Long hood, hinged doors... there's nothing minivan about it. It's a slightly taller station wagon, which is commonly described as a Crossover. Just like the Model X, calling the Gravity an SUV is a stretch.
People talk about a car's features, stereo, software, etc., but until you have personally driven a Lucid no words can really describe the feeling. It's just right. This is how driving should be. Driving my Air GT for almost 3 years now has been a wonderful experience.
It absolutely looks like a minivan, AND I don't think that's a bad thing. It looks like a COOL minivan, and that is exactly what the people want! A fully utilitarian vehicle that rips in comfort!
Wow! $125k and you get manual seats. I think they're a little too late with the tech. Maybe the Trump tariffs will allow them time to catch up to what the Chinese are doing for less than half the price.

People not understanding that lucid is aiming to be a luxury brand. Yes they need to be profitable but that will take time. Scaling is hard. This is where Tesla was in between the model X model 3. Lucid also aims to make the earth its more affordable suv. Also lucid has hands down best engineered and most efficient EV architecture. Their innovation is unparalleled and you can’t question that. Now that they have it figured out they can do the scaling.
This is naccurate. Since IPO in 2010 Tesla has had a constant positive auto gross margin with the exception of a single quarter in 2012. Every other quarter they've been gross margin positive. Lucid has never reported a positive gross margin. They are spending a LOT of money on things they really don't need to.
@@vorpalinferno9711 They became profitable when they starting selling the more affordable M3/Y. Name a single profitable luxury EV.............. the problem is, at that price point, maintenance cost isnt too much of an issue and people tend to go for the well established ICE luxury cars.
@ Tesla was immediately gross profitable at IPO. They have always made a profit on the vehicles they manufactured. Their cost control is very aggressive. In comparison Lucid is selling vehicles at an immense loss. Their cost price exceeds the price of the vehicle. This is very hard to fix.
The amazing thing about electric SUVs is that their compact motors and inverters, along with the battery neatly tucked under the floor, allow for a level of space efficiency that combustion engines could never achieve. However, this optimized space utilization sometimes leads to a monobox design reminiscent of a minivan. Personally, I love the way it looks, and I hope enough people share this sentiment. I really want Lucid to thrive and grow because they truly make fantastic cars.
We had an Audi Q7 and it was a great car. This reminds me of that form factor. It has the capacity of a GMC Yukon with the exterior size of the Audi Q7. Easy for a family to pull in and out of the garage and drive everyday.
it defintely has that van shape with the short hood that slopes down a bit. But it does not look bad AT ALL. Amazing looks and the practicality, performance, and luxury is unrivaled for 100K honestly. At 80K it is a steal. Q7, MDX, X7, GLS, are all larger dimensionally but much more cramped inside. The space is encroaching on minivan and full size territory. Actually it is more spacious than some full size cars like the armada and sequioa
I love it and can feel the driving experience thru you. From my Cybertruck with the electric and rear steering that make it feel like a model Y …I can’t wait for this to be my next daily . It looks like best of all worlds !🎉 thank you for the early heads up
I could definitely see the Gravity taking the kids to school in Bellevue, Washington. If Lucid would like to let me have one so everybody can see it going up I5 and hanging out in neighborhoods in Washington State just get in touch 😀
This is the type of vehicle Tesla needs to get going on. A proper 3 row with conventional doors that doesn't look like an egg. The Model X just isn't that desirable anymore and this 3-row segment is hugely important.
Nah, we rocked a 6 seat with 2 captn chairs with family of 5 from young age to when they were driving. Third rows are rarely used, but with the two captains chairs were used a TON.

It's growing on me after this video. I'd say it's more like a tall wagon than an SUV or minivan. I like the third row application on a Lucid chassis. Very nice.
It is absolutely packaged like a minivan. That’s why all three rows can fit an adult with trunk space. Not a bad thing. Best layout for any family, it looks just different enough to be uber popular in this anti minivan phase
@otm646 The captain's chairs are preferable for getting kids in and out of the third row. A bench seat offers a much worse experience for that and, in some cases, makes it impossible when car seats are installed in the second row. Not a deal breaker for some but if you will have multiple kids in car seats it's worth the consideration.

In our case it was lack of captain chairs that we ignored not only Rivian, but Mode X as well. In our case we want 7 seats with captain chairs - that's even harder to get. We pretty much need EV Palisade. Still waiting for one.
@@danguelph2676 Yes, the choices are very limited for that configuration! Fortunately, we only needed a six-seater, so we went with the EV9 for the family. (Model X third row was awful)But I still have my Performance Model 3 refresh to keep the fun alive!
Impressed that this is coming with a NACS Uhh... at $95-125K.. I wouldn't count on it selling very well. I guess we need to agree on what's 'selling well'. I would say if they can get up to or past 20k a year.. that's pretty good. I'd guess they'll sell less than 10k a year.. maybe less than 5k. Soooo.. I don't expect it will sell 'well'. Mmm.. it does look a bit minivan ish.. Not exactly sporty looking once you get past the nose.. kind of a bus. Like a HUD.. like the center screen way better than the air. Don't really love the binnacle screen going so far and so high. If you want a bigger center screen for real estate space for different shit.. make it bigger! Don't like a long screen up so high in the view line. A binnacle screen should be behind the wheel and that's it.. for me.
It’s nice that the rear doors can open 90 degrees, but with a door that long it will be difficult to open in tight spaces… should have done a sliding door instead, but that would make this a minivan (gasp!)
Have you seen the prices of new Wagoneers, Navigators, Escalades, EQE, ModelX, Rivian R1S ect. The Gravity absolutely destroys all of those other 3 row SUV’s in every metric for its price tag.
For everybody who’s waiting for Lucid to make a $30,000 car just wait until this car is five years old or with 100,000 miles and you will get it for your imaginable price😂
I'm really curious how well this will sell, it reminds me a lot of the Mercedes R-Class which didn't find much of a market in the US. It lacks the style of an SUV and its too expensive to cross shop with a minivan. Having said that, I like it and if I was buying a $100k vehicle it would be at the top of my list. I still worry about my kids opening a traditional door though :)
Glad to finally get the review of the Gravity!!!! Please try and get your hands on a Cadillac Escalade IQ. I am very interested in an electric SUV for a large family 5+. We also need a tow vehicle for a camper. I think the Cadillac Escalade IQ could be the Holy Grail of EVs for a large family that can actually tow a decent distance.
Towing and ingress are the only advantages of the Escalade IQ. Everything else, the Gravity does better for less money and an exterior that's doesn't take up a lot of space.
Speed faster than a Lamborghini is irreverent to 99% of the owners. They don't glue onto the roads if you want to act like a F1 driver. Remember those 3 college kids killed in daddy's Cybertruck last week. Speed kills

I hate to point this out, but the R-Class didn't sell well. And was gone within 5 years. I just wish the Gravity was 25% less minivan looking.
Maybe the R Class was ahead of its time and we're finally ready for one. Can't wait to see how Gravity does.

A Tesla van that also had a commercial spec version would be incredible. Relatively lightweight, aerodynamic. 1200-1500 lbs of payload would be fine.

Needs second-row captain's chairs.
This same omission was the only thing that stopped me from purchasing a Rivian.
It's very rare to be hauling three or four adults, to the point where you want captain's chairs. The kids don't care.
