I deliberately peel off Hi-Res stickers and put them on random things in my house. My microwave is now Hi-Res and cooks food faster and my toilet with its Hi-Res certification now has a deeper more harmonic bass.

@@TheHonestAudiophile is there a noticeable difference with the Apple dongle? I’m a university student and I’m trying to understand if it’s worth it. I’ve read good stuff about that cheap dongle.
I don't think the Apple dongle is a good dongle BUT I've not used with an Apple device only Android. To me it wasn't resolving and lacked clarity. I prefer other dongles as I believe they're more detailed, resolving and clear.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Yeah, I’ve read of those issues with android users, Apple made it on purpose. Some people bypassed that problem using some third party apps which give you direct access to the dac, but I believe it’s not worth the effort.
Hi Dave, I just recently purchased the ua1+ and was messing around with the digital filters. I noticed the default on the ua1+ was the slow roll off, i read on audio forums this one kinda rolls off near high frequencies. I switched to the sharp roll off and it did sound like the higher frequencies weren't rolled off (more neutral) maybe this might change what you noticed with the high treble not having enough energy or rolling off. Thanks for the review and im loving this dac with the sharp filter over my old CX pro (that cx31993 chip was a bit forward sounding)
I like shanling. I’ve got the m3 ultra as my dap, pretty great imo. Also have the m0 pro, but I haven’t used that yet. M3 ultra is like a nuetral warm sound, I like it. Maybe a little more than my btr7.
Thoughts on this pairing? : Etymotic ER4SR + SHANLING UA1 Plus I'm currently using $20 Bluetooth earbuds, and I love messing with the sound settings and such, but I just want to get a wired pair for Gaming/Music on PC I have no clue about any of this, just looking to get insanely good sound quality. I tend to prefer highs and vocal clarity over much else.
Guess I'll go with the UA1 Plus then, neutral sound signature and wider sound staging is what I prefer more. Thanks for your suggestions Sir, really appreciate it! 😊

hello, I just bought Shanling UA1 Plus after a few days since I watched your video, my English is not very good, can you explain to me the DSD (white led) and UAC 1.0 (red led) is what? And how do I activate them? And I'm just a simple music lover on RUclips, SoundCloud and Spotify. Do I need to adjust the above two modes? I'm quite curious about UAC 1.0 mode. I use UA1 Plus for Windows 11 computer, I only see the highest quality I can adjust is 384kHz (Purple led), not 768kHz, is this a problem? Thank you for your answer, I really like your detailed introduction video.

@@TheHonestAudiophile sorry if I'm dragging this on a bit but I'm curious. I'm using my 80ohm headphones connected to my phone via ugreen dac. The dac's specs say it has 18mw adaptive output power. When using this setup the sound at max level is almost loud enough. Most people would probably say that it is enough... Now my question is this. If this dac gives out a fairly loud sound at 18mw, shouldn't this 80mw dac amp be a massive improvement in terms of loudness? Or am I looking at it wrong?

@@TheHonestAudiophile okay sir. How about ifi audio go link ?. And status audio cb1s impedance is 30 ohms and sensitivity is 97+/-3db. Does this really need a dongle dac/amp ? Its already clean without one.
97db sensitivity is actually a bit demanding for dongle amps. I recommend something with more power than the UA1 Plus or Go Link2. A dongle like the Hiby FC4 has more power for an over ear headphone. But I recommend a small desktop amp instead.
I've not heard the 599se in a very long time. The UA1 Plus is not a very powerful dongle so I doubt it would have enough power to drive the over-ear headphones.
HD59x need good power, which this device will provide. But with power you also need quality, which this device will not provide amply. You will be feeding lower quality signal to your 599s than it's capable of. My advice would be to get something better.
Obviously depends on the combination of smartphone as well as headphones. But I have a much more cheaper DAC and the difference is simply night and day.
