    Seems like they over committed defense to the open side. Also gave away penalty which made 2nd defender get caught flat footed.

      Hi Brett, with only 25m of space this should have been defendable with the numbers NY had. The 2nd defender biting was the key to the failure, along with the inside defence not getting enough width.

    Looking at the overhead view, this just seems like an incredibly poor defensive setup. They handed their opponents an overlap even before the scrum was set, and did nothing to fix that.
    The try would likely have been scored with any number of moves here, including a simple draw and pass move with no dummy runners.
    I do like the move though.

      Hi Alasdair, it's definitely not the best defensive set you'll see. Just before this scrum there was another 5m further in field where NY did defend with an extra defender. OG went the same way but hit the short line instead. I think this had an influence on the way it was defended in addition to the space being smaller. It should still have been defendable given that the 9 and 6 are a key part of the defensive system here.
