If celebi has the "Time recall" ability, I can see it working really well with Melmetal. Evolve early in active spot and use Meltan's Amass while being protected by Melmetal's HP and Ability, until he is fully charged.
Also exeggutor ex with the new exeggcute energy acceleration attack. It would make that high retreat cost a lot more tenable if you want to pivot it around
23:08 The set is called Mythical Island, I would be SUPER surprised if there wasn’t an Alolan Exeggutor that needs 2 or 3 energies. Maybe even 2 different energy types if it’s a Dragon.
Something to consider if Articuno becomes prevalant, maybe because of Vaporeon, Blue reduce damage on all Pokémon, so that means Articuno doesn't damage the board. Also less relevant, it affects Dragonite as well.
time recall could be really interesting for primeape to use promo mankeys attack if the opponent is intentionally avoiding hitting primeape until they can 1shot it
If celebi has the "Time recall" ability, i can see it working rly well in the Butterfree/VenusaurEX deck since with the find a friend caterpie u can search for all venusaur evos super easy and butterfree is tankyer than the caterpie sooo ye, i often cant use the caterpie cause it has to low HP and evolving it means not useing the move anymore
5:32 something i just realized about Aerodactyl that makes it a little better, its ability, at least as written, works from the bench, so it could work as an annoyance especially combining it with Sabrina/Pidgeot to force them to either pay the retreat cost or not evolve 😁 I'm excited to use it even if it's just going to be ok 🎉
Solid analysis. There's a lot of new players to TCG Pocket who aren't familiar with the physical TCG, so good to have someone spreading info on how things are expected to work. I will say, I think Aerodactyl is a bit underrated in discussion. A lot of people are expecting a full evolution lockout, but that would be utterly broken. The purpose of the ability is to disrupt but not outright destroy non-Basic decks. It'll be best against aggressive Stage 1/2 decks like Starmie EX or Machamp EX, and Stage 1 stall decks like Weezing or Wigglytuff EX. It also gives Aerodactyl a lot of value going First OR Second. First allows you to get the jump on evolution, meaning Aerodactyl's ability kicks in before the opponent has a chance to evolve. 2nd gives it the jump on offense, which Aerodactyl excels at, as its effectively Fighting type Starmie EX. This means in both situations vs those types of decks, it will have an automatic advantage and start the game off with big momentum. I do agree that the searchability of Old Amber is the biggest thing that calls its consistency into question though. On the other hand, in the event that you find Old Amber after your starting draws, not playing Aero itself aggessively still has value as it's a reasonably bulky, low retreat, low energy, high damage attacker in the wings with a passive that's active from the bench and forces the opponent to HAVE to evolve from the bench, limiting potential strategies. This is all to say, the card isn't a bust if you don't draw into it Turn 1/2. Still, this Old Amber restriction is the part that affects its viability the most. I doubt itll be nearly as meta defining as Mew is, but it strikes me as a very useable, well balanced card. Its the one im most excited to experiment with.
I think the new Exeggcute has potential in decks that need to stall to set up, like Dragonite. If you go second, you can get a grass energy and evolve next turn to attack. If you go first, just don’t worry about attacking and evolve on your next turn. You still have a 130hp wall that can heal with Erika.
So what happens when two Mew EX are face off against each other? I'm Guessing geneome hacking will fail or that they will only be able to use Psyshot against each other? This could be really annoying because neither party will want to switch out to a stronger pokemon as mew the opponents mew will use your attack
think if they put her in the game she would prob cure status conditions (not game changer but nice to have as an option) maybe as a bonus it could heal 20 or 30 hp but not more + heal status conditions. (dont think healing 50 or 60 only would be an option cause Erika is already rly strong)
18:57 I agree, Blue is super underwhelming. I was thinking -20 damage for a supporter or even -30, but if it was an item -10 or -20. -10 is just unfortunate, because it only delays the inevitable *sometimes*. Best use case is if you’re about to get perfectly knocked out, and you hope they don’t have Gio, or if you would get knocked out if they have Gio in their hand. But it’s not a hand trap, they just get to keep a Gio for the next mon. So you get countered by the card that you’re wanting to counter half the time, and you’re not even a perfect counter. It just needs to be better, and -20 would have done that. In the original TCG Plus power was +10 and Plus Defend was -20 and it was still a little underwhelming…
Blue is aight. Definitely better than what people make it seem to be. It says ALL of your Pokemon take -10 damage from your opponent Pokémon attacks while Giovanni says that it does +10 damage to your opponent active Pokémon. So this means Blue is able to protect the bench from attacks like Articuno blizzard or Zebstrika Thunder spear. Plus if Dragonite attacks all 4 Pokémon then it will deal -40 less damage. Very good in those situations. Might be better as we get more cards, and we still got to see the rest of the carpool. Hopefully there is a blue full art like the gym leaders along with leaf 🥲
@ Yeah, but those are so niche that it doesn’t warrant running a whole card. If Articuno or Dragonite were the best cards in the format, it’d be different, but as it stands I really think it should be -20
@@pjanderson4876for sure. In card games it’s better to be proactive than reactive. Cards that rely on your opponent doing something typically sucks since it takes control away from you. It being a supporter really sucks compared to the rest we have.
I wish it could be a response card. If Giovanni gets played. This card counters it but you have to be protective and does nothing if they don't have the Giovanni in hand.
I think increasing the deck size or the points to win to 5 would be good for the game. What good are releasing OP cards when you have no way to counter them?
Hear me out: with the new vaporeon, dragonite is gonna be eating. 2 eevee, 1-2 jolteon, 2 vaporeon, and dragonite line with maybe a wall. Actually be able to load up dragonite super fast with the energies you need
I've been thinking about Vaporeon decks and there are quite a few options, personally I would like to try 2 old Vaporeons and 1 new one, since the old one is a bit tankier with the self healing, and with the new Leaf trainer you can rotate them around if they are about to die, and maybe also have one other pokemon on the side to build up (Articuno/Lapras EX/ Blastoise/Gyarados). This should allow for easy rotation with the new Vaporeon power 🎉 The better deck would probably be Starmie/Articuno+Vaporeon+Blastoise for good early+late game.
Exeggcute should have like 70 HP to be good, unless we have Alolan Eceggcutor like someone suggested in the comment with more energies needed to attack which would be dope tbh! Especially if it needs one Grass and one Colorless energy!
Feedback. We think alike, brother ^^ I quite enjoyed this analysis. Keep up the good work. Though I'm a bit more bullish on Blue. Best wishes. Looking forward to more from ya ^^
Honestly for celebi ex i think they might use the version of Celebi V , which almost the same with old prime celebi ex, except celebi attack have additional effect to switch itself with any benched pokemon
Wouldn't Blue be useful for Venusaur EX Deck, along side Erika, Potion, Butterfree, and Venusaur EX heal, wouldn't that make the deck really hard to kill?
I think people are giving vaporeon too much credit, sure its alright, but i think its only ideal when your misty doesnt instantly flip tails which alot of times it flips tails, sure making it like a pseudo surge is interesting but surge is a close out the game card to insta kill anything with 140 or less hp, starmie ex nor articuno are capable of this, getting full energy on articuno and starmie is already not difficult, most people will want to use this with Gyarados or Blastoise, but unless water gets like a magneton type card it wont be all that good and you will be better off playing your deck as a pure articuno/starmie, articuno/greninja or some other Articuno EX or Starmie EX variant, i do predict that the 5th unknown ex will be a Gyarados Ex that might actually be good but only time will tell.
Blue is very weird because it’s definitely supposed to be a tempo card but it cost too much tempo. I think if it was an item -10 could be justifiably but being a trainer is a very steep opportunity cost. I think as a trainer -20 is a must and even then a majority of the time a potion is better.
I’m looking forward to using that Vaporeon but I still need another starmie ex somehow. Also really hope we see an energy acceleration ability from celebi cus I love venusaur
Idk man I still think it might say the conditions have not been met if you can't complete the entire effect including discarding the right type of energy

haha was just thinking that

The other EX is Pidgeot , if you look at the new solo missions picture. So we just don't know 1 more 🤔
Its serperior
Volcarona
Gyarados ex
I bet on volcarona (maybe immersive ex for that volcano one) and prolly gyarados for waterfall immersive
It's Gyarados EX

So whoever is second wins anyways 😂
Supporter: Nurse Joy
Effect: During this turn, take one fainted Pokemon in your discard pile, and put them in the active spot.
With 0 energy? Wild. Free point.

This is quality. Earned my sub without question

Except it does not work on dragon type pokemon. Dragonite and dragon pokemon in general are not supported at all this set

You can't play 2 old and 1 new vaporeans, they all share the same name, so they're considered as the same pokemon. 2 max.
@kazene5235 ah, thought it was per card. Oh well 😅
Hey Tilly! Thanks for the awesome content! Keep it up! Also, reports are the other 2 EX Pokemon are Gyarados and Pidgeot. 😊

really looking for more support cards to make dragonite competitive.

10 damage isn’t that impactful in a deck that is already all about tanking.how many times you lose by 10 points with a venusaur

My guess or more accurately hope is that the Pidgeot ex has some sort of synergy with it.
I’m looking forward to using that Vaporeon but I still need another starmie ex somehow. Also really hope we see an energy acceleration ability from celebi cus I love venusaur
The 4th is Pidgeot EX my friend
You haven't built the Dubwool Decimation deck yet I bet....75 percent win-rate son!
So everything seems to be buffing Pikachu. Grass already has a energy acceleration but the Pokemon kind of sucks. Will leaf go into a mewtwo deck?
Blue is good against Articuno EX as it does 10 dmg to all benched pokes
Leaf + Articuno ex + Vaporeon might be nasty
Why is exeggcute be to going second dependent? If you go firdt you evolve anyways and attack as usual
I believe New Exeggcutor - New Vaporeon deck will be good.
Blue would be good in mewtu vs mew+mewtu to not get oneshot that easy. Also against raichu plus giovanni
My question is, will they take Genetic Apex out of rotation completely, just for a mini booster pack? My instinct says no.
Nah
why no one talk anout pidgeot ex as its kinda shown the npc decl Blue and Pidgeot EX
@TillyTCG play Blue the turn you one shot with Mewtwo EX so Mew EX can't 150 you back
Celebi will have a call a friend ability
Literally just considered that minutes ago 😭 that’s another very common grass ability, and would make grass much better as well
If they follow what attacks celebi have in the original tcg, it's gonna be a good card
26:29 "70HP always better than 60HP in this game" You don't say. lol
I know it’s controversial but I had to say it
They should give water and fire Taurus
Blue + Melmetal or less impactful Cloyster
Dhelmise in Exeggutor ex, since it only needs 1 energy all excess can go on Dhelmise. Faster to power up than searching pieces for Beedrill.
Blue stop articuno blizzard 10’s???
Where mew + ditto
Idk man I still think it might say the conditions have not been met if you can't complete the entire effect including discarding the right type of energy
