Hi All. Question of string tension: is the best tone achieved tuning down using the appropriate gauge strings, or to tune down using standard gauges? Is it low tension with floppier string that give the ubiquitous doom tone? Thanks!
i find that higher gauge like 56 and thicker, works better for me for faster riffing in B,C standard. Drone stuff with long ringing chords sounds better with thinner strings. Just my preference.
@@DoomTones thank you for your quick reply. I ask as I am using an 8 string bass (8 string in 4 pairs a la Kings X) as a guitar in a Doom metal project. It’s tuned in its natural state of octave pairs E-g. While I can get a very heavy sound, it doesn’t have the same decay and breakup when sustaining as I hear with you or other recordings. Instead just has a smooth fade away. It’s not lost on me that it’s a bass and not a guitar, and there will be a fundamental difference in regard to pickup structure, which I’m sure plays a key element. I am also forgoing physical pedals and amps for this project . Instead opting for all VSTs. Which also, I know, effects tone character.
That sounds amazing. That pedal it's very unique. It delivers such a great sound that can be sculpted into many different tones. I can't wait to buy one. It's stacked so well with other pedals
dude, its flawless. What's really cool is that it does the whole power amp distortion tone. all the way up to dopesmoker tone. There are a few demos of it on Facebook where the Kuro guy himself A/B tests the T120 against the real gt120 that it was modeled after. Its almost indistinguishable from the amp. Im gonna do a more thorough demo of it later on.

Bad ass! 🤘🏻🔥
quite a simple circuit, but the tone is massive. now im looking to either buy or build the Fuzzthrone.
This sounds awesome when you okay chords!
yeah, the pedal really shines when playing low power chords. i just added some solos to showcase the tones a bit better.
