    I have PTSD and a lot of social anxiety that makes finding a job hell. Most jobs require you to talk to people which I’m able to do, but really exhausts me. A job where I don’t have to talk to anyone and repeat similar tasks is not good for everyone, but for me it’s prefect.
    EDIT: thanks for the likes guys!! Thought I’d give an update…
    I’ve been working somewhere else for a few months now. Amazon was good, definitely not perfect. I think it’s depends on your site, your task, management team and your peers. My fulfilment centre was small and did not have a lot of the new technology, we moved a lot of stuff manually and it was too physically straining for me.

    For those that starting at Amazon, ima give you an update on how its going for me. It's been over a month since i've started working with them, you don't have to deal with customers and 9/10 times (as long as you don't screw up) you will hardly see your managers/supervisors. It's hard work but as he mentions in the video, it's easy work. Headphones aren't allowed BUT if you have a neck gaiter, you can wear it and hide your airpods in it and listen to music while you're working, just don't get caught lmao.
    I personally love it and it's perfect for people that don't want to deal with the general public and the karens.

    Idk if anyone would care but I’ll tell you what I just did for my first day. Just to be clear I only did customer returns today nothing else. So you walk in get your badge then they walk you to a room where you sit for 5 hours and watch video on what to do and not to do. Heads up get a seat in the back lol my neck still hurts from looking up. You take a 30 minute lunch break between the 5 hours. Then you go on a Tour of the factory then after that they show you everything you will be doing. All you have to do on the computer is basic self explanatory stuff of the job you will be doing. It’s okay to Ask questions they know you don’t know anything and you don’t want to just stand there looking like a deer in the headlights. If you want me to go in depth of the job just tell me and I’ll respond

I know, its crazy to get promoted that quickly but my tip is to work really hard but dont push yourself too much. Just do the hourly targets and be punctual. I am also 18 and a college freshman, and I have no complaints about amazon other than it being kinda repetitive. You don't interact with people that much during shifts especially with covid. ( I used to work at a resutrant so its a major difference in social interaction lol) But I would highly recommend amazon. It pays really well for our age and is a great workout, is basically an automatic hire, and some places let you make up your own schedule. I wish you luck with whatever you do!

NOTHING kills my motivation for work like being FORCED to clean up after another person. THEY WONT DO THEIR END and bitch the whole night while you pick up the slack. OH you came in a 4 am. Way to much adjustments(one sided af also), inconsistencies and incompetence that leads to uncertainty. some trainers (learning ambassador as they call them) are very thorough. some just throw you in there and only help when a problem occurs. good thing is that the majority of the jobs are very simple. the work area is not clearly labeled, but it's typically very easy to learn. the difficult part is that it's very repetitive so it can get extremely boring. delivery stations on the other hand can be much more fast pace and demanding. your first week you're with your new hire group and trainer. they will tell you where to report each day.

    3:43 those original clippers bringing back the good old days when i met cool people. My first days and months. I got laid off recently. I worked there for 1 year and 2 months. I was always top 10 rate employees. But that doesn’t matter. Depending on certain days, you’d get a slow rate due to slow work or no supplies. In 2022, amazon was the slowest it’s ever been. They laid off many employees. It sucks a lot, because i know some people like me were hard workers as well. Now we gotta look for jobs to pay rent.

There’s a lot of standing for long periods and lots of work without without socializing. You can always apply and give it a try. If you don’t like it you’re able to resign straight from the Amazon A to Z app. If you desire you can reapply for a different position or location. one of my trainers was straight out of high school and it was her first job so it’s it difficult. I've heard stories of people having to work 3-4 days in a row of 12 hour shifts and that seems very physically demanding. I am 57 years old and wonder if I'm allowed more days of work in a given week but with shorter shifts; so am I allowed to do that ~ (???) Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

    The position that I just applied for in Warehouse Shopper/Team Member. I used to work as a Seasonal Amazon Prime Shopper at Whole Foods last year. Working at whole foods allowed you to have one headphone in to listen to music and shop around in the grocery aisle and pack the ambient, frozen items up and put them in the right location so that way the Amazon Delivery team can pick it up delivery the items. Being a seasonal amazon prime time shopper, I was basically the middle person before the delivery team delivers everything. How is it as a Warehouse/ Shopper Team Member? Ask your area manager. I’ve seen it where a few people come in during a mid shift so their breaks differ. The manager gives them work while everyone else is on break. Congrats! questions: 1) if you can’t or shouldn’t carry your phone, when do you know your times for paid or unpaid breaks? 2) iHow loud is the warehouse, say for a person who has a hearing problem and where her hearing device is not suited for spaces that have continual incessant noise level? 3) are you still working at amz, and if not, how did it prepare you for your next stage career work?

    • @FinanceFaithFamily
      @FinanceFaithFamily  3 года назад +2

      1. you can have your phones in your pocket. the area manager will tell you the break and lunch times. it's the same time every shift. 2. it's not loud, but there are area's where there's a constant sound of air flow. like the air flow sound by the entrance of grocery stores, that blocks the bugs from coming in. when you speak to someone standing next to you there's no need to yell. 3. i left last year in december. The area i'm in now does not have a warehouse nearby. it helped me to be humble, i truly appreciate the opportunity and experience. I knew it's not something I wanted to do long term and helps me understand how the process works whenever i buy something on amazon. it's definitely not for everyone, but it's not a bad job as some may say. just different.

    Thank you for the information, in your work, did you do different things every day and in different places, or did you do the same thing every day in the same place?

    • @FinanceFaithFamily
      @FinanceFaithFamily  3 года назад +1

      many will do the same thing every work day, in the same location. my area had 3 jobs, i would do 1 of the 3 jobs every 3-4 hours. sometime i would do 1 job the whole day. the jobs were all at the same warehouse. it will get repetitive and boring at times. majority of the work is simple and easy.

    • @FinanceFaithFamily
      @FinanceFaithFamily  4 года назад +6

      After you apply if you want to change shift or jobs you’ll have to be a blue badge. You can change shift straight from the A to Z app once you become blue badge. As far as I know in the fulfillment centers 4-5 hours don’t exist.

    No mention of the mandatory (MET) overtime? That actually violates labour laws here in Canada. An employer can't force you to work over 40 hours a week unless you agree to it. I was just handed a revised contract stating that there will be MET at my site.

    • @FinanceFaithFamily
      @FinanceFaithFamily  2 года назад +2

      from my experience during the holidays and during the week of Prime day is where MET pops up. if you're a full timer, they want you to work 1 extra day (on top of your regular 40 hours week). also we would come in 1 extra hour early in the morning too. so if you were scheduled Sun-Wed 7AM-6PM, during holidays and "peak season" we would have to come in Sun-Wed + 1 extra day 6AM-6PM. hope that helps.

      its an area called AFE (outbound). the positions are packing, induct, and rebin. 3 jobs in this area. easiest is induct if there's 2 people, but crazy boring and isolated. i personally like packing best.

      @@FinanceFaithFamily thanks for the response! This is at the fc facility right? I start April 2. I remember in this vid or another video that you said blue badges get drug test. Does that mean imma be a blue badge? As soon as I apply about a couple days later they told me to goto a warehouse to get my id and drug test.

      @@dadon2024 unless things have changed, but Blue badge is a permanent employee. White badge is a temp or seasonal. its pretty easy to convert to blue. sometimes less than 30. days. Yes this is fulfillment warehouse.
