    I absolutely love it! I love the way you built the model. I loved the way you painted the model. I loved the way you weathered the model. Overall a superb job!!! I really mean it! Two thumbs up my friend. I can't wait to see part two. Take care and have a great day!

      qdc748a And I love your comment.. :) Thank you!! :) Huge compliment coming from you... Next up however will be another couple of BA e Hawks from the 100 series, with the longer nose.. I need to have them ready by the 28th so MUST concentrate on them before I get the next installment done for the Adversaries build.. :)

    Looking mighty fine, Rob. The planking and snorkel system give it a crazy cool appearance.

    Dobré video . Skvelá stavebnica a výborná stavba . Tank vyzerá veľmi dobre a s nasávacím a výfukovým potrubím je super !!!

    Looks great Rob. From the reviews I read on the kit, it looks like a good build for an Italeri kit. Thanks and shall add it to may list of "some day buys"

    Best armour i ve seen from you so far my friend! Enjoied it very very much! 1/35 Italery sherman tank price? 15/25 £... seeing Ian saying "GET THAT MODEL BUILD NOW? PRICELESS!!!

      @BasicModelling  10 лет назад +1

      AlexModeling Ha ha ha ha.. Thank you Alex.. :) I was watching Ian's icebucket challenge and just happened to freeze stop the video when he stood like that, and I thought 'I know the perfect caption for that picture'.. :) So I had to do it.. :) And yes, apart from the mishap with the wheels I did enjoy the build very much.. :) 1/35 scale armour is growing on me, it's what I used to do when I first built models many years ago and didn't have to worry about space for them.. :)

    • @AlexModeling
      @AlexModeling 10 лет назад

      Well... im breaking the "secrecy" on it.. but im doing a 1/32 now and its video and.. well.. if you see it you will understand the fact that probably im going to sleep in the street;)... welcome the the "gentlemans armour Scale";)

      @BasicModelling  10 лет назад +1

      AlexModeling I have always enjoyed the 1/35 scale kits.. it's only really space that limits me from building more, the smaller 1/72 scale do take up less room.. :) Looking forward to seeing whatever it is you are doing, it sounds expensive.. :)

    First the wood looks top shelf as does the rest of it but the photos of the wood grain really show off the detail. I've been looking for a Sherman kit and was not really considering this kit but I am now. Thanks for posting and great work on her.

      Thank you... that is great praise indeed.. I'm almost blushing!! :) Just be aware that they have done the fittingsfor the return wheels very weak (in my opinion) but maybe it was just me that was heavy handed in trying to fit the track... either way, it may be an idea to try and reinforce them somehow BEFORE fitting the tracks, rather than having to do it after, like I had to.. :) For an Itaeri 1/35 armour kit it's not all that bad, I enjoyed the build apart from the minor mishap with the track.. :)

      TommyBoy ScaleModeling Thank you.. I just wish I had more space, so I could build more of these larger scale tanks, they are such fun to do.. :) :)

    I have already told you this but again, probably the best armour I thuink Ihave seen you do. The weathering powders really work well. I have never been that much of a Sherman fan, (I preferred to drive the panther in conqurer way back when Iwere a lad! Can't wait to see the rest of it coming together.

      UKscalemodeller Glad you like my effort so far.. :) Just need to finish my latest two Hawks now but I will work on the figures in parallell, so I don't get too far behind.. :) The Hawks has a closer deadline though, they have to be done by the 28th.. :) I'm also thinking ahead of the 'adversaries' diorama, have constructed it a 100 times in my head already..

  • @MakingModelsAgain

    1/72 may be your forte, but you definitely shine on the larger scales. You just need to buy a bigger house to store them all. :)
    This is to us modellers, what cheese is to Wallace - Cracking! :)

    • @BasicModelling
      @BasicModelling  10 лет назад

      MakingModelsAgain I have always had a great liking for the larger scales, it is just the fact that you just mentioned.. I would need a larger house!! I am enjoying this Group Build, even though I am currently trying to finish my last two Hawks in time for the show next Sunday. I'm running behind schedule as well.. but I'll get there, I'm sure.. :) At least I have plenty of time to finish this GB, so I'm not overly worried.. timewise! :)

    Great looking Sherman Rob, very nicely done. been quite a while since I've seen that Italeri kit. Good build vid.

    • @BasicModelling
      @BasicModelling  10 лет назад

      chancerNW Thank you.. I had one of these a couple of years ago, but gave it away as a prize in one of my modelling contests.. never got to see it built, so in the end I decided to buy another one and do it myself.. and when Ian's GB came up I thought it was the ideal opportunity to do it, especially as I have built so many aircraft this year already..

    I built this kit ten years ago. I didnt like the amphibious style tank so I just built it into a normal sherman.Yours came out much better than mine did though.

    @HamilkarBarkasScaleModelling 10 лет назад

    one of the better looking shermans, with all that wood as addon armour :) it really gives me the sense of inferiority haha!
    now, on a serious note, it is a really good looking model so far, italeri is not bad eh? the wood looks very realistic to me, well done rob :) now bring on the japanese!

    • @BasicModelling
      @BasicModelling  10 лет назад

      Hamilkar Barkas Thank you.. well, you're one of the masters.. so if you say the wood looks good, then I am more than happy to take your word for it.. :) As for Italeri, it's a mixed bag as always.. I enjoyed this build very much, mishap apart, but a few years ago I did an Italeri 1/35 Panzer IV, and I just hated every minute of it.. perhaps that's were I get my dislike of Panzer IV's from?? Just poor fit all around and generally 'ooouuurrrggghhhh'.. the kit I mean.. Now, I will start the Marines and Japanese infantry tomorrow, but I also need to complete my last two Hawks, as the deadline for them is on the 28th.. which means they have to be packed and ready on the 27th.. which means they really should have to be done by the 25th for all to cure and set and dry.. so time is ticking,, :)

    It's interesting that there are such big snorkels like the Marines were expecting some water traps...

    • @BasicModelling
      @BasicModelling  10 лет назад

      foodquig I guess the correct name is 'wading stacks' or something like that.. either way, it stopped the Sherman from drowning when crossing waterlogged areas and rivers and such, I guess.. and being in the pacific they allowed the Shermans to be launched from landing crafts.. :)

The chairman of the club will come up tonight with some decals for them, maybe some more resin seats and hopefully another couple of Airfix 1/72 IXc Spitfires.. :) :) They are selling them very cheaply in Hannants and he only works around the corner from them so can pop in and get some on his lunchbreak.. :)

    • @BasicModelling
      @BasicModelling  10 лет назад

      Armour Empire True.. the Sherman stood up well in comparison to anything the Japanese could throw at it, apart from mines et.c, so I thought I'd make a pacific version rather than one from the ETO, waiting to be shot to pieces by a Tiger any minute.. :)

    Urläcker Tjörmenn där hörru! Tycker nog att den är en av de snyggare stridsvagnarna från WW2. Det är något med de där formerna alltså... :)

    • @BasicModelling
      @BasicModelling  10 лет назад

      De finns en grupp modellbyggare (vi har tva eller tre bara har i den lokala klubben) som nastan bara bygger Sherman tanks, de ater, sover och lever helt for Shermans och kan allt om alla varianter.. och det finns manga olika!! Dessa byggare ar Shermanoholics', och jag forsoker sta emot att bli en Sherman missbrukare jag med! Men som du sjalv papekade, det ar nagot visst med formerna.. nastan lite feminint! Sa jag kommer definitivt att bygga fler... :) Kanske vi skulle kalla dem for ett Feminint Initiativ och dopa om dem till Schyman tanks.. ;)

    A 1/35th tank..! Not your cup of tea, but you did some awesome work on that ;) I really salute you for doing the tracks so well! I couldn't put up with the awful italeri Amtank tracks, so I ordered white metal... another disaster :P

    • @BasicModelling

      Mr Modelling Modelling is full of disasters.. ready to happen, if nothing else! But hopefully we learn from them so we don't repeat the mistakes again... until next time!!! :) :) Glad you liked my little tank, I used to build a lot of 1/35 scale tanks when I first did the hobby, many years ago.. :)
