I think there should've been two separate list for Metal and Rock
Agree
Agreed, they're on totally different levels.
Agree, there's a huge difference between a Rock n Roll guitarist like Eric Clapton to a Dimebag Darrel of metal.
Agree
I agree
Cutting Domination right before the breakdown is evil.
Joseph Ancion this is the metal equivalent of edging
Yes sir
Sacrilegious 🤕
or when someone goes and pauses the song when it gets to a solo
Putting Dime at number 5 instead of 1 is evil. Getcha Pull !
Tragic how a talent like Randy Rhoads ended so early in his career.
yeah
Tragic to say atleast
Dimebag too
a talent that really inspired many guitarists out there . RIP RANDY RHOADS
@@lifeinlondon144 Yes, and the mighty riffmeister, too. The death of Randy was especially hard on Rudy Sarzo... he even said the reason he rejoined QR was that he felt that it was the only way he could enjoy playing bass, this truly is representative of how close those two were....
So we'll forget the legendary grindcore solos by lil Wayne?
Lil Wayne sucks at the guitar
@@Miist3rDuce1 that’s the j o k e
@@Miist3rDuce1 oh dear. It’s a joke
@@Miist3rDuce1 well I’m entitled to my opinion so no I won’t stay out of it.
C'mon lil wayne jokes are getting old..
There should be three lists:
*Top ten rock guitar players
*Top ten metal guitar players
*Top ten influential guitar players (for the ones who are not necessarily the best, but contributed to a movement in rock)
We need those lists! Where are they, @Loudwire?
and then Top 10 virtuoso guitar players !
like slash for rock and Thompson/hetfield for metal ?
lot of influential like blackmore too.
or god petrucci
@@avesena975 god vai, god malsteen.
I totally agree with you... because (I may get hate here) I don't think Hendrix was the "best" guitarist ever....
I do believe he was one of the most influential guitarists ever. He was doing things with a guitar that no one at the time was doing, and slot of the techniques he helped pioneer are still deeply rooted in rock today.
Another example is Clapton. While I agree, he was, and continues to be influential to the industry, I dont thing he is in the top 10 best rock guitarists in the world... let the hate flow through you...
I'm simple man, i see Dimebag, i click.
He should be number 1
@@marcelodominguezromero4702 i agree
@@marcelodominguezromero4702 buy this list is such shit, because metal and rock are so different
👊
Pretty Much - RIP Dime
Eddie and Randy had emotion..I don't care how fast someone is
The fact that number 2 isn't fast at all makes me question your statement
I think Eddie and tony should’ve been swapped
Eddie's solos sound the same lol
Marty and dimebag have both soooo
@@angle.0255 I’m not sure how many Eddie Van Halen solos you’ve heard, but that comment is plain stupid
Even the metalheads love Jimi 👍
god damn fuckin right we do, everyone appreciates that guy
Who doesn't?

5:The Guitarist Of Damageplan
4: Vinnie Paul's Brother

I saw SRV just before he passed away, I didn't know who he was. It was the most incredible live guitar playing I have ever seen.
best Blues Player of all time
This list is missing David Gilmour, and that is a crime.
If the list was a top 15
@@dinobambino7724 nope, man makes the guitar cry. So he's in top 5.
@@shrishikesh2292 i know but these legends made something better in my opinion, but if was a top 15 gilmour should be 11 for sure
Agreed, I feel like his solos aren’t appreciated as much as they should be
It’s metal orientated, what would you expect?!
Losing your fingers and still playing guitar is one thing.
Losing your fingers and still playing sick riffs is awesome.
If you lose your fingers, still play sick riffs and also start an entire genre of music, you are a true legend.
Iommi definitely deserved his spot
Respect him.
I was gonna say "this sounds alot like iommi"😂
No marty schwartz?! Shit, that guy taught me loads of songs.
😂😂😂😂
@Dafyd 'The Riffmeisiter' Maddz So true 👍😂
😂
🤣
Re-watching to see if David Gilmore made it
Wow.
you gotta follow this up with a sequel, there's a lot of crucial historical legends missing here; Tom Morello, David Gilmour, Steve Vai, Dave Mustaine, Michael Angelo Batio, Synyster Gates, etc.. You can't just leave out these legends and condense this to only 10.
Dave mustaine is on there
And lest not forget the guy who carried OZZY for 20 years!!!! And smoked almost everyone on the “Top Ten!”
Dave was on the 10th position.
speed eddie is missing too
Gilmour?
I didn't know Pink Floyd was a hardrock band.
I thought they were psychodelic at early period and cosmo rock band further
Dimebag is only in 5th place, AND you cut Domination before the breakdown?
This is not e p i c
Dime is my favorite guitarist
The put dimmebag above Eric Clapton
And put Hendrix ahead of him
Wait...That’s legal?
Brian Peters ummm obviously, did you think there could be any other outcome
Dave Mustaine could make the "Best Hair in Rock" list.
Metal*
@@D-Man_Jam Yeah in Rock Brian May would be the one man

Yngwie malmsteen

Michael Angelo batio
John petrucci
Angus young
Marty Friedman
Sinister gates
Where are they?
Dave mustaine also should've been higher
Yes, Dave Mustaine should've been higher. He's legit the man of metal/ both thrash and heavy
@CHEYENNE WEBER got a feeling in a couple years kiko will be on one of these lists so far he’s been killing it with megadeth
All these lists are SO subjective!! Love all your picks... every one of them OVER Brian May and (forgive me) Eric Clapton! And please give a shout out for Zakk !!! Hello! I’ve seen him smoke almost every solo from the Top 10 list!!
Where is paul gilbert
They are all legends
Dave mustaine, but no Marty Friedman?
Dave is pretty good tho.
He is here becuse he can write so many riffsand is good at shredding
Solos weren't from Friedman(?)
@@tinomir67 He pretty sucks at shredding. All of his Rust in Peace solos end with the same fucking bending. He is inprecise, blues scale-based only, and kind of repetitive. He writes badass riffs, of course, but Marty's playing is just another level.
Anyway, I love Mustaine's soloing, it reflects perfectly which kind of person he is, but when it comes to objectiveness Friedman is eclectic, original and almost impossible to replicate, which are the reasons why he's one of my favourites too.
@@marius9372 I agree, Dave is a bit sloppy but I think the catchiness of his riffs and solos make up for it. Plus he plays and sings Holy Wars live perfectly to this day, he deserves a spot on this list for sure.
Dave is more influential
So we gonna forget about the legendary solo by Fred Durst?
Stevie T wants to know your location
Dafyd Maddz Nick is my fav guitarist, I’ll go buy one right this instant
Dafyd Maddz WHAT, are you serious! I’ve gotta myself some of that!
I know! His “Nick Knee” technique is mind-blowing! 😂
SHAVE MY FRIENDS TONIGHT
No.4 in this list. No.1 in our hearts
Eddie van Halen should have been #1. RIP Eddie
No four is a good place for him it’s still a incredible feat
^
If he was number 1 this list would have been ruined
Him and Tony Iommi should have switched imo
@@isaacmorrow7077 I'm sorry man but as much as I respect Eddie, he was a very good guitarist and invented tapping, but Tony was one of the people responsible for invention of metal.

If Randy Rhodes lived long enough to record another album, he’d be the greatest guitarist ever.
Ryan Staley +1

Maybe in another future that could be true
That's a close call dude what about dimebag
Randy Rhodes was in the movie The Dirt
I like how loudwire were so diverse in all these guitarist playing style and genres

Chris Oliva!
It was a crime that Chuck was left off of this list
The one in the video that is
I would have put Gary Moore on here.
ABSOLUTELY, SRV,Robin Trower, Frank Marino all in place of the ever so repetitive Clapton.
I never thought Dimebag and Clapton could be in the same list
this list should be "10 Most INFLUENTIAL Guitarrist All Time"
Now that's one comment i can totally agree with
What's the difference? The most influential are usually the greatest
+Luis Darrell Burton Agreed. Black Sabbath is my favorite band of all time, but to claim Tony Iommi is the second best rock/metal guitarist of all time? Ridiculous. The most influential, absolutely, but as far as technique goes, he doesn't belong on this list.
+Luis Darrell Burton then where is malmsteen? he started the 80s shredding in terms of harmonic minor, dorian, phrygian, legato and all of that metal goodness
+brian nielsen well that's true, i just say that 'cause less a lot of guitarrists :p
Rock ( in no specific order ) : Page, Blackmore, Hendrix, Richards, Angus and Malcolm, EVH, Slash, Clapton.
Metal ( in no specific order ) : Iommi, Mustaine, Dimebag, Yngwie, Randy Rhoads, Petrucci, Chuck Schuldiner.
This is the perfect list.
Well, if you're going to include Clapton on that list, I highly suggest you check out Stevie Ray Vaughan. ruclips.net/video/evjMjpd4PNM/видео.html
CHUCKKKKKKKKKKK
And Gilmour for the rock list.

Christian Benitez lol. behind kirk? Don't get me wrong I love Metallica but really?
TheBushwooky Yeah I know, i do love also metallica but Kirk isn´t that good, come on it´s Petrucci he should be at least in top 10, as i said, this is more "10 Most Known Guitarist"
If Eric Clapton's really that good, that clip really doesn't seem to do him much justice
Kane Oakley he is severely overrated
Kane Oakley
Better tunesmith than guitarist, and really, not the only one that does not belong....
Katy Ellison Katy Ellison Katy Ellison I mean Brian May, Jeff Beck, Jimmy Page, Dimebag Darrel, Randy Rhoades, Jimi Hendrix, and Eddie Van Halen definitely belong, really the sore thumb that sticks out is Eric Clapton which they easily could have replaced him with like Alex Lifeson or a lot of other guitarists.
Clapton, May, and Beck don't belong on this list.

What about Alex Lifeson. He’s so underrated and overlooked
I've said it before. Anyone from rush or dream theatre should have spots on top 10 lists, hell Geddy was a monster on 2 different instruments all while singing.
scott maclean I like Dream Theater, but I’ve never liked James LaBrie vocals. But, I agree Rush and Dream Theater are some of the most talented bands on the planet, and I don’t know how Geddy’s sings, plays crazy baselines, plays keyboards, and bass pedals.

That dimebag Darrel clip was insane.
are we just gonna ignore the fact that kirk isn’t are here or
He makes many mistakes and his bends are often out of tune when playing live, sure his solos are great but so are the other's too.
Kirk hammet = E min + pentatonic/blues + alot of wah.
This list is way too selective and small for Hammett to poke his lil head in. He isn't even top 10 material within metal ( unless the only heavy music you listen to is Metallica ), very good lead guitarist at his peak, but tons of players like him and he didn't really 'innovate' or 'create' anything ground-breaking to help his case. The fact that he happens to be in the biggest metal band in the world doesn't necessitate a spot, it just means he made good use of what he has.
Dave was number 10 and there’s no way Kirk could beat Dave, so he had no place on the list
Describe what's missing on this list in 3 words...Satch, Vai, Gilbert!
Friedman?

The Jeff Beck one made me laugh. Nobody knows much about his stuff but since people think they're "supposed" to rank him somewhere in the Top 10 they search for some live show and play a 5 second clip of him playing some stupid weird noises and then move quickly on
The best guitarists in this video, is probably the guy who did the intro

Kirk sucks, he cant play rhythm well, and all his solos are predictable and are just whammy.
I can't believe I used to live by Dimebag Darrell in Arlington, Texas. Dimebag is insane, and also : Stevie Ray Vaughan, Jimmy Vaughan, Jimmy Hendrix and Eddie Van Halen.
I always forget and it's embarrassing because I love Queen, what song is the Brian May guitar solo from?
Takes poll around Loudwire office.
"Yes but do they bend and tap?"
Bonus points for wah pedal
