Having had surgery 6 days ago with an abdominal incision healing, I listen very closely as you describe putting on the DOHC decals. The photo and admission of the right side being put on upsidedown... 😂😬😂😬🤣 !! Painfully funny!! Best laugh in well over a week! Beautiful bike, my friend!
You can also use a spring tool for old style drum braked. And of the shiny chrome bothers you ( like it does me) you can paint the end pieces and slide a piece of heat shrink tube on to cover the spring . Just heat it enough to keep it on . I did it for my 1977 JZ 650c and it works great. Congratulations on the bike. This may be the next steed in my stable. I love the 2003 blue ZRX1200 but I’m 63 and pretty broke up, need something lighter than the zrx & Kz. I have a 2017 Honda cb500 x to take camping to explore on . But it is pretty gutless. I’m old and a little broke up but I’m not dead yet. And the wife would rather me ride this than a 20 year old stripper 🤔. Thanks for the video
Yep, me too. In fact I only just became aware it even existed a couple of months back. Since then I've simply become obsessed, fallen in love, and I've decided, life won't be complete without this bike in it. So I'm weighing myself in for the '24 RS SE. Definitely changing the pipe for a Delkevic header, and a shorty tail can though.
Hi Steve, love the bike. I did the same as you with a fender extender not wanting to spoil it with screws. Came back from ride and yes, it was gone! Always do the rad guard, tail tidy as you did too
Hi mate hello from Australia... I hope you realise how lucky you are to have horses interrupting you?? I would kill to have that problem 😂😂... The more I research this bike, the more I want one... I just wish the yellow wasn't the only colour they do with the anodised aluminium and upgraded suspension?? also cruise control would seal the deal for me, but otherwise, it's the perfect bike for my needs!
I currently have a Suzuki GSX 1400 but have been looking at the Z900RS as my mate had one. Great video.....these small modifications are exactly what i would do if i got around to buying one,and also mabye a 4-2 exhaust.......bike looks awesome and that tail tidy is 100% improvement over the original,as is the grab rail. Good stuff.
Hi Steve, Alex here from Malta. Great video with good tips. I have the 2019 Z900RS and it is such an awesome bike to ride. That bit about the tail tidy with the reflectors bracket and that other part crashing down had me laughing as the same happened to me hahaha. I have been thinking about that center stand for a while and I will definitely buy it now from Motea.
Your bike looks great! I love my '19 Cafe. I put the Xitomer tidy tail on mine, it's very cheap but very easy to do. I also put on a Denali Sound Bomb mini horn. Puig mini (non LED) turn signals and a Dark SR Zero Gravity windscreen. I think you're going to love the ride.
I've got the self same bike new coming on the 28th of this month but also can't put it on the road until March 1st. Bought the grab rail, tank protector and radiator grill in silver with kawasaki stencilled on. I have also managed to obtain a reg of k900 followed by my initials, which it will be delivered with. For me, this is my retro bike, an older mate had a z1 in the early seventees that I always wanted but couldn't afford. English retros were really all before my time and I am 64. Most very young chaps of my age then were riding around on FS1E's and SS50's. I must like to warn you though, that if that fender extender comes unstuck and if the furthest end falls so it touches the tire, it could then jam under the existing mud guard, lock your wheel and bring you off. A similar thing happened to my ex wife on a bicycle and it nearly killed my son who was in a child seat, at the back, after the front wheel locked and my son's head butted the floor.
Thanks for the tip Steve. I'll be keeping an eye on it. I too am your age and this is my Sunday bike. I've been looking for a second bike for a while and fell in love with this the moment I saw it. A test ride on a non-SE RS convinced me.
Great video not bought one yet bit had a few Z 1000sx. Can I suggest you take the awful stickers off the tank, all the info on them can be found in your hand booklet, and in addition the paint on the tank won't fade and weather evenly because its covered up
Hi Steve . I am in Australia . Saw this clip and wondering if you could let me know exactly how to get that switch cover . ..looks genius . Cheers . Grant.
@@stevemac7329 I got a flat rear tire on the original Dunlop. I ended up getting a Metzeler Z8 sport touring rear tire to replace it. The front tire is still fine. The rear had under 5k on it. It was the first flat I ever got.
www.motea.uk/centre-stand-kawasaki-z-900-rs-cafe-18-22-center-stand-constands-580419-0 The above link is from the UK website. This is a new website I think because when I bought mine I dealt direct with Germany. Just now when I went on the German site it kept making me log on to the UK site.
I agree it does hardly raise the rear wheel unless you are on very flat ground. The main reason I wanted the stand was for lubeing the chain so I just put a thin board underneath it and it gives me loads of ground clearance.
Excellent video my good man, very informative and user friendly. I have the Kawasaki Ninja 1000sx at present However, I shall be having a test ride on the Z900RS SE when mine goes in for service. What a stunning looking motorcycle, you're very lucky. Safe riding & enjoy every minute of it 😎🏍👍
Does RUclips have an award for Best Unexpected Moment? Because I'd like to nominate that horse winney 🐴
Congrats for an excellent review. I am in Australia and am intending buying one in october. Your video has a down to earth approach.

Those DOHC stickers are exactly what I want to see! In my mind they should have come standard
Yeah, they were cast into the aluminium covers on the original.
Great jobs done, thanks for sharing with us.
Nice video 👍 side stand spring, you could bend the spring and fill the gaps with washers, then repeat on the opposite side.
Very informative video mate. 🇦🇺 👍🏼
I'm about to buy this motorcycle soon so this video was very helpful. Thank you Sir!

Same. Best looking bike I've seen in decades. Enjoy! 👍
Glad it was helpful.
Good on ya bro...good one...from New Zealand..

Four months later and several hundred miles and the fender extender is still there. Maybe I'm just lucky!

Skate lace hook readily available in sporting goods stores for those springs.

Very useful video, thank you!
gorgeus bike mate!enjoy
3:43 that would have been a great time to talk about the horsepower.
Anyone know how the centerstands do for ground clearance?
I love the new tail.. i hate all these rediculous pertruding plate brakets
Just one thing with it being a brand new bike, dealers normally fit any accessories free when pdi is being done... just a thought.
Thanks for your comment but for me fitting the accessories is part of the fun of getting a new bike.
Gorgeous.

Hmmm. I have considered removing them but there's part of me that likes the originality of keeping them on.
I’ve thought about that mrdee1986, , but not sure how to remove them cleanly without damaging the tank…..have you done it? Any tips?

You need to join the 'Kawasaki Z900RS UK' facebook group. Once accepted look up Geoff Hole and send him a message. He makes them and sell them.
What a wonderful bike... lucky bast... ;)
Enjoyed this thank you
Looks good!
Love the yellow, is it paint or decal ?
It's paint.
Thanks!
I noticed that you have Michelin Road 6 tires installed on your bike. I have been thinking of putting them on my Z900RS SE. How do you like them?
Julia apologies for the late reply. The Road 6's are perfect and really suit the bike.

Can you send a link for the centre stand? I"d really appreciate it.

Where can I find the covers for the exposed wires?
I did mention this in the video. Join the UK Z900Rs facebook group then message Geoff Hole.
Anyone have the link for this Z900 RS group in the UK on FB please? 👍🏻

the speckled stand raises the rear wheel very little, I had to weld two 4 mm plates to it
I agree it does hardly raise the rear wheel unless you are on very flat ground. The main reason I wanted the stand was for lubeing the chain so I just put a thin board underneath it and it gives me loads of ground clearance.
If you use a piece of 3/4 plywood say 2’x3’ it would catch the mess. Just mark it as Chain &rear wheel cleaning block
Hola Amigo 🏍️
Get the springs powder coated
Wouldn't the paint (powder coating) crack when the springs expanded?
@@stevemac7329 I don't know for sure but it hasn't come off my rear shock spring.
@@stevemac7329 another option- paint them with plastidip rubberised paint.
@@stevemac7329yes it would crack your right!
