  • 2010 marks the first century of Hitachi's operations. This is the second in a series of video documentaries recording the history of Hitachi, Ltd. Why did Namihei Odaira, the founder of Hitachi, Ltd. decide to work in the Hitachi Mine even though it meant he had to give up his assured chance to become one of the elite engineers of Japan? This video examines the starting point of Hitachi, Ltd. by following Namihei Odaira's dream of creating original technology, which he pursued from his youth. [Produced in March 2010]

I can’t find anything about the slave mines Hitachi ran with POWs during WW2. This is a nice video that sanitizes the company’s war crimes. Great job!

Hitachi lost US$12.5 billion, the largest corporate loss in Japanese history. I’m surprised they’re still around to this day even though seems like that may not be the case recently

So using technology of somebody else because you don't feel that you're inferior to foreigners we should feel inferior to you so you come out with your brand before technology so everyone can surpass us sounds insidious to me
