  • The World’s largest sportfisher “Special One” had a first day of sea trials today. The 52m/ 171ft yacht, formerly known as Project 406, came from the drawing boards of Vripack and was built by Royal Huisman in Vollenhove. For the same video in 4K, please have a look at the one we uploaded a little later.

She needs some stabilizers or sea keepers she’s rolling most likely because she’s top heavy

Saw it today looked an old retro 1980s sport fishing boat definitely looks useless for any decent seas 👍 especially when the wind gets up 😂

She has stabilisers. This video shows footage of her sea trials. Testing how much she rolls with and without them amongst other things.

This Vessel is too tall with so many decks, and very narrow for a very uncomfortable ride. As well it could rollover in a storm with large beam seas. You can see in moderate seas how bad this vessel rolls!

People screaming top-heavy have absolutely no idea of naval architecture. You should see the build plan, that will show you that there is a lot more hull under the waterline. With a draft of 2.05m . Next to that the sloped design ( seen in a lot of warships )keeps most of the weight close to the water. This will be more stable than your grandma on her walker.

Very wrong! Go back and play in your swimming pool!!! This Yacht rolls by far more than any other!!

Was the thinking ‘the bigger the boat the bigger the fish?! It’s impressive but not a beauty to my taste. Although the hull is looking good.

Yeah, sportfishers are mostly for the serious deep drop and trawling fisherman that might want to be out for a week with a group of people for days at a time.
