Just finished watching and was surprised the closest to Pittsburgh remnant was the culvert on the Kiski RR. Read somewhere construction of 279 across the Northside uncovered stoneworks that the Pittsburgh Street Department removed and stored.
I read the same. Might have also left some buried. Seems I recall it was serious and extensive archaeology. But they ain't remnants we can see:) Nor in situ. Other folks have shared some reports and photos of remnants also closer, but I checked them out and am still not convinced they're canal and not later railroad. For example, in unequivocal remnants I've seen, there haven't been drill marks, but these closer ones have them. Best I've been informed, those are later cut stones than original canal stone. After masons started drilling to drop powder charges. Anybody got more info?
Ah-HA! Thank you for noticing that. Now I encourage you to enter "178 Main St, Saltsburg, PA" into your favorite map app and tell us what you discover, please😉

Your photos list south end of Main Street, Saltsburg PA, but Saltsburg doesn't have a street called Main.
