To anyone that wasnt aware: I remember hearing on the dgd Facebook group maybe 5yrs ago that a huge reason Johnny is so hated was because he forced his girlfriend at the time to take heroin (holding her down n literally injecting her). Not to mention the more obvious reason that he'd always show up to shows way too high on heroin to function (pretty sure thats also what got him kicked out of Slaves!). He also has said that he was super high for all of DBM2 and couldn't remember recording it at all. Just so everyone knows who wasn't already aware! Still personally love his work on DGD despite all that.

I've seen Tillian 5 times now I believe and got VIP for one show and LOVE what he does but I really wish I was into DGD when Kurt and JC were singers and I wish I saw them live 🤩
Bassist was Tim Feerick. Unbelievably talented. Sadly he passed away almost a year ago from now, but he left such a wonderful work behind. Edit: after commenting I felt like I might have been wrong, and I was. The bassist for this album was Eric Lodge. Nevertheless, both Eric’s and Tim’s work is incredible.
The band consists of 5/6 people at a time, with 3 changes to their lead vocalist over their discography. This song features their original vocalist, Jonny Craig, who grew up singing in church choirs which is where he got his soulfulness from. Please check out Eidola playing "Loti" or "Querents" next please!
IMO, Loti isn't the best representation of Eidola stylistically or technically. Plus, it's really slow and 5 minutes long. Querents is incredible and closer to their standard. Also, Tetelestai, Aplissimus Machina, and Dendrochronology. Loti is undoubtedly beautiful, I'd rather see a more Eidola song.
Dance Gavin Dance has gone through a lot of changes over the years, but they've always been able to morph their sound mid song, pull out the funk or jazz influenced measures, and then dive straight from that into post-hardcore or metalcore infused sounds. One of the most dynamic bands out there, and one of the coolest.
I think their genre bending chops and experimental nature is what has kept them relevant while most post hardcore acts have kinda faded into obscurity for me.
this was my first song i heard from them.... needless to say they hooked me. I was going through the worst part of my younger life and this band really spoke to me. They were are and will always be my favorite band. Fantastic.

Watching someone respectfully cringe through some of the softest screams music has to offer is so heartwarming. I constantly remind people metal is literally classical on distorted guitars. Dance Gavin Dance is my favorite band at the moment, and I'm so happy that both of their "eras" the Tillian and Craig are amazing. It's almost like 2 different bands, with Will Swan's riffs remaining familiar throughout it all.

Perhaps "inspire the liars" or "man of the year" You do great work, i was going through a rough time a few weeks ago when i discovered you, your videos served as a nice distraction to help me get through... DGD is awesome, one of my 3 favorite bands of all time. I strongly recommend something like Evaporate, Young Robot, or Strawberry's Wake, so you can see what their sound's like more recently with Tilian as the clean vocalist.
DGD has been one of my favorite bands for a few years now! Subbed! Also, you should check out Caligula's Horse - Bloom & Marigold! The two songs go together (bloom is kind of an interlude) and the transition is seamless! A really cool prog band I feel like you'd enjoy.

The bass player of this band just passed away recently. Perhaps you could revisit them and check out one of their newer tunes. Perhaps "inspire the liars" or "man of the year"

DGD is awesome, one of my 3 favorite bands of all time. I strongly recommend something like Evaporate, Young Robot, or Strawberry's Wake, so you can see what their sound's like more recently with Tilian as the clean vocalist.
My dad is a retired elementary music teacher who loved his work. This is my favorite band, I may have to show him this.

DGD has been one of my favorite bands for a few years now! Subbed! Also, you should check out Caligula's Horse - Bloom & Marigold! The two songs go together (bloom is kind of an interlude) and the transition is seamless! A really cool prog band I feel like you'd enjoy.

I listened to Dance Gavin Dance a long time ago and couldn’t get into them but Blue Dream came on the radio playlist I was listening to and now I own almost every album . That just goes to show you that a great first impression , or song such as this one, can get you into a band you previously thought was bad.
