday , and we really enjoyed our steaks.keep up the good work mate .
If you want one of your videos to go VIRAL you should have done a Runner! But presume you thought the Steaks were too high! I like my steak like sex Extremely rare Why did Han Solo cry during his steak dinner? Because it was Chewie. The waiter asked me how I like my steak. I said rare. He said you're in luck, today's special is panda. What happened to the cow that refused to become steaks? IT was grounded. I cooked a medium-rare steak for my friend, and he said, “I like it Well Done.” I said, Thanks buddy. That means a lot to me! I was grilling a steak earlier and the smell of the juices made my mouth water. Got me thinking Do vegetarians have the same effect when mowing a lawn ? Waiter: How would you like your steak sir? Me: like winning an argument with my wife Waiter: good choice, rare it is. What do you call a steak that’s been knighted by the King? Sir Loin.
£36 for a steak that I pay £5 for in Australia. That’s expensive! Even taking into account you pay a premium for the restaurant experience! But great video yet again.
Perhaps a trade secret Gary, but does the cameraman get a lunch as well or does he just drool over your plate??🤤. Bearing in mind your lunch was in one of the richest square mile of finance on the planet I didn't think the cost was extortionate, but hefty all the same. Looks like you enjoyed it! 😃
Another sublime video You put yourself open to criticism when you visit these expensive places. However they charge what they can and I dare say in that location they could even charge a bit more and still not see a significant downfall in takings. A classy establishment that I feel personally lives a "little" bit on its name these days
Hello from Alberta Canada! Famous for our ‘Alberta Beef’. I’m sorry Gary but if I was treating myself to a once a year treat, my expectations would definitely be higher than the meal that was served to you. You didn’t mention the cut of beef but it looked like a run of the mill sirloin. It looked so sad sitting on a bland white plate with a side of fries to go with it. You obviously were paying for the ambience, atmosphere and location of the restaurant but certainly not for the presentation or quality of food.
As someone who’s been to Goodmans, far too many times, there are 4 things that you should order from the menu. Prawn Tempura starter Bone in, grass fed rib-eye (belted Galloway my pref) Truffled Mac & cheese Cookie Sunday Glad you enjoyed it. The steak is the best in London in my opinion - they use something called a Josper grill which gives perfect charcoal and taste.
@@GaryEatsYep. Not as good for me unless things have changed. The steak is UK only so not as much choice. Don’t think they use the Josper and sides/starters aren’t of the same quality for me. Others may disagree of course.
Hi Gary great review I agree a bit of salad on the side would have been nice. The steak looked so yummy. Keep the great videos coming I so enjoy them😃😃
Walked past this many times over the years, but never been in here but I do agree where was the greens or something along them lines? But did look very nice though, and seen many pics of it over the years and know people that have been there and said it is quality! Another top review!
Massively addicted to your videos at the moment - appreciate the time and effort you put in - have been very relaxing over the Christmas break. (Why don’t these fancy places stick a tomato or something on the plate?!)
I get what your saying, but it's a real treat and if your wages allow it then go ahead, it's relative to what you pay for a meal out according to your pocket. I've bought a sandwich out for £3 when a loaf is £1.50 , it hurts but hey ho,when your hungry🎉
Gary just found your channel Been going through all you’re old videos It is absolutely Suberb I’ve been a little bit down as of late and you’re videos make me smile Well done And merry Christmas Neil
Thanks for another brilliant video, Gary! I did feel like looking at the state that it was just a fraction undercooked for medium rare. I do totally agree with you though that they should’ve been some garnish on the plate just to make it look more attractive. I don’t agree also of having to pay extra for peppercorn sauce. That should come with the steak at that price and the chips look good. The options for extra salad seem very very expensive. As you said it’s for a special occasion because if you had a bottle of wine and some dessert and a bit of salad with it, you’ll be getting close to £80-£100 which is really expensive. Looking forward to the next video, brilliant stuff!
@@GaryEats Cheers, and totally agree with you that it should have at least some green, included in the price.... We usually go to Six by Nico and Boisdales, but might hop over and check out this place after your brilliant review.
Wow, a lone vegetarian main dish on the menu! I'd have gone for 3 portions of Mushrooms at £25.50 🙂 13.5% service charge. Guess somebody will see that and raise theirs to 14.5%. It's like a standing charge on an energy bill. You could have simply paid for salad though, rememeber, you actually paid £6 for your chips that everyone would expect to be included. You got free mustard 🙂 Mr Cameraman. great camera work and editing.
That food looked class, I would have no problem giving that quality more then a 10. I have been too similar restaurants, and the lamb shanks are utterly superb. Brilliant video Gary.
Great video and content as always, have you tried Omnino located in Leadenhall street in the city, amazing steaks, not cheap but worth the price in my opinion
I too was concerned when you made that first cut, I thought ooh the knife should be going through it easier than that. But, you then found it to be very tender, which was good. They wouldn’t put anything else on the plate as they want you to buy the (expensive) sides. I’m actually not overly keen on garnish, as it’s often rocket (which I can’t stand) or maybe watercress. I’ve been given a garnish on a breakfast before, which I think you had too, which is just odd ! As always an excellent and honest review. Thank you
The blade was serrated according to other much more knowledgeable people than me which made it harder to cut but we got there in the end, Karen. Thank you!
@@GaryEats as far as I’m aware steak knives are serrated, we have a set, to make it easier to cut through the steak, either way you enjoyed it which is the main thing when paying those prices
Great review. What’s wrong with Scottish English or the best Irish steaks?!! Very pricey. Great video. Witherspoon is looking even better!! Keep up the good work
Most of the diners there will be using their company expense account cards I suspect. May I suggest, whilst in London try the "Jugged Hare" pub near Barbican - a totally different dining experience
I think its a pattern from expensive steakhouses to serve you really generous portion of fries because its much cheaper for them to make and it compensates for the fact that the meat portion they give you might not really be enormous (and in your case it didn't look enormous indeed), thanks to the fries you feel full and are happy, and I woudl feel the same as well. But hey fries are super important to me as well
Hi Gary. I've only just found your channel and I'm going through all your videos. Really enjoyable and by the end of your reviews I'm genuinely hungry. Keep up the great work
Lovely meal there in a lovely place Gary, no doubt about that. A choice of a side to go in with the price would have made it easier to swallow, but as a once or twice a year treat its not that bad!
Ive not been to a Goodmans yet. Fifty notes for a steak and chips is a bit bullish for me - but im not a huge fan of steak. If i do go i will add the musrooms i think. Great review as ever Gary.
Interesting that one Gary.. yes it's expensive but like you said, as a treat, why not. A poorly octopus for chips is expensive but when you think about the portion good value compared to Tom kerridge in Harrods. As for the presentation, as you remarked, a bit plain looking.. a sprig of watercress would have given it a splash of colour.. just something missing so it kind of reminded me of your wetherspoons review. The main event looked pretty good though as a piece of steak and at about 10oz pretty much the right size for me. Keep it up you're doing great.
I find your channel is like being greeted by a steaming cup of tea in front of a warm fire after getting in out of the icy rain. It always cheers me up. Keep up the good work Gary.

Yes I will Stephanie. I'm still not sure what to do though! Thank you :)
That steak was perfectly done and at last a proper serving of chips...not 7 thick things in a basket! I feel for that price they could put 2 tomato halves on there and it would really help give the plate a bit of colour. I agree with the 8 and I would certainly go there for a special occasion.
You got that right Melanie.
Just found your channel Gary I love how honest you are,you are now my favourite food reviewer
Welcome aboard! Thank you mate, very kind 😊
He is the best by a country mile👍🏻
Fully agree Gary that it looked bereft without some greens, and really for the price you were paying that should be included. But at least you got a decent amount of chips unlike the apologetic offering at Harrods... You didn't mention the bread btw, was that good?
The bread was nice, not the best but pretty good. Thanks for watching!
Quality is certainly there, I would now consider visiting from this. As you said little yearly treat... Great review thank you
More than welcome. Please let me know how much you like it when you go.
@@GaryEatsit was great thank you, anything is better than work 😂😂 can’t wait for the next upload 😊
Glad to discover your channel. I loved the format of the video. This is the kind of video I was looking for. Will check out your other videos later.
Welcome aboard! Glad you like the video my friend :)
Great true honest review as always Gary, thank you mate.your one of the best on you tube.
Too kind Mark. All the best.
Only one of the best on RUclips. Bah. THE BEST

Brilliant Gary, as usual a great video and review, you are my favourite, you make me want to go there, wish I were there, I look forward to every video you do x🤩
Thank you Jassey. Extremely kind of you 😊
Looks absolutely gorjuss, thanks for another cracking video review 👍🏾🍽🍺
You're more than welcome!
Hope one day you have a show on cable you are a great host and i love watching your reviews
Thank you Brent. Kind of you but I don't think you'd want me on your TV all the time!
Nail on the head Martin. Best wishes to you and your family mate - thank you for always supporting the channel!
Another brilliant and honest offering, Gary. Thank you, as you said, it is a bit expensive, but it's not a place you'll be frequenting on a weekly or monthly basis. Went to the Toby Carvery in Worcester Park for lunch today, thanks to your video yesterday.
Thank you Seb. Did you like it?
It was beautiful Gary...
That's the answer I'm looking for!
Nice clever touch the restaurant showing the meat available in the chiller as part of the decor, having no greens on the plate sort of makes you feel guilty doesn't it Gary, take care until the next one.
Haha it does Gareth. A bit of veg won't hurt!
Another excellent review Gary thank you, congratulations on the subscription numbers too, keep up the good work mate.
Thanks Jason 👍 very kind of you!
Great review as ever Gary i agree with some of the comments a little steep for the meal you actualy got but im sure it was good, yes i abosutley agree some greens should part of the meal, anyway cheers mate keep em coming
Yes it was Lee, I agree mate. Thanks for watching and I'm up in your part of the world on Thursday!
Great video Gary. Beautiful looking steak, very good portion of chips and the pepper corn sauce was lovely. Apart from the price I thought that was delicious. Like you said, these are London prices. Restaurant looked quality to go with the food. Many thanks for sharing with us 👍👍👍
Thanks Andreas 👍 glad you enjoyed it!
You've hit the nail on the head Frank. Good to see you commenting again, how was Blacklock? Thanks for watching!
@@GaryEats Blacklock was perfect as usual, did have a great dinner and went out for a few drinks afterwards, so I am a bit hungover today. But worth it, mate, well worth it. As I am off next week, don't mind a light hangover. 😂😬
Wondeful. Enjoy your week mate.
At these prices thank God I left London years ago. At least here in the Midlands I can afford to eat out once in a while.
🤥🤥🤥
Looks fantastic , love the video & Chanel.
May I suggest , next year try my favourite fish restaurant in Essex Smiths Ongar also in Wapping in London. Best Skate ❤❤
Sounds great! Thank you :)
Thanks for showing us Gary. Way Way to pricey for me I'm afraid.
Looked really nice though, and maybe fit for that special occasion ?
More than welcome Paul. I completely agree with you!
Brilliant mate. Have an excellent time when you go. It's always different places on this channel!
Stunned that a foo-foo eatery like this would give its customers a serrated steak knife.
Thanks for another great review gary always look forward to them.expensive without any veg I rouldnt mind tho just for a treat
Thanks Julie. All the best.
If the service charge is not mentioned on the menu , then do not pay it . Feel free to tip as you see fit. If it is mentioned on the menu , then it becomes mandatory, and unless something is wrong then you are obligated by law to pay it.
Fair comment Jamie. Cheers mate.
Problems with service charges
Usually, restaurants either leave the service charge entirely to the discretion of the customer or automatically add a charge to the bill.
According to UK law, service charges added by the restaurant are entirely optional.
If you aren't happy with the service or if you'd prefer to calculate your own tip, you can ask for it to be removed and for a new bill to be printed.
Back in my day you would get peas and onion on the plate with the steak, especially at those prices 🎉
Oh yes!
Mark.
Really hope you go there and enjoy it Mark. Thanks for the kind comments!
That's a very well cooked and properly rested steak. No juices running into the plate.
Spot on. Thanks for watching!
You could tell that steak was properly rested. It was still snoring!!!
Just recently picked up on your channel Gary……really enjoying your relaxed style and honesty……a really good watch! Cheers, Kenny
Wow, thank you Kenny. Very kind of you mate!
Haha. Thank you Allan. All the best to you and your family as always.
Even testing the mustard, that's as thorough as a review gets!!!
Thanks mate!
The Gentleman Food Reviewer. Love Seeing The Channel Numbers Going Up Which Is Well Deserved!!!
Wow. Very kind of you Dan :)
Great review Gary....just makes me hungry watching your channel 🙂
Thank you Graham :)
finally!! a portion of chips that isn't based on the dietary needs of a sparrow. For big money, I'd like some decent dressed salad though
Lol. I agree Frank! Thanks for watching!
Hi Gary
Hope you are well.
Take care buddy
David & Angela x
Thanks David and Angela 👍 I agree with Angela's assessment as I thought the same thing. Thanks for watching!
If I want a really good steak in comfortable surroundings, I do it at home, I know some ppl love to eat out, but at those prices? I'd sooner starve
Fair enough Rik. I've heard that Hawksmoor is superb so it will be interesting to compare!
Thank you Oliver. Have a wonderful Christmas 😊
Another quality review Gary. High end dining at a high end price. Don't worry though mate, the rate at which your channel is growing you'll soon be eating there every week! 😆 Quick question - do you think the English mustard was made in house or Colman's poured into a fancy dish?
Thanks for that mate. I think the mustard may have been Colman's, I don't think it was made in house.
Gary, a true scholar and a gentleman! Great viewing and professional presentation.
That’s very kind to say, thank you very much, Bruce
Does the cameraman have a good hearty meal before filming? I just imagine him sat there with saliva dripping off his chin watching you tuck into these delicious looking meals. 🤣🤣
That's what i always think 😂
He does sometimes before or afterwards. It depends!
Love your content. Your review is as in depth as any i have seen. You will be my reference guide for London dining. Keep it up.
Thank you Michael!
Great video as always, If you leave happy with what you have eaten then maybe the price tag is not so important its satisfaction. Yes expensive but as you said it was quality
Thank you my friend. Completely agree 😊
its nice to have a treat meal once in a while gary .i took your advice and went to my local miller and carter for my daughters birthday , and we really enjoyed our steaks.keep up the good work mate .
Glad you enjoyed it Michael!
If you want one of your videos to go VIRAL you should have done a Runner! But presume you thought the Steaks were too high!
I like my steak like sex
Extremely rare
Why did Han Solo cry during his steak dinner?
Because it was Chewie.
The waiter asked me how I like my steak. I said rare.
He said you're in luck, today's special is panda.
What happened to the cow that refused to become steaks?
IT was grounded.
I cooked a medium-rare steak for my friend, and he said, “I like it Well Done.”
I said, Thanks buddy. That means a lot to me!
I was grilling a steak earlier and the smell of the juices made my mouth water.
Got me thinking Do vegetarians have the same effect when mowing a lawn ?
Waiter: How would you like your steak sir?
Me: like winning an argument with my wife
Waiter: good choice, rare it is.
What do you call a steak that’s been knighted by the King?
Sir Loin.
Lol. I'm not quick enough mate. Thanks for the list of jokes again Andy!
£36 for a steak that I pay £5 for in Australia. That’s expensive! Even taking into account you pay a premium for the restaurant experience! But great video yet again.
Fair enough! Thank you 😊
Perhaps a trade secret Gary, but does the cameraman get a lunch as well or does he just drool over your plate??🤤. Bearing in mind your lunch was in one of the richest square mile of finance on the planet I didn't think the cost was extortionate, but hefty all the same. Looks like you enjoyed it! 😃
Haha. The cameraman usually eats beforehand and he likes that. Thanks David!
I expect he pinches a chip or two😅
Another sublime video
You put yourself open to criticism when you visit these expensive places. However they charge what they can and I dare say in that location they could even charge a bit more and still not see a significant downfall in takings.
A classy establishment that I feel personally lives a "little" bit on its name these days
Thank you.
Of course, I try to do different videos and not the same all the time. Always appreciate feedback as well. You're most definitely correct.
I mentioned that it was Ribeye my friend.
As someone who’s been to Goodmans, far too many times, there are 4 things that you should order from the menu.
Prawn Tempura starter
Bone in, grass fed rib-eye (belted Galloway my pref)
Truffled Mac & cheese
Cookie Sunday
Glad you enjoyed it.
The steak is the best in London in my opinion - they use something called a Josper grill which gives perfect charcoal and taste.
Ah, I should have got your recommendation. I'm excited to try Hawksmoor as I've heard it's the best - have you been?
@@GaryEatsYep. Not as good for me unless things have changed. The steak is UK only so not as much choice. Don’t think they use the Josper and sides/starters aren’t of the same quality for me. Others may disagree of course.
Agreed it really is the best in London
Hi Gary great review I agree a bit of salad on the side would have been nice. The steak looked so yummy. Keep the great videos coming I so enjoy them😃😃
Thanks Helen 👍 glad you enjoy them!
ANOTHER GREAT VIDEO GARY LUCKY TO HAVE FOUND YOUR CHANNEL CHEERS MATE ❤
Thank you Kevin. Too kind mate!
Does look amazing, steak cooked exactly how i like it ❤️
It was excellent Nicholas!
Thank you so much Sam. Hope you had a nice Christmas.
Another spot on review. Regardless of the venue the Gilet always fits in ;)
Haha thanks Gary. Might have to get a new one soon, this poor bugger is worn out!
Aussie steak, a big no no, but looked proper lush!
Lol thanks Robert!
Looks lovely did you get the option for vegetables 🥕 keep up the great work 😊
You have to pay for them unfortunately. Thank you!
For that sort of money, I'd rather buy the raw steak myself and cook it at home as its not difficult to cook!
Of course.
Cmon chap if you ever want to lose your virginity you need to take girls out these kinds places, play the game big man
I get what your saying, but it's a real treat and if your wages allow it then go ahead, it's relative to what you pay for a meal out according to your pocket. I've bought a sandwich out for £3 when a loaf is £1.50 , it hurts but hey ho,when your hungry🎉
@@CheshireCat6639spot on. At least he got more chips 🤣🤣🤣
Agree. In Aus$ that’s pretty close to $100. Outrageous.
Gary just found your channel

@@GaryEats top man Gary
£39.00 profit.. Frozen chips, bought in sauce. £7.00 for onions!? Waiting staff should be wearing tights over their heads. Service charge for x1😂
Hi Robin. They're not frozen chips, that I can assure you of. Thanks for watching!
Thanks so much :)
Looks really good and one I will try, but should come with some green on the plate.
Edit: Posted just as you said about green/salad 😃
Hope you enjoy mate. I think you're spot on!
@@GaryEats Cheers, and totally agree with you that it should have at least some green, included in the price....
We usually go to Six by Nico and Boisdales, but might hop over and check out this place after your brilliant review.
Kind of you. Let me know what you think of it!
Love goodmans, their truffle chips are great and I like how you can ask to view some of the steaks from their boards before selecting one
Yep. Glad you’ve been and enjoy it!
Wow, a lone vegetarian main dish on the menu! I'd have gone for 3 portions of Mushrooms at £25.50 🙂
13.5% service charge. Guess somebody will see that and raise theirs to 14.5%. It's like a standing charge on an energy bill.
You could have simply paid for salad though, rememeber, you actually paid £6 for your chips that everyone would expect to be included. You got free mustard 🙂
Mr Cameraman. great camera work and editing.
I'll let the cameraman know your kind comments Steve. Free bread and mustard!
That food looked class, I would have no problem giving that quality more then a 10. I have been too similar restaurants, and the lamb shanks are utterly superb. Brilliant video Gary.
Thank you however I think Hawksmoor is better but only my personal opinion and thank you 😊
Great video and content as always, have you tried Omnino located in Leadenhall street in the city, amazing steaks, not cheap but worth the price in my opinion
I have not Gaz. Maybe one to add to the list after Hawksmoor?
Love Goodmans, not been to that one, but the one on Maddox St in Mayfair, lovely!
It was very good quality but a little bit pricy in my opinion for what you get. Thanks for watching!
Keep up the good work
Thank you very much, John
Beautiful! Gary what's the best steak you had in London and why? Was it this one? The Coal Shed? Hawksmoor?? Would love to have your opinion!
The best one I have had for the quality was Hawkmoor 👌
@@GaryEats Thank you Gary! x
Just discovered this channel, and I'm hooked! You, sir, are a legend 🙂
Legend! Thank you mate!
Just an honest straightforward opinion.. no messing about just brilliant 😊
Thank you Alison. Glad you like them!
Most of the diners there will be using their company expense account cards I suspect. May I suggest, whilst in London try the "Jugged Hare" pub near Barbican - a totally different dining experience
Heard of it Robin. I'll take a look!
@@GaryEats Hi Gary- I sometimes eat there and then go to a FREE concert at the Guild Hall School of Music (19.30) always a great night out!!
Excellent channel, always makes me hungry 😊
Thank you 😋
I think its a pattern from expensive steakhouses to serve you really generous portion of fries because its much cheaper for them to make and it compensates for the fact that the meat portion they give you might not really be enormous (and in your case it didn't look enormous indeed), thanks to the fries you feel full and are happy, and I woudl feel the same as well. But hey fries are super important to me as well
A good assessment. Thanks for watching!
Hi Gary. I've only just found your channel and I'm going through all your videos. Really enjoyable and by the end of your reviews I'm genuinely hungry. Keep up the great work
Excellent to hear mate. Thanks for watching!
Lovely meal there in a lovely place Gary, no doubt about that. A choice of a side to go in with the price would have made it easier to swallow, but as a once or twice a year treat its not that bad!
Thanks Nick. Glad you like it!
Ive not been to a Goodmans yet. Fifty notes for a steak and chips is a bit bullish for me - but im not a huge fan of steak. If i do go i will add the musrooms i think. Great review as ever Gary.
Thanks Rob!
Another excellent upload we enjoyed watching cheers Gary
Thank you Ray!
Thanks Morgan. Couldn't have said it better myself.
Gary, Enjoyed the video and while expensive, missing greens, I was pleased there were no jellied ells (lol). All the best from the U.S.A.
All the best mate. Glad you’ve enjoyed it!
