Another excellent video. The bookies have Rowett at 1/2, Rosenier at 2/1, Evatt and Neill both at 5/2, Darren Ferguson at 4/1 and David Wagner at 6/1. Good luck getting the manager you want. KRO.

@@BCFCRoyalBlueI know Kieran McKenna has been linked to Brighton but if he is a decent manager and not motivated by money then Birmingham should at least talk to him. He has a proven track record in League One AND the Championship. There is nothing to lose - he can only say no - then you can look for someone else. On the other hand he could say yes and Birmingham could be in the Premiership in 2 years time.

I think we have to accept that we won't get another manager of the quality of Tony Mowbray, simply because there are very few of his calibre and none of those who are would be available or want to drop to League one. So we have to pick the best from the rest. Personally I would like Lee Carsley, although most of his work has been with either Under -21's or as an assistant manager, maybe that would make him a bit more inclined to promote players like Dixon and Donovan etc into the first team. If not him then neither Rowett, Bruce or Rosenior would be my pick, because I think if any of them took the job they would consider it a step down and would be doing it for the money. It would have to be someone who above all has a hunger and desire to win every game and make a name for himself and if that means a manager from the lower leagues then so be it. Great video as usual. Thank you for your comment and we are pleased you enjoyed the podcast. We mentioned lee Carsley in the podcast and I would also like him. He has lots of coaching experience and you could see him developing a style and identity for the club. He is also an ex Blues player and assistant manager so he knows the club. I appreciate that he is not a high profile name, however the club have already gone down that road and that did not work out well. Someone like Lee Carsley might be just what we need! KRO

Dave Challenor the manager of Stockport County would be a far better option for BLUES! Where he's managed 146 games, with 81 wins, 29 draws and 36 loses! The 48 year old likes to play 3-5-2 formation with a PPG: ratio of 1:86! 👍. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿KRO!💙

Yeah DC seems to be a popular name floating around on social at the moment. He could be one of those managers who really builds onto the next level of his career and takes us up the leagues. Yeah, fair point. I think this is the biggest problem having Rowett. He is clearly too defensive. It's been all about Alex Neil and Paul Heckingbottom.

You two are absolute gents, credit to you both! That said, poor Steve Bruce - kidding. Shame about TM but, whatever we all think, life is bigger than football.
My own preference is for a young manager that can create a blue print (no pun intended) for the future. Ian Evatt fits that bill for me, he's transformed Bolton. Alex Neil is another decent choice and perhaps has the credentials to get us higher. Closer to home, Carsley I think would be a good option, if a little sentimental. Personally, I think we need new blood with fresh ideas at the club.
Here's a question for you; imagine the recent past had not happened although we were still relegated; and Steve Bruce was a name suggested, would you think him a decent prospect? I know many Blues fans will hate me for this but I would take him if that was case, not take him now. Anyway, I'll let you both debate that one.

Thanks, Mark, really appreciate the comment and kind words! :)
When I watched the video back, I felt bad for giving him a bit of a bad review as he has been such an important part of our club. Especially during that 00-07 period. Many many fond memories under Bruce, it was just with the owners and with the ambition I feel looking at older managers might not be the best strategy. Fresh energy :)
Fans mentioned Ian Evatt a lot these past few days, and I think you/them wouldn't mind him at all. I like your line about fresh blood. I would to find the next Kieran Mckenna / Liam Rosenior, which means taking a gamble to some extent, but imagine finding a gem who can be with us for the best part of 5-10 years developing their career whilst we climb the leagues.

First and foremost, I want to join you to wish Tony Mowbray a full and speedy recovery. I hope to see him back at St Andrews once he's fully recovered so we can say goodbye properly.
Now my attention turns to the new manager. This is a decision that the club has got to get right. There's no denying that painful and valuable lessons will have been learnt from last season.
We players going and the club moving forward, I want this theme to continue with who we appoint. So I don't want any of the old faces that have been the number 1 in the past. I want a young and hungry manager who gets Blues and has both the coaching and managerial qualities that we need as part of the long-term project.
Being able to effectively communicate with the media and the fans is really important and just someone who knows and understands what it means to be a Bluenose.

His honors? won manager of the month 1 time in 2012 and 1 time in 2013 both in league 2... that's it! This is a caretaker mid table manager who hides behind sensible interviews and just tries not to get embarrassed on the pitch which is why he is so defensive. Not a winner... just say no

Do they go for a young up and coming manager like these or will they go for someone with a little more experience? I would like to see a good young coach come in and develop the team. A little like Kieran McKenna did at Ipswich. KRO

I don’t see Carsley as an option, I’d expect any half decent coach to manage 2.4 points per match given he has the best of young English talent to choose from.
I dislike Neil for his ‘housery’ antics when we’ve played PNE.
Is Rosenior likely to be interested given his allegiance to Ruiny?

Rosenoir has come out and said he isn't interested but that was before Mowbray actually came out and stepped down for his health. Carsley I am also unsure about as you are right the England youth teams have notoriously been very strong.

You rejected Darren Ferguson giving the reason as: “Just don’t want him!’ This was after talking about the importance of the research and the win ratios of the one’s you recommended. I’m puzzled by that because Fergusons total stats up to the start of last season was over 700 career games and has chalked up over 300 wins with a 42 per cent win ratio as he prepared for the 2023-2024 campaign. Last season - 46 games 25 wins a 54 percent win ratio. In essence a better record than ANY other candidate you suggested but you said “Just don’t want him!” You’ve got to have a reason haven’t you? Peterborough scored 84 goals last season, just missed promotion, play attacking football and he bought Dembele for £600,000 and sold him for £2.64m!
    I’m a bit puzzled if I’m honest.

Very thorougher and valid points. Happy to put my hands on this one and say I didn't know all of that and we didn't research Darren Ferguson because he hasn't technically been linked to the club (Or that we had heard). We mainly discussed the managers who have been linked or mentioned in the news / social media.
If we discussed every manager in depth the video would have been about 5 hours long with several days of research. We also did a very quick "yes or no" with Frank Lampard, Ashley Cole and Scott Parker. These videos are just meant to be a bit of fun.
Now you've provided the stats maybe he should be in contention. Really impressive!

Depends on what the club now wants. A manager for a quick fix ( Alex Neill or Gary Rowett) for a promotion and then to be competitive in the championship or an exciting young manager like Graham Potter to take us all the way. How ambitious are the club on the pitch?

If we appoint a manager with a view to just getting us out of League One and we achieve that it will mean that we will probably have to start to build again for the Championship the following season. I therefore think that we should consider getting players that will be able to adjust and play in the Championship in this transfer window. KRO

Don't get me wrong the improvements at our ground, the training grounds and the plan in be in our new home in 5 years are excellent, but in line with that we should be aiming for very the top when it comes to the new manager, his coaching team and a new captain. I find the hype around Rosenoir strange as he hasn't done much especially when Lampard gets dismissed as a just a big name despite doing better than Rosenoir and getting Derby into the playoffs and introduced players like Mason Mount (He also gave young players debuts at Chelsea, finshed 4th and lost in the FA Cup final). Lampard didn't have a great time at Everton but Ancelotti didn't either and he isn't bad !
