A pioneer of social reform and a renowned diplomat, he played a decisive role in the modernisation of the Greek state and the liberation of northern Greece and the islands of the Aegean Sea.
This particular coin has attracted attention within the numasmatic community with its unique design and historical significance. Greece's standard 50-cent euro coin of 2002 in circulation usually has a modest numismatic value. However, certain variations or exceptional specimens may fetch higher prices, especially under UNC and PROOF conditions. Recently, an extraordinary specimen of this coin was auctioned for $5000.
