    Bro I have to give you major credit for flawlessly draining that oil in one perfect column not a single drop on the ground. I made a total mess it even spattered on my clothes and face 😝 but to my defense it was my first time. Hopefully I will improve next time. Thanks for the video.

      Haha thanks man. Just keep inward pressure on the bolt until it is all the way screwed out. It takes a little practice. I have had my fair share of oil spill situations for sure.

    • @Ichibuns

      You can always use a fluid extractor to get the oil out. Then you'll only need to worry about what's in the filter. You also won't need to worry about the oil plug and its gasket.

    • @MarleyJaxGarage

      It’s a lot easier if you get a skid plate with oil filter access. Overall it is a pretty simple process. I had a f150 ecoboost that was a whole different story.

    Cut a 7 inch access panel in the skid plate to get to the filter, purchase the fomoto valve for the drain plug to better control the oil draining into a five gallo jug…purchase from motive x the filter wrench that have finger plates that match the ribs on the filter housing
    Use amzoil filters while more expensive the oil flow better….everyone has oil preference I use the best Penzoil Ultra

    Tundra oil change intervals are recommended by Toyota every 10k miles. If you check your Owners Manual in the maintenance log section, you’ll notice that Oil Changes are not listed on the 5k, 15k, 25k, etc intervals. Personally, I was concerned with the 10k mile intervals. I have 25k miles on my 2020 Tundra Platinum 4x4 and the dealership has only changed the oil twice at 10k and 20k miles. After watching The Car Care Nut’s recent video titled “TOYOTA OWNERS! Please NEVER Do THIS to Your Toyota!”, he convinced me to ignore Toyota’s “recommended 10k oil change” and start changing it every 5k miles. Here’s the link if you care to watch. ruclips.net/video/TJhFAwFv-O0/видео.html

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  2 года назад +1

      Yea I did all my research and it’s just common sense that more frequent oil changes would keep the engine cleaner. This is my first new truck so I decided I would change it every 5k miles no matter what. Also I just don’t trust the dealership oil technicians not to put my drain plug back in with an impact.

    • @2020Tundra
      @2020Tundra 2 года назад

      @@MarleyJaxGarage I agree. I came to the same conclusion and that’s why I’m changing my own oil twice as often as Toyota recommends.

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  2 года назад

      The washer gives a more uniform seal to the mating surface of the fastener. I have gotten away with just cleaning and reusing them plenty of times but for how cheap they are I just change them out now. Once they are crushed you have a chance of it leaking since it has been deformed.

    The directions says 7.9 quarts and not 8.5 quarts?
    I went and dumped in 8 quarts. The oil level hit the bottom of the top dot on the dipstick.
    I didn't pay 80 dollars for the MotivX kit.
    I only bought the funnel and the wrench separately for 25 dollars.
    I made my own drain hose by using the one that came with the oil filter for 7.50 and comes with a crush washer.

    Genuine Toyota oil is actually better than Mobile 1.

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  2 года назад +4

      Where did you get that information? All the research I have done suggests Toyota oil is made by Mobil. Toyota does not make there own oil. I do use an OEM filter but that’s because I buy it in bulk. I don’t really worry about it too much with the 5k interval oil change which I think is the most important.

    • @UghDroppingLoads
      @UghDroppingLoads 2 года назад +2

      Friend of the family who is an engineer for Toyota. Yes Exxon/Mobile does make the Toyota oil. They formulate it specifically for the Toyota 5.7 so it has slight differences as far as the additives which make it more ideal
      For the tundra. I wasn’t trying to be combative, really you can’t go wrong with either one but technically the Toyota oil is “better” for the tundra.

    • @MarleyJaxGarage
      @MarleyJaxGarage  2 года назад +1

      @@UghDroppingLoads interesting, if you have any specific info on that I would love to see it. Send it to my email in the description. My buddy at Toyota told me something completely different. He said the 5.7s have been around so long that any good 0w20 oil would be good as long as it is changed every 5k. The way he explained it to me is that the toyota oil and the specific additives that they use are specifically designed for the newer engines that start and stop when at a light and idling. They are actually somewhat thinner to better protect the engine since the oil pump is frequently off. The tundras don’t have that issue so the oil really doesn’t benefit it but I would love to hear differing opinions on the matter.

    • @marksullivan3424
      @marksullivan3424 10 месяцев назад

      @@UghDroppingLoads the is not true. Both are good oils and fine to use on these trucks. More importantly, change your oil every 5K miles. People are so caught up which type of oil they use, more frequent oil change intervals is the best thing you can do to a vehicle if you plan on keeping it long term

    • @UghDroppingLoads
      @UghDroppingLoads 10 месяцев назад +2

      I literally said both oils are fine to use on the trucks and you can’t go wrong with either one. Toyota uses Toyota oil for a reason, as minute as it may be to you and I, I’m just saying they had it formulated for them for a reason so there is a difference. Again, it’s insignificant if you are changing your oil properly.

      @@MarleyJaxGarage I took both my wife's 2021 Highlander and daughter's 2020 Corolla, Toyota changed the oil, replaced fluid, and rotated tires all under Total Care. Hard to beat Toyota Care from a cost and time saving stand point. And if I have to trust them to do an engine rebuild/swap for warranty work then I think they can properly do an oil change. Just my .02

      Was that at the 5k service? They told me all the vehicles running synthetic only get them at the 10k service. Not saying I don’t trust them but the guy doing oil changes won’t be the same one doing engine work. It also all depends on which location your having it serviced at, I have had both good and bad technicians. I trust myself enough to do basic maintenance and the cost doesn’t bother me at all.

      I was leary about 0W-20 in anything but close tolerances needs thinner weight. Wife's Camry used 0W-20, my Tundra uses 0W-20. Now she has a new RAV4 and it calls for 0W-16 !!!! Never an issue in SC heat. I change at 5k intervals. Always used Mobil1. They run better and get better mileage with recommended oil.
