I grew up in Louisa. That detail shop was once a Standard oil station in the 60s early 70s. My dad had a barbershop (The Sanitary Barbershop)next to the detail shop back in the 60s early 70s. I use to walk to his shop after school. The first thing i use to do was a grab a bottle of Coca cola and a bag of peanuts. Louisa is a fine little town.
Thank you for sharing this. I loved visiting Louisa. It is cool when I get to learn more about the history of a town. I also love hearing about the personal connections. Thanks again for sharing your memories.
I grew up in Louisa. When I wad a kid that bridge was actually a huge metal bridge that made horrible noise driving across. That Fred Vinson building was a halfway house. If your ever back there if you make that right in the bridge to what they call the Point Section and continue driving you come up on a still used 1 lane bridge. Lot of cool stuff out into Lawrence County.
@thetravelingunderwood I'm actually going back there tomorrow for a high school reunion. I live outside Nashville but most of my family still lives there. I moved from there in 93 right after graduating. If you ever want more information or suggestions on places to go I would be glad to help.
@@everett-tnredsfan Thank you. I will keep that in mind. I’m always interested in learning about new places to visit or places I might have missed. Enjoy your reunion and your time visiting family.
I loved my visit there. Thanks for commenting. I enjoy hearing about people's connections to an area I visit. I hope to get back there and spend more time there.
My brother and I had spent a couple days doing the Hatfield and McCoy stops. We were heading back to his house part way between Huntington and Charleston. The route we were taking took us by Louisa and we stopped by. I love walking through towns and loved my stop in Louisa and decided to do a video of the town.
I spent my honeymoon there! Beautiful little town
That is cool. A beautiful town indeed. I'm hopeful to make it back there someday to do another video on it and explore even more.

Neat hardware store! I love old hardware stores like this, feels like you step back in time when you go in one. And that mural is very cool too!
The old hardware stores are great. The people there are very nice and told me a quite a bit about its history.
Wow, what a great hardware store!
Yes it was. I may go back in the future and just do a video on the store. The people were great and very helpful.

Sweet place!
I loved visiting. I may go back and do a video just on the hardware store. It was incredible and the people were wonderful.
The old section of that pharmacy was once part of the Riverview Hospital. Believe it was built in the early 1900s .
Thank you. That is some great information. I loved visiting and am fascinated with the history of the town.
My grandparents built a house there and were planning to live there. Sweet place!
