You know what's another good strat for Germany? Going Kaisereich, place in the sun, research super heavy battleship 1, the focus right below that gives you a -100% ahead of time for SHB 2 and you get super heavy battleship level 2 in 1938
Crossing the Atlantic is actually a really good focus late game if you want to fight the US but don't start building a navy early. It converts a ton of mills to dockyards after you defeat the Soviets so you don't need them much anymore anyway. I think it did about 90 last time I used it.
FeedBackGaming I don’t see your point. Yeah HOI4 will be updated for quite a while, but making a guide on something that might have a chance to be slightly outdated in a year isn’t the same thing as making a guide that is for sure to be completely outdated in 2 months.
Hey I just like watching more videos. For example I didn't know that license productions reduced research speed. That was helpful. As far as the navy guide goes, 2 months is still a lot of games you can play. If I stopped playing every paradox game that had a major update coming I would barely be able to play them as they are ALWAYS getting new updates.
so if i remember right in one of those dev diaries they said you will no longer be able to set 15 naval factories to producing one type of ship, but instead you will only be able to set 4 or 5 to producing hulls for those ships, but one thing they never said was how we make the modules for ships, do we need to have naval factories producing them or are they made by military factories.
I tried a strategy like that. No matter how much production I tried the allies just built too many fighters so I could barely not get the air superiority you need for paradrops. Sometimes it is just easier to defeat them at sea using a combined force of fighters, naval bombers and a decently powerful navy. Plus it is a hell of a lot more fun to destroy the allied navy.
@@Old_Ladies Wot? I am playing vanilla hoi4, regular difficulty, and by the time I go for the english channel usually early 1940 I have ~3k fighters, 1-1.5k CAS and 1-1.5k naval bombers. Easy to absolutely decimate the AI on both the sea and in the air. Building radar stations level 2 to cover the western north sea (for your initial naval battles while taking poland and france) and then later building them in northern france helps a ton, especially with the naval bombers.

great vid, really like the guides for the particular situations that aren't as transparent, like building a navy from scratch, or invading Southeast Asia through an abundance of naval invasions and shit terrain or supply like a Japan player must do.
currently y favourite navy type is to have submarines and destroyers in their own seperate thing away from battle fleets just to raid convoys and protect subs, and have nonstop production of light and heavy cruisers along with about 4 battlecruisers or battleships and maybe 2 super heavy battleships, just because they are good when theres no planes, and maybe a few carriers if i have extra resources, it works well for me, although reinforcing the fleets is hard to do. it takes time to build but it works wonders
about the aces .. divide up your aiforce as small as you willing to go (split several times is most easy done) the high amount of "batallions" is significantly increasing the chance of ace-generation
Submarine raiding can be pretty effective. I tried a game as Germany where I started out by going after Poland and Portugal - the latter to secure tungsten but also to get their island holdings. This gave me airbases all around the Iberian region, northern France, Gibraltar, the Azores, and up and down the African coast. Basing radars, fighters & naval bombers, plus a large number of small submarine fleets (so more convoys can be engaged at once) had a devastating impact on the allies later on. They tend to send their troopships without escorts. By 1948 or so I had actually caused 3M+ casualties to the US alone, and lost literally zero men to them. By the time I eventually got around to invading them, their wasteful troopships and war with Japan had them softened up. Having the lockdown on half the world's tungsten was an extra bonus, and allowed me to rush, then spam out thousands of jet fighters.
Even if people say it will be irrelevant, i'm sure there are some things you can still pull, like requesting licenses for carriers. something i didn't even know about. I've only used license production for when i was a major and friends wanted tigers in minor regions to annihilate the enemies nearby

If you're rushing naval you should convert almost all your mils to civs using war economy, then spam out dockyards, get the DEI's oil through invading the Netherlands, and get military access from Italy. It's way more effective than this is. Though Paradox still hasn't balanced naval bombing properly and rushing a massive airforce is still the best way to dominate navally so I'm not sure why you would build a navy except maybe to escort across the Atlantic or into Japan.
Basically my strategy is to start building up my big Navy after France's fall. Then I use the civilian factories of western europe to spam out my Synthetic Raffineries and begin building several Aircraft Carriers and the big Battleships and Battlecruisers. It works every single time. Let's see what this will look like in "Man the Guns" :D
I played an 'historic' Germany a few days ago. I mainly build submarines, but also a very small Kriegsmarine (1 Carrier, 6 Battleships, 5 Heavy Cruisers). I had around 60 Submarines out in the Atlantic to destroy the convoys. It was really hard to establish some sort of naval superiority with the Submarines, but after one half year, I killed everything in the Atlantic - even the big Battleships of the Allies. But I had enormous losses - I mean, if everything went bad I lost 20 Submarines out of my active 60 ones ina single battle, cause they were hunted down. But I build a big reserve in Brest, so this wasn't a problem. ;) After one year the UK and the US didn't had much of an navy left - both just around 50 ships. I have absolutely no explanation for this. Note that Italy and Japan were both not at war with the Allies! It was fucking crazy. In the end I annexed Vichy-France through Unternehmen Anton, grabbed their Navy (Aircraft Carrier, Battleships, Cruisers and endless Destroyers). So I began building an even bigger navy and wanted to invade the UK, but at some point I felt so OP that it wasn't funny anymore XD
8 destroyers and 4 light cruisers per capital ship. naval bombers, fighters, cas for airforce. 20-50 submarines for convoy raiding. convoy escort for light cruisers, mainly 3
Wait, why do you put pure fighters on carriers when naval bombers are best at actually sinking enemy ships? Also, doesn't Germany get a naval company with more deck space for carriers?
The best build for naval Germany is to spam light cruisers with max engine and as much light attack as possible. Secondly, you should build destroyers with max torpedoes and max engine. The light cruisers are fairly cheap and SHRED screens. The Destroyers will mop up the heavy ships after the screens are gone. Typically best to go with fleet in being for this build. You'll be able to pull off a sealion pretty easily by 1941 if you play things correctly.
for the spanish civil war i just sweep through the enemy divisions and ignore the states, at some point the ai takes madrid first and i sweep through the south just driving with my panzers over mans, at the end the civil war hold for nearly a year and i can upgrade the fighters engines to lvl5 and the stukas to bombing 3 with reliability of 80-88, and my Panzers are Veterans
