"We DIDN'T Pay You ENOUGH" Said The Homeowner When I Cut The Hedge

- A new Client asked me to cut back an overgrown Beech hedge that had not been trimmed for several years. When I finished another job I went to this address, after discussing the scope and cost of the work with the owner I was paid immediately and started work. The hedge was overgrown but not very big, about 30m long and 3m high. For this job I decided to use a more powerful trimmer Stihl hs82R and it did the job quite easily and after almost two hours the hedge was trimmed, then I went to the recycling center to unload my trailer and then started cleaning, but since I started work in the afternoon it started to get dark and I had to finish the job. I continued the next day and immediately continued cleaning, then I decided it would be a good idea to blow all the fallen leaves that were lying in the backyard and also under the hedges and for this I used my new Stihl br800. When I was left to pick up the leaves the owner of the house came up to me and said "my wife said we didn't pay you enough" and gave me an extra 50 euros. This was a nice bonus so I decided to finish the job by removing weeds from the sidewalk next to the hedge.
The whole job took 5 hours and two full trailers!

The other owner the day before Christmas gave him a bottle of whisky and chocolates. Which I found to be disgraceful and shocking whether he the owner had broken finger's or not. Especially when he worked in such dreadful weather with heavy rain.
It's nice to see a homeowner acknowledge a job well done and then "tip" extra! And you did go the extra mile for a job well done!

What good people, not only did they pay you up front they gave you a bonus. Unlike the customer you had the other week who claimed you hadn’t done enough! Hope you got paid for that previous job. You always do a neat and tidy job and in this one you went above and beyond ❤

Well, I know for me...I'm out almost every day in the summer trying to cut back the winter growth. But I have kids, an infant, and not enough time. So things get out if hand. It's frustrating, for sure.
You never know what people are going through. Learn to show a little grace.
To be honest, I have neighbors, who are not accustomed to doing yard work, it’s something they did not learn while growing up. Myself and one other neighbor help others so the homes around us look kept up. Now I just need to convince the one neighbor to let me trim the Douglas Fir branches that overhang his fence, before they snap and take down the fence and maybe part of my section too.

That new trimmer made cutting those thick branches look easy! That's worth its weight in gold! So much less wear and tear on your machines, including the most important machine you own - your body! You don't want to wear your arms out or hurt your back wrestling with those overgrown hedges. It's a relief, I'm sure, to have a tool that works harder so you don't have to!
You took that home from looking a bit messy and not very attractive to looking neat and trim and really cute! It really is a massive change. That last bit of removing the weeds, etc all along the property's edge made a huge difference and proves the difference between your work ethic and others'.

What a job! I think the owner did right by paying you extra because you certainly deserved it. trimming the hedges was a lot of work but then cleaning the ground under them showed what a dedicated professional you are. PS, the hedges look naked! But come spring they will have a new wardrobe.

What a great job in trimming the hedge.
Understandably, they are happy with the result. The neat result makes it all more pleasant. And the lawn and hedge will look better in the spring.
The gutters are also clean! And not unimportantly, the street and the neighborhood also look nicer.
I also gave my garden a final tidy up yesterday, and a backpack leaf blower is indispensable. A Dolmar 53 cc does its job quickly and cleanly. Ready for winter.

In the meantime, the clean-up has been completed, my plot is 1600 square meters, with two x 60 meters of yew hedge. The neighbor's maple tree was actually the biggest misery this year. The seeds are not very easy to clean up. And the grass that I over-seeded this year with Advanta Seeds Renova is looking very nice! ;)
The Honda 2417 riding mower had difficulty vacuuming due to the humid weather. The Dolmar MG5300.4 blower was ultimately useful in this regard, as well as with a final round to make everything orderly.
In total and also for comparison purposes, it would have been something like two full semi-trailers, the size you drive.
But again and as already said, it is often a big job, but the final result is the pride we have.

Sometimes I wonder if people take garden maintenance or hedge cutting into consideration when buying a house.
I have a lot of clients and I can definitely say that when they build or buy a house they don't even think about gardening, but after a while they realize that it's not so easy to maintain!
