    Festival do a Vienna red lager and a New Zealand Pilsner, not tried them myself.
    I have been using Nova lager yeast for over a year now with great results. I've not tried it at 20°C yet because I don't want it ferment to fast. I've used it at between 10 and 15, raising by a couple of degrees at the end. I ferment under pressure so I have carbonated beer by the time I cold crash.
    I will definitely use Nova lager in kit when pushed for time.
    Cheers guys 🍻

      Anders has done the Festival Vienna Red Lager, it was very good. I have another Coopers lager in the fermentor at the moment, using Nova lager yeast this time. currently bubbling away at 15 degrees.

    Love the vid as always. Not tried nova yeast......will have to give it a wirl. Tried californian yeast at 20 degrees with coopers pilsner, not to impressed, but nicer with 34/70

      The Coopers lager with the Nova lager yeast is currently in the fermentor at 15°C. Doing very nicely.

    Great video guys. What temp did you brew this at using Nova yeast? 🍺

    • @nigeandersextraordinarybee3723
      @nigeandersextraordinarybee3723  8 месяцев назад +1

      This was brewed with Diamond Lager yeast, set the temp to 14°C. My next Coopers Lager is with the Nova Yeast, it's in the fermentor now and showing 15°C.

    Cracking video. Do you use a fermentation fridge or ferment in a colder area of your house

    • @nigeandersextraordinarybee3723
      @nigeandersextraordinarybee3723  8 месяцев назад

      It depends what time of year.
      This was fermented in a cold conservatory with a heat mat and some insulation to keep it at the right temperature. In warm weather I use a fridge and heat mat.

      Anders here, I'm brewing a lager at the mo and I'm having to do it in a cooler area of the house which works during the cooler months. Not ideal though. I forget what Nige does, I'll give him a nudge.

      @@nigeandersextraordinarybee3723 thankyou I see there's a Californian lager yeast which brews at 18-20 degrees. Keep up the good work Pete

    Wow timing on the video. I just tried my 2nd coopers lager , and swapped the yeast for a Californian lager yeast, and it has a strong smell and taste of yeast , been very confused, but i heard you say you fermented for 15 days , i ONLY went 9 days could that be the reason for the issue ?? going to try again in a few weeks , if no change I might dump, possible first failure in 9 attempts.. I also did the Thomas coopers Hefe wheat (preacher) extract, made it as advised added 250 gms of dextrose came out at 5% So good gets better every week big recommendation for extract brewers. Look forward to next video .

      try fermenting for longer. I usually wait for the same reading three days in a row, then I cold crash it for 48 hours, basically I put the fermentor in the fridge. By cold crashing you get a clearer bottled beer much quicker, and much less sediment in the bottle. Thanks for watching.

    Do you guys actually drink Foster's? They don't even sell it here in Australia.

    • @nigeandersextraordinarybee3723
      @nigeandersextraordinarybee3723  7 месяцев назад +1

      Only drank it for the purpose of this channel, its unpleasant. I had no idea that they don't sell it I Australia. I do know there are decent beers there, VB is way better.

      You can buy the original Australian brewed Fosters in Australia but online only. Now if anyone from Victoria could confirm, it might possibly be available there in some shops or pubs?

    • @julienash9470
      @julienash9470 Месяц назад +1

      Pokersmith, not sure where in Australia you are, I'm in SA. Dan Murphy's have a Fosters they call Classic that I believe is brewed exclusively for them By the description with the lower abv is sounds similar to the UK version. Don't even try it out of curiosity as its vile. I took 1 sip and tipped it down the sink. The original is 5% it's OK but not a world beater is still shunned here. Barry McKenzie had a lot to do with it. Aussies got annoyed at being tied with the label that Fosters was all we drank here. The bit that gets me is that you hear youngsters openly say Ohhh Foster is crap when they've never even seen a bottle of it, let alone any.

    I have a fellow brewer who just adds 50% extra sugar to the brew... "the yeast will take it."

      It takes a bit to get the lager tasting any good. We really enjoyed their English bitter, after it had been bottled for 12 months!
