    The first guy with the gas station robbery; something was going on there. That dude wanted to be arrested and put somewhere out of someone else's normal reach.

      I believe that that was more like paranoia. Police always says how efficient they are in the investigations, so when people hear that the crime they did is being investigated, people without a cool head will most likely get scared that they'll be found, so they turn themselves in in hope that confessing will reduce their punishment.

      @Joseph Virney As a person who used to work in police force I can honestly tell you that at least in my country (Russia), we do indeed exploit the terror factor when dealing with criminals who did their deed so well we barely have any clues on them. It has worked several times, mostly because the people in Russia aren't super selfish, mostly they'd tirn themselves in so their accomplices could get away.

    In a terrorism case in Norway 2011-2012 the defending lawyer said ‘I have to defend him in court that is it. He is Evil and should never See the light of day again’. Or something like that

    • @austinwilburn1772
      @austinwilburn1772 4 года назад +8

      In cases like that, do they actually try to defend them? I always figured they just go robot stoic and just inform them of their options. If you know more of the story I wouldnt mind hearing it.

    • @ingvildkvakestad

      Austin Wilburn i think he just told the guys story and informed him what the options was. He did try to Get the insane card so that he would just be locked up in a psychiatric hospital the rest of His life but that was all the defending he did. The terrorist was also super proud of what he did and complained in court that he should have killed more teens

    My mom was getting a restraining order against my dad for stalking and harassment. His lawyer looked really confident especially when he said we didnt have proof because thats what my dad told him. My mom had text messages with dates, proof of repetitive calls with time stamps, and videos of him driving by our house and taking pictures of the vehicles in the driveway. That poor lawyer and I was worried before hand because my mom didn't have a lawyer and she clearly didn't need one.

    My last co-council is kinda like this but it’s because she is incompetent. She quit because she thought she would lose her Bar card. Apparently she doesn’t understand the semantics game of law. Along with the fact she doesn’t care if her clients rights are being impeded on. But that’s just cause she doesn’t get paid enough as a public defender, and in order to remain cognitively dissident to the effects that I was laying out she quit. Because apparently homeless people don’t have a right to get an ID or insurance or anything else. I was trying to FOIA request the state and resend their federal funding and that was too scary for tonight have to do that shit on my own.

    a family friend, who is a defense lawyer, was up to serve as free council. from my understanding, defense lawyers have to take turns doing it. this guy was found taking the knife out of his dead wife's body. he had blood on him. lawyer was having a hard time finding a plausible explanation. so he went with that wives used to be their husband's property to do with what they pleased.
    he is a good defense lawyer. but, there was no way to win that.

    I could never be a defense attorney. I know that there are innocent people charged that need to be defended, but I could never defend someone who is obviously guilty. IMO lawyers that defend people who are seen on video committing violent crimes have no morals.

    • @GalisSlipscale
      @GalisSlipscale 4 года назад +2

      Most public defenders in the US don't choose the cases, they're assigned them by the state. If we come to "X person doesn't deserve a defense because the case LOOKS so open and shut" then we open the door for fake evidence causing easy railroads. They (the attorneys) are given a job to do we as society feel is important for them to do to the best of their ability; I don't think that speaks ill of their morals at all.
