Your message reminds me when I was in 6th grade away at camp, and we were told by an old, poetic soul, to go find a space away from other classmates, under the stars, and find out who we we were in them, or just be, breathe, and exist in that one moment, and remember it. I remember it still, 40 years later. Still trying to find my place, my meaning, next to those stars, but I’m closer. I just found you a couple of weeks ago. I’ve had a hidden dream of documenting our family for years. Time was never carved out for it-turns out that between medicine & kids, time is something scarce. But then COVID hit. And I realized the precious balance of LIVING in our days & creating something to document them. You do SUCH an incredible job story telling. What a legacy for those you love. Keep it up-it’s inspiring!!
I grew up swimming at Mohawk Trail State park. We camped there every summer in cabins all through the 70s, until 1980. We bought a travel trailer and traveled more after that. We also used to drive up to Windsor Jams from Adams to swim and picnic. I hear they're supposed to reopen this year. I sure hope they. So many memories! I can feel that water. So refreshing!

Huck, this took me back to the times I spent fly-fishing with my father. Fly-fishing is typically a gentleman’s sport, it is literary and beautiful, elegant in the simplicity of its mechanism, and it suggests stewardship and stalwarts. The old man would brim with pride in teaching his only daughter about fish and flies and rods. It was the place where he would go to feel wild, and where I would trespass into the world of men just to see how I faired. I was in awe of his connection to the land and how he found hidden places, the way we followed no trail, just the sound of the running stream to creeks no map could name. Dad and I would stand in that cold and rusty water and wait, enveloped in activity, feeling the closeness of experience rather than words. Those times felt like a rite of passage, something passed between parent and child, something immense enough to hold both curiosity and fragility in the coming of age.

I had a hell of a summer fishing inland lakes, rivers, oceans and streams of CT this summer of 2020! I kind of reconnected with my roots and moved to Vermont. I will buy something small and stay up there for a while. Need to get my head out of the game.

Huck, this took me back to the times I spent fly-fishing with my father. Fly-fishing is typically a gentleman’s sport, it is literary and beautiful, elegant in the simplicity of its mechanism, and it suggests stewardship and stalwarts. The old man would brim with pride in teaching his only daughter about fish and flies and rods. It was the place where he would go to feel wild, and where I would trespass into the world of men just to see how I faired.
I was in awe of his connection to the land and how he found hidden places, the way we followed no trail, just the sound of the running stream to creeks no map could name. Dad and I would stand in that cold and rusty water and wait, enveloped in activity, feeling the closeness of experience rather than words.
Those times felt like a rite of passage, something passed between parent and child, something immense enough to hold both curiosity and fragility in the coming of age.

I had a hell of a summer fishing inland lakes, rivers, oceans and streams of CT this summer of 2020! I kind of reconnected with my roots and moved to Vermont. I will buy something small and stay up there for a while. Need to get my head out of the game.
