    Dang the Win Mini looks incredibly well-designed on the inside. It's beautiful.

    Just a pointer to avoid extra lint to clean. Instead of using a paper towel, you cn use coffee filters as those are lint free and also fairly cheap and readily available in most peoples homes

      i was just coming to say this! aeropress filters work the best imo because of their small size and firm weave.

    Great tutorial, thank you Phawx. Considering the current paste is pretty recent and seems to be well applied I'm not going to change yet to PTM7950 to cool a few degrees (i'm not even pushing the mini hard for now). But couple of months down the track or next year when the existing paste will probably be dry I'll definitely come back to this video and apply PTM7950.

    Obviously different but thermal pads compared to paste, I did this on a liquid cooled 6900xt and the pad was a super high quality pad but it would still exceed heat limits and shut down. With paste it runs at ambient. Makes me feel like paste has to better in this situation too?

  • @TheGrandRapidian
    @TheGrandRapidian 6 месяцев назад

    Would you say that the PTM 7950 is better than say, a high quality thermal paste like the Prolima PK-3?

  • @sindrisuncatcher653
    @sindrisuncatcher653 8 месяцев назад

    What are the surface temperatures like after changing thermal compounds? I've heard that the win mini gets uncomfortably hot around the face buttons if you run it above about 15W, and I was wondering if improving conductivity to the fan (and reducing backsplash in the airflow) would help with that...

  • @o0Dan0o
    @o0Dan0o 11 месяцев назад

    While a ~3 degree delta doesn't look like much, it's a pretty massive gap when it comes to TIM. Most traditional TIMs will be within a few degrees of each other, from best to worst, so PTM is clearly doing a great job here!

    • @BahhBahhBrownSheep
      @BahhBahhBrownSheep 8 месяцев назад

      that literally is within a few degrees, so this is nothing new. What is new, is that PTM7950 supposedly never gets worse over time.

    • @KristopherBlakeley
      @KristopherBlakeley 11 месяцев назад +1

      Do not over-torque the screws on the cooling solution. You will strip them. If you plan on re-torqueing the screws, use a torque wrench set to a very low value. Around 0.5NM, or 4.5 inch-lbs.
