Tim AND Chance there from the start. Not just Tim this time. Chance just shined in his bass voice. In the live version you see Chance playing the guitar and Austin playing the mandolin. They asked Chance to write this for them. And Rob is pulling out a little opera vibe. And that's the best beat boxer ever Adam doing the "Skull & Bones. It's fabulous.

Love this song!!! Chance wrote a banger! It’s the Skull & Bones game by Ubisoft. The game does look good doesn’t it?!! I think I heard the song will be in the game which is super cool. Home Free is so talented. They can do any genre of music. That was so much fun to listen to. Chance loves sea shanties & he wrote this song for the game "Skull & Bones". His deeper voice sounded great for this song. And of course all the background harmonies of the guys including Adam's fabulous vocal percussion. I'm not a gamer but I love this. There is also a shorter live version of this song which sounds great!
For me. This is the absolutely best pirate song ever done. Tim's deep bass is just phenomenal. Anam Chance has an awesome low bass also. He wrote this song for the game skull and Bones. Everything these guys have done it's just unbelievable. And yes, the video is what you're going to get in the game. I am thinking this is the top three best songs Home Free has ever done. Thanks to Adam Chance. It may be number one.

They got discovered by someone with Ubisoft when they did their Sea Shanty Medley a few years ago. They've had to sit on this secret since then until the game release was officially announced a while back. I don't know if I could do that!
I believe Skull and Bones was originally going to be an expansion for Assassin Creeds Black Sails. It's been held back for release so long, I think it may have evolved into its own thing now.
The guys did a bang up job with this! How cool has it gotta be to know your song will be played every time someone plays the game?! Well Done Chance!!

I would like Chance to write more often for Home Free. Home Free can just sing anything. Chance with his perfect low voice for this, Tim Foust's slightly lower voice that goes so well with Chance's. Adam Rupp who also contributes to the bass, but also shows the undisputed beatboxer / vocal percussionist / vocal artist. Austin Brown who also plays a musical part but then gets into it vocally with his powerful voice. And then Rob Lundquist who clearly shows his rich opera voice here. And then that harmony that sounds so beautiful.

Oh, I’ve been anticipating your reaction to this one! I wasn’t disappointed! You really got into it!! This was too secret for about a year. Ubisoft approached Home Free after they saw their Sea Shanty Medley and asked if they would write and record a shanty for them for a video game. Chance did a bang up job on writing and he and Hime Free did the same on the recording. The real video will be out after the game’s release in late August.
Need to review the live version performed at the ubisoft venue. You can see Adam doing the "skull and bones" chant while still doing the percussion. Also Chance plays guitar and Austin plays mandolin. I love❤ love❤ love this sea chant. Way to go Adam Chance a d the whole incredible Home Free crew. There is truly nothing musical that they cannot do, and do well!!!!🎉❤
What may be the BEST part of this video is all the tacit commentary from Mason. I cracked up every time the buzzer sounded and a big red X expressed how far back he rolled his eyes, lol.
Home Free always seems to do something musically that surprises you. Although this wasn't technically an 'acapella ' song it still surprises you with the vacillations and techniques they come up with. Home Free sets the bar pretty high.
While the song is good and I do like it, it's not my favorite Home Free. That doesn't stop it from being catchy and getting stuck in my head for days. It's rough when you are trying to sleep, and this song is on repeat in your brain. Great reaction, thank you.

The opening of the live version released has monster bass notes by Tim and Chance. There is a funny part at the beginning where Austin is just watching like in awe of the notes they are hitting.

Great to see you reaction to this - such an incredible piece Chance has written, and so cool for them to be involved with this game. A lot of the game reactors who saw the live of this assumed that Tim's voice was being artificially lowered, because they're just not used to the ridiculous bass you can get in acapella.
Home Free announced this song will be included in the tour.
I just hope the venue can handle two basses.
How exciting is it that Ubisoft approached Home Free to write music for their video game of the same name, (Skull And Bones). Chance did a fabulous job of writing and the guys all just killed the performance. I'm not usually a fan of them using instruments , but the guitar and mandolin were exactly perfect for this. Adam was doing the vocal percussion/beat boxing and it was sick!.Sounds like he brought back his wave sounds, castanets (or maybe that was bones rattling together. lol) Chance's lead, Tim's bass, awesome. Rob and Austin back there singing the hell out of it beautifully. They did a shorter live performance for the gaming convention, it's also on You Tube. Worth a look. I'm not even a gamer, but this music is so exciting, it makes me wish I were. lol. Loved your reaction!

Mason is right in that the game is not, exactly, connected to the Assassin's Creed games. It is standalone, along with whatever storyline it has. There IS a connection to the AC games, though, in that it came about because people enjoyed the sailing mechanics of AC: Black Flag. Which, of course, is the pirate game. Also the first AC game that steps away from the Desmond storyline, though not entirely. It's an interesting game, so you could always find a Let's Play if you want to see if the storyline itself would interest you.
Mortuis HF LIVE SKULL AND BONES! It's shorter, but worth it. You are going to love Tim, Adam and Chance, but Austin and Rob's harmonies are going to make you swoon.
The funny thing is this is the sea battle that they took out of assassin’s creed Valhalla. And turned it into a full game .
Watching you enjoy this one was fun. But it does surprise me when people don't recognize Adam's voice is carrying much of that bass. He killed with this one!

Not completely, COMPLETELY wrong about the Assassin's Creed - Skull and Bones was originally going to be an expansion I've heard for the Assassin's Creed game Black Flag. And yeah, written by Chance. :) He did SO GOOD. This is already among my favorite Home Free songs. And I absolutely agree that I need to play this now. And let the game repeat the starting trailers and such, assuming this is the song that'll play for that, before I actually start each time.
The Skull and Bones is so well timed because it is percussion, in essence since Adam Rupp is doing it while beat boxing the rest of the song.
From what I understand the title of the song is the name of the game. There is a live version of this that they did during a release.

If you watch the live performance of this, you will note that Adam Rupp is doing the Skull and Bones in the midst of his percussion.
I thought so too but someone corrected me saying it is Rob doing the "Skull & Bones" chant.
@@dagmar.6954 we really do need to get a decision on this from the guys so we can quit niggling on it. I lean towards Not Adam because he appeared to be beatboxing totally at that point, but who knows.

It's Rob. There's a point later in the live where the only thing being sung is "skull and bones!" and Rob is very clearly singing it. The first chant threw people off because they're used to the camera focusing on whoever is singing, but this was an Ubisoft camera operator, not someone with HF, and they clearly did not know where to focus in several sections of the song, so no reason to think they focused on Adam for any reason other than that he was visually pleasing to look at (and dressed the most piratically).

I really hope this music is the theme song of the game in question because these guys have earned it with their own talents. Is Adam Chance doing most of the bass verses? Tim is masterful on the bass and, as usual for Home Free, the harmonies are stellar. They just get better and better. Thanks for a fabulous reaction Mortius 😊
There's a live version out from the Ubisoft Forward event. In it, you can see that it starts out with both Chance and Tim in bass, with Adam doing the drone sound you hear (He said in the premiere chat he was overtone singing -- which is a technique to create two notes from one singer -- to do the drone). Chance is playing guitar and, in a bit of a surprise, Austin is playing mandolin. Chance leads the whole song with Tim below him. Rob provides the "skull and bones!" chant (You'll see people claiming it's Adam but that's because the Ubisoft camera operator, who didn't know who was singing what, focused in on him the first time you hear the chant. But if you look at his throat and neck muscles, he's clearly beatboxing, not singing. Later in the live song there's a part where "skull and bones!" is the only thing being sung and Rob is very obviously singing it. (It also sounds very much like Rob's lower, resonant opera/manly pirate voice.). The live version doesn't have the final laugh, but based on ranges, timbres, individual vocal styles (Tim is growly/gravelly and Chance is smooth, smoky, and airy), not to mention a very similar low gravelly laugh in the pre-Chance The Devil Went Down to Georgia which a friend pointed out to me, the final laugh is Tim.

@@creationsbychancecan Oh, sorry. I use "Adam" for Rupp since he's the original and had 16 years seniority on the name, and "Chance" for Adam Chance. Adam Rupp is doing the overtone singing. Chance is on lead and Tim is, I think, a whole octave below him.

Austin played the mandolin at the beginning of their live performance at the Ubisoft game announcement event. However I seriously doubt that he’s the one playing mandolin in the studio version of the song that we’re listening to here.

Comparing this with the live version, to me the chorus sounds rather overproduced, multi-tracked until the tenors are swamped in their own voices. Rob and Austin do a fantastic job (Austin also plays the mandolin - who knew?), but live Adam Chance just owns it, right from the start. He is not a cute Johnny Depp sort of pirate, but a hard and cynical adventurer, and i am here for it!

Ubisoft has doubled-down on insuring the success of the release of this game! The cut-scenes coupled with Home Free’s music will have BOTH camps buying this game!

I don't think anyone else is seeing this. Months back, a beta test was released for players to try, and it failed miserably, resulting in the game being delayed further. We have had no word of any improvements made to the game thus far, and people basically lost interest. But Ubisoft has a group sing a song, and again avoids mentioning what improvements they've made in that time, and suddenly everyone wants the game?
Fun fact: if i tried to imitate Tim's bass (without the pitch, because I'm female) I would get a tongue cramp all the way to my collarbones. Guess how I know...
