    Nice comparison! With a 310, looks like the 216 is the only choice. And we get to pay more FET Tax. Such a deal....

    I appreciate the video. We just bought a 19k excavator, will need to upgrade our 20k trailer at some point in the future. I know a 216 would easily handle it and it sounds like a 216 wouldn't be any heavier empty than our current trailer.

    Chain hack for your trailer . Try putting a chain in a plastic coffee can . Place the top hook in the hook holder on the trailer . You'll find you have more room and the chain is easier to pull out .

    Great Videos.. Q I have an f450 and f350...37k towing rate.... I have a case 621 loader weighs 26,711 lbs it it realistic to pull with one of these duallys on on one of these diamond trailers or will it be too much? Also have a genie 1056 telehandler weighs 31,416 as well. If this is pushing it what would the next step up be with out going to a semi?? Dump truck with a pindle? Bigger truck...whats your advice. You seem to have a lot of experience.

    • @IManOPERATOR
      @IManOPERATOR  Год назад

      Only thing I’ll say about the ford is your exhaust/compression/engine braking
      If you live in the hills, it just doesn’t retard enough on grades.
      However towing your loader doesn’t seem like an issue at all, however you’re 1056, will be pushing it.
      I can technically put 32k lbs on the deck of my dc trailer. I would go up to a tractor if you’re towing that often.
      And ya if you want to go with a dump/pintle set up they make 50k lb pintle trailers out there. 3axle beasts,

    • @IManOPERATOR
      @IManOPERATOR  Год назад

      Thank you, full tit is nice definitely for shipping containers or if you tow longer items regularly, personally I think it just adds a lot of extra weight to a trailer, but it’s definitely a nice system

    So I have a power curber 5700D. 26kish lb loaded. Machines awkward 3 track machine where it's largely weighted on one side of the trailer. Just curious if you think it's realistic with the fmax 40k

    • @IManOPERATOR
      @IManOPERATOR  2 года назад

      Well with something like that hopefully the deck of the trailer is wide enough to off set the weight a bit better however staying over the axle more will keep the load from twisting to much. But realistically I’m more than comfortable at 26k lbs. I’m at 26-27k lbs every time I tow my excavator

  • @VTOutdoorServices
    @VTOutdoorServices 2 года назад +2

    I'm kind of wanting a Diamond C after you and Sam are always bragging about them. One question for you, why did you opt for a 3500 truck for towing? I have a 21 3500 chassis in my fleet and at 9k miles the pads were already glazing. I'll tow 30k behind it, always have the exhaust brake on full and the trailer brakes aggressive. I'm thinking of going to a 4500 next time for the heavier undercarriage components.

    • @IManOPERATOR
      @IManOPERATOR  2 года назад +1

      Just more comfortable of a truck for me.
      Trucks been a trip machine as well as my work rig,
      3500 has the HO motor always nice to have some more power
      I haven’t glazed my pads some how braking has always been good even for how I use it.
      But nothing wrong with a 4500-5500 truck get them lower gears and you get some sharper turning radius

    • @BroadcastBuddy
      @BroadcastBuddy 2 года назад

      A medium duty Freightliner would be better. Everything is larger than the consumer grade 4500 trucks.

    Why is it, in your opinion, that people are staying away from the 310 or 312's? They're fairly close in price to the 216.

    • @IManOPERATOR
      @IManOPERATOR  2 года назад

      If I did more highway hauling I would love to have a 312 system. More brakes number one and more load distribution. However I’m my area what I do and where I go I would destroy the tires doing all the switch back roads and U turns I make all the time. One thing you could do to get the best of both though would be the get the front air lift axle so you can still maneuver easier but if you have a 216 with a front lift axle then it’s that much better to get out of spaces. It’s a win loose in both systems

      Extremely expensive for a 4x4 or 6x6 tractor

    • @IManOPERATOR
      @IManOPERATOR  2 года назад

      Well at that weight you’ll be doing in your truck to be honest.
      And remember machine only weighing in at 32k now you have chains and binders whatever else on the trailer you’ll be on the fine line of a comfortable tow,if you ask me I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s possible but that’s cutting it close

      @@dirtdiggler1980 god dam lol that’s nothing. It’s crazy how they’ve been able to rate these trucks lately.

      @dirtdiggler1980 2 года назад +1

      @@IManOPERATOR yes same as the chev 6500 I couldn’t even believe it when I called my salesman and inquired we didn’t buy them to tow anything but was thinking it may look better going down the road with a 15 ton excavator behind it than my f-450 lol. I think I’m gonna try pick up a dump truck lots for sale around here now pretty cheap as they’ve implemented this new axle law and it’s not worth the guys to upgrade many used trucks. You can still run them they just have limited the weight carrying capacity so for me not running gravel for a living i think it will work ok.
