*pregnant *prince Also, the original fairytale is even weirder. She's raped by the king while out cold and gives birth to twins, only waking up when her son sucks some flax that had been stuck in her finger because he was looking for her nipple to nurse.
Eugene is 23 in the film, NOT 26. Although he thinks he's 22. He turns 26 halfway through the third season of the sequel series, when Rapunzel is 20 1/2 (each season of TTS ends on or very near Raps' birthday). So there's a 5 1/2 year age gap between them, not an 8 year gap.
@@GworlyPop11 you also have to consider this was ancient Greece, quite a lot of years ago. Love was just love then, age wasn't a big part of it. In fact, ten years is a rather small age gap for that time
Yeah you are right and actually the father of eugene reveals his birth name horse and he is one year older in the series rapunzel go for 19 to 20 and eugene is 27 at the end of the series his real age
And now I can see why the evil Queen wanted to keep Snow White's beauty hidden, not only becuz she feared she'd surpass her in beauty but also to keep her away from creeps twice her age
Actually Snow White and the prince were only 18/19 . The rumor of the prince being 31 started as a joke. But even in the old fairy tale the ages of the two are with in 6 months of each other’s age.
That’s not true in the actual tale of Snow White was 7 and in the Disney movie she was 14 if she was 18 she would be able to rule the kingdom and their was no way the queen was gonna let that happen
These age gaps might seem creepy due to the difference of the times. My grandmother at 17 married my grandfather 34, and no one had a problem with it. This is because women's youth and ability to have many children were prioritized by men, while a mature and well off man who could raise a family was prioritized by women. They truly were different times.
it's only creepy because current society (especially Americans it seems who have the tendency to call everyone who find someone under 21 attractive pedophile which is lol) finds it creepy. my grandmother was 20 years younger than my grandfather and it was natural then, even endorsed
Naveen was just 20, funny how reactors always bash him by making it seem like he had nothing to offer just because he's privileged. In case people conveniently forgot, when we first see Naveen, he's very spontaneous and charismatic. He doesn't take life for granted. I adore Tiana, but people like forget SHE HAS FLAWS TOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Her flaw was being boring, actually Naveen said it perfectly,"Stick in the mud". And he's right, then they BOTH learn something from each other. Tiana taught him how to be responsible, Naveen taught her to let loose. But no reactor I've seen likes to say that they just think Tiana is perfect with zero flaws and have no problem bashing Naveen just because of his gender. The entire point of creating a character is making them flawed so they feel like humans. Tiana is human while she has good qualities, however she DOES have flaws. Flaws are great they humanize the character. I would have been pissed if the writers tried to write the ship by trying to making Tiana flawless and make her an accidentally flawed character with no awareness of her faults. If they had done that, Tiana would not be likable she'd be the arrogant one. I could write a list of my favorite characters and how their flaws make them great and layered people. It's called good writing to give characters flaws because character development is key in fictional writing.
The only black princess was a frog the whole movie. Disrespectful. And she had to be a hardworking, lower class girl in a time where she's looked down upon. Why couldn't it be about any of the empresses of Africa? There were a myriad of abundant kingdoms that they don't even talk about
@Earth Angel why does it have to be an empress of Africa to showcase strong black woman? Her background makes the whole movie and the dynamic of their relationships, because she is hardworking, strong, and responsible working lady. An empress would not have those qualities or showcase them as Tiana does because they lead very different lives. Her dreams, goals, and personality are what changes Naveem to be someone better than some playing rich guy.
It's also important to remember that historically, 16 has been the most common age of majority, and sometimes that age was younger, especially for girls. Aurora is an adult. Jasmine ends her movie as a legal adult, as she was only three days shy of 16 at the start of the movie. The film's climax actually happens ON her birthday. And Florian was clearly aged down. He doesn't look older than 16.
Also an important thing to remember is that some of these movies take place in times long ago, when, historically, these ideas would have been accepted! In ancient kingdoms, it’s believed that marriages in the idea of establishing, or strengthening an alliance were also common…
For some reason, I always had the impression that Meg was decades, if not hundreds or thousands of years old. Something about the "selling her soul to Hades" made it sound like she was trapped in a sort of ageless slavery to him, and the way she talked about making the deal, and her lover betraying her, sounded so distant, like it was another life. It feels weird to think of it only being a handful of years, or to imagine that he could even still be alive during the events of the movie.
To me all age gaps seemed normal considering the era they were set in. The age gaps were fine but their ages were a little too young (some of them) and very much unsettling if we were to compare them to our modern times. But snow white is actually very unsettling including the fact that she was 14.
Considering the time period her movie takes place ( 1400’s ), girls became “adults” when they got their period. On top of that, back then the age gap was pretty normal.
@@Ronin.Samurai well yeah your thats what I meant they were fine in their era absolutely right yes, but I just said that they are unsettling especially compared to our period, in my opinion the age gap even if its 30 doesn't matter as long as both are adults. That was what I was trying to get my point to come across as . But thanks ciao
@@opheliebell22 in our modern times yes it is however, this movies are based on the older times where girls as young as 13 were married off very often with older men and by the age of 16 they were considered too old to be unmarried and have no kids.
@@tiffanyelliott447814 but yeah I see your point. But I also see this persons side because a lot of people still marry people that are 4 years younger or older than them. I’m not saying that makes it completely alright because she’s a minor and Florian was not. But what I find most disgusting is when they’re 6+ years apart. Because if someone is 18 and they like someone 6 years younger of them, that person wouldn’t even be a teenager 🤮
The biggest age gap in all of Disney belongs to Milo and Kida from 'Atlantis The Lost Empire'. Milo is 30 and Kida is like 8000 or so (she was a kid when Atlantis sank).
Okay but let’s remember Ariel didn’t leave her family for a man, he was just the cherry on top, she already wanted to go to the human world and it’s only after her father destroyed her special collection of artefacts that she finally decided to leave because let’s be honest, if my dad came in and destroyed my room I would also run away and try and get some hot guy to kiss me so I could stay forever
That's not a good way. You can stay in your friend's house and try to find a solution to your dad. Not kissing a stranger like ariel, that girl was gonna kiss that guy she just met 1-2 days
Ugh finally people who understands that. Everyone is hating on Ariel be like: "Oh she dumbed her family for a man what a bitch" but dude a movie literally shows that she dreamed about human world waay before she even met Eric the movie literally starts from Ariel looking for human things on a sinked ship
Well remember at the end of Tangled Flynn said “After years of asking and asking…” he asked Rapunzel for years and finally she said yes to marry Flynn. So she might’ve been about 25 maybe when they got married
What’s kinda funny is the fact that we all believed Eric was older than 18, but Eric’s voice actor was actually 16 when recording making him about a decade younger than Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel who was 28.
You should know damn well it was a Easter egg of his Ariel voice Actor was actually 16 and now they get married with teenager what a goddamn pedophilia movie you are
To be fair, in the times these movies take place the age gaps seem quite normal (mainly referring to how young the girls are). As for Beauty and the Beast, I see how people like the movie, but I've always found it to be creepy.
I know a lot of fashion history. Marie Antoinette was only 14 when she got engaged. It was also common in the 15 hundreds for girls to be married off at 12. So it’s not surprising to me. I didn’t even bat an eye!
And contrary to what many people believe, it cut both ways. Henry VII was married at 14 to a 27 year old bride. Generally age of consent was 12 - 14 "back in the day."
Actually Eugene is actually 23 in the movie tangled. By the end of “rapunzels tangled adventure” which took a spand of 3 years, rapunzel is 21 years old and Eugene is 26 years old, his last birthday seen on screen in season 3. Eugene is “24 years old” because in “Rapunzel’s tangled adventure” on his birthday he points his age is wrong. The candles counting 26 instead of 25. But after learning his official birthday he was a year older than what everyone thought. So rapunzel and Eugene have a 5 Year difference.
4 years is a stretch when one 17 18 or 19 like 17/21 18/22 and 19/23 is weird if they just met but little ok if they know long time but 25/29 26/30 and 27/31 isn't bad at all
@@P3rrineLover totally fine I say 17/20 18/21 and 19/22 is totally fine but 17/21 18/22 and 19/23 is stretching it but if it doesn't exceed past 4 years age gap at that age I don't have issue with it if there 19 and other 23 and 19 turn 20 before 23 turn 24 is fine but if 23 turn 24 and other still 19 is little weird
Philip always gets such a bad rap in these. If you were told "this girl is never going to wake up and the kingdom is going to stay under a horrible curse unless you kiss her" (because Flora does tell him that *directly*) even the most respectful-of-boundaries person would do it - likely as cursorily as possible - and then proceed with the relationship like they weren't yet at the kissing phase. We don't get mad at people who give rescue breaths to a drowning person because it's medically necessary stuff; that's the category I put the Sleeping Beauty kiss in.
We do these days. There was that one woman who was all pissy that someone gave her CPR without her consent. Despite the fact that she was unconscious and drowning.
Yeah that's the difference between the sleeping beauty of Disney and other versions, it's that the prince actually knows that sleeping beauty it's cursed and not some random sleeping lady
Not to mention it was literally true loves kiss… meaning they were true loves, and Aurora wouldn’t have given two shits if he kissed her. Whiner babies just don’t actually know the movie and cry that it’s ‘assault’.
Actually Prince Florian is actually 18, his age is listed in The Art of Walt Disney by Christopher Finch that contains an old outline for the film and it states the prince is 18, so he is not 31 as many places online state.
My father was one week shy of being exactly 8 years older than my mom. They were 24 and 16 when they met, 25 and 17 when they got married. And where married for just shy of 50 years when my dad passed away.
@@suoraindemoniata2366 stop it with the old excuse of "those were older times" If 2 people are in love and decide to live their lives together and make it work, then it is. Today's life is full of prejudices
@djkleb7645 sorry if most SANE 26 year old men don't want to commit with a 16 year old girl because she's way too young and if 16 year old girls want to be with boys around her age, it's not my fault
Back when the stories were originally written, noble women were married as young as 12 ( although not encouraged to consummate the relationship until 14/15). We can’t add our modern sensibilities to them. It was a total different world. Life expectancy was significantly shorter and people lived faster lives. At one point it was like 25.
You are incorrect. A female could NOT marry until she had her first period. What you mean is that BETROTHALS were made. That is correct. But a marriage isnt binding until its consumated, and that can only happen when she has flowered. There are very few cultures which made exception to this - including Prophet muhammed of Islam, who fucked a 9 year old girl.
Most of the gaps aren’t too bad, but also looking at the historical times these stories are based on, it was common and not creepy. People were very different at different times and in different cultures.
And a lot of these age gaps are actually not bad nowadays, either, but since the people are so young getting married and stuff. Getting married young wasn't as weird back in the day. You can really give it up to Disney for historical accuracy in that case...
I'd say the only difference between us and the people of the past is knowledge and convenience. But my jaw dropped on several occasions hearing this and seeing this.
You also have to think of the historical age that you were allowed to marry back then. It was very common that there were big age gaps in the Renaissance through the 19th century. Even today, some countries allow it. Also, in today's world, we are able to get married at 15 years old.
what a lot of folks forget is that at the time periods that most of these stories take place , it was common practice for familys to marrie off thire daughters as young as age 12, and were offten married off to men in thire 30s or older
& that common so call practice is a form of programing /indoctrination wake up it's not normal ,at that age young children should not even be involved with that shit its nasty down right WRONG, 😳 the child is still in their developing stages therfore no interference,
In the time period when snow white was set bith the age and age gap would have been normal. In fact, she would have been a bit old to get married as they would normally marry girls off at 12. It was usually to increase their social standing too, so the girls didn't actually have any choice in the matter. They were simply told, married off with a dowry and that was it. They apparently aged up cinderella from the original story. She was supposedly 12 in the fairy tale. Not to mention she wasn't woken by the Prince. The then Prince had his way with her. She gave birth to twins and it was one of the babies sucking on her finger that triggered the end of the curse. So the true love was the unconditional love of one's child. Not the love as first sight of a man and a woman.
6:04 Aurora is the name of my stuffed anima Mee-meow, that my enemy threw in the dumpster, and she's (Aurora) IN. PIECES. And yeah you bet I gave my enemy a scar!!!
Now on the Mulan thing they were trying to plan out who she was going to marry at the beginning of the film which kind of makes it so that you know that it is the average age for women of their version of China during that time period to get married Love how we’re ignoring the time period of these places.. Now the last one has a big hell no from me on every facet of its existence
He also got something else wrong. Since Mulan was in the army for 10 years, she would be 26 at the end of the movie, not 16. That means Shang was 29, not 19.
Always ignore the historical context of movies when discussing ages. What seems odd to us now (which getting married at 16 is actually legal in some US states without parental consent) was not so odd in the time period in which those movies were set. Just like Aurora and Phillip being betrothed before Aurora was even walking was extremely commonplace during that time period when it came to royals and nobles. It was one of the fastest ways to maintain treaties between kingdoms. If we want disturbing information, let's talk about the actual tales that Disney loosely based theirs on... Brothers Grimm weren't known for their happy, warm and fuzzy fairy tales... Also, I'm not even going to talk about the whole thing with Pocahontas and John Smith... I love the movie, but just ugh...
I'm surpised that Disney still creates movies that feature age gaps. On the bright side, I kind of like the fact that they are featuring some minors being paired to some a lot older individuals because that's what happened in history back then. I also liked that he said, "More like Sleeping High Schooler".
The fact that most of the “bad” age gaps are really tame compared to the original stories shows a lot about the time period they are from. Most of these “sweet romantic fairytales” are pretty dark.
I... think I have a different definition of "age gap"... because most of these are less than 4 years apart and that's a pretty healthy/normal age difference.
@@maddoxledgerwood8955 it's very concerning, but in the time period it's set in that was common practice, kings and queens in particular would marry off their daughters as young as 12 or 13 to men in their 30 or 40s
None of them were as bizarre as Snow White (and Hercules). It doesn't bother me much since my grandparents are 12 years apart, when I get married or date someone, they will be around my age. Two to three years at the most.
Jasmine was only 15 and Jaffar (who was at least 40) asked the genie to make her fall in love with him, and when she pretended to fall in love with him they started making out (if I remember correctly, lol)
A 20-year-old dating a 16-year-old isn't really an issue, as long as the parents are cool with it, right? I mean, that's like a 21-year-old dating a 25-year-old, it doesn't seem all that uncommon as far as I can tell, wouldn't you agree? As long as the legal age of consent is 16 where you live, then if you're 20, then it's not bad, is it?
Rapunzel and flynn doesn't matter as long as she's 18 before they got together its fine. And the Hercules one isn't crazy either, clearly people forget our grandparents who were often several years apart. My grandparents were 9 years apart
A fact you missed here. In the original Snow White fable it starts her at 14. However, she was much older by the end of it, because she has spent much time in the forest. How long, we cant be certain, but likely it was a few years making her at least 16 by the end of the fable, it would be assumed to also be true in the Disney Movie. 16 is the legal age for consent in most countries, so while she was young she was legal. Also, she was asleep for a long time, the movie overlooks this. The prince just didnt suddenly show up (Not the fable anyways). The Little Mermaid was a child in the fable. Her age was believed to be 14 although he never states it, he does describe she is a child, as the legal age then was 15 (Although at the time he wrote the fable there was no legal age, but this was the accept society norm) this makes her much younger.
Remember, outside of tiana, all these couples are from bc era (herc/meg, mulan/shang) to middle ages where marriage where age gaps were not thought about. The life span of people during those times werent long. So the ages where people became adults were younger than now a days. Dont overthink these gaps, true some wont fly today (snow white), but at the time period it took placewas fine.
In Hans Christian Anderson's short story "The little sea maid" She was fifteen. No mention how old the prince is, but probably over 21. Enable to get his title and inheritance.
In "Sleeping Beauty", you clearly learn at the beginning of the movie that Prince Phillip & Aurora are betrothed. Phillip was 5, so when she turns 16, he's 21. Yes, that still seems a little odd and that he's too old for her, but it was the 14th century, as Phillip points out, so it probably wasn't that uncommon for 16 year olds to marry. I'll defend this movie until the day I die, so come at me! 😂
Honestly, the fact that she's as old as she is without being married off yet would have been the weird part for a princess at the time. A lot of the time, as soon as girls hit puberty, they started marrying them off because the child mortality rate was so high. They needed girls and women to start having children as fast as possible, especially noble and royal women, to try to make sure one of the kids survived to adulthood.
We accept that she gets betrothed as an infant because that was commonplace for the time period, but the age gap between Aurora and Phillip is what gets everyone in a twist even though that was just as commonplace for that time period. These "real age" videos are just utter nonsense when it comes to fictional characters, however, let's dive into the original stories that Disney based their fairy tales on and then we can discuss disturbing facts, lol.
it was a different time period and the only gap im concerned about is snow white and florian but other then that, seeing when these take place it's completely reasonable
As a History student, i just want everyone thinking that big age gaps were a thing in medieval/modern history (~476 - ~1793) and even ancient history to know that : no, it wasn't the norm at all. In most European countries the majority was at 18, even 21 sometimes. Except some rare big families married their young heirs together (but they would just be engaged most of the time, a marriage couldn't happen if one of the two was a minor), other than that, the usual age people got married at varied from 22 to 30 years old over the centuries both for the men and women. (Some kings did marry young girls, but again, they usually actually had to wait for her majority before really marrying) So, no, it wasn't the norm at all. (and outside marriage relationship weren't really popular at the time, at least for everyone except the lovers) As for ancient (latin/greek) history i didn't have that much classes yet, but i can tell you that there were very strict age rules too, and that they might indeed have married quite young, but most of the time the two had similar ages too. Thank you for your time :) (i'm just really tired to see clichés justifying quite terrible acts such as child marriage, who actually wasn't that popular since people didn't really have the time to care, and they married late to not have too many children to feed because it was difficult.)
0:53 No. Tangled the series takes place 3 years after the movie. He was revealed to be 26 in the show. Edit: Nvm- S1 takes place six months and ends on her 19th bday. In S3 she is 21. So Eugene is 26 in S3.
If they’re over 18 it doesn’t really matter. Under is different. Plus a lot of these age gaps are normal when you go into your 40s, if the wife is 42 and the husband is 50 no one bets an eye
@@Idkksus Oh yeah I’ll agree there. No one should do “cosmetic” surgery of any kind until the brain fully develops the control center, the prefrontal cortex, at 25. But at least 18 they’re technically not minors and aren’t having a parent push them through it
When my brother was in the room and it said Snow White and the Prince, he yelled “CHILD PREDATOR” knowing that I would laugh because of it. I love my brother he’s a goofball
I knew a few of the ages. The Beast from Beauty and the Beast is named Prince Adam. I’m a huge Beauty and the Beast fan. Specifically Belle’s fan. So I searched up the Beast’s name and it was Adam. Or I heard it somewhere. I can’t remember. But all I know is that the Beast’s name is Adam.
If you think about the time period of each movie, it makes a bit of sense societal norms were not always how they are now from what I know in the medieval times kings would marry off their daughters at a fairly young age as soon as they were teenagers, mainly plus an older man marrying a younger woman wasn’t that uncommon during the medieval times it’s creepy to think about nowadays back then it was fairly normal.
Well Meg might actually be quite a bit older giving the enteral servitude to Hades thing. Usually that comes with an eternal youth so they can work forever. And so after a point it becomes impossible to date any mortals without it being weird.
Actually the age gap in Tangled is kinda normal in my country (although many people may not prefer it but it's still normal) the age gap up to 10 yrs is normal here, but not more than that
On a scale of 1-10 creepiness, here's how I would rate the age gaps with reasons. Flynn and Rapunzel - 26-18: 3, Both are still young, 8 years may seem like a lot, but I've seen a lot worse. But the ability to buy alcohol for someone not legal to drink is risky, it's avoidable, but still potential. This will be a running factor, so expect it in most pairings. The fact that she's sheltered and might act younger doesn't really factor here, there are plenty of people in their 20s and 30s who still act like immature children, so Rapunzel being only slightly naive about the outer world isn't as bad as it could be. Cristof and Anna - 21-18: 2, There's nothing wrong with this except the alcohol thing, but again, that's avoidable. Both of them are acting their ages, albeit a romanticized Disney version, but still. Hans and Anna - 23-18: 3, The problem here was his motives, but then again those motives stemmed from wanting to prove something to his older brothers. Also it's not unheard of considering both are royalty and he was trying to form an alliance between the kingdoms, one that would give him control over at least one of them. Not saying he did it the right way, just that I understand the reason behind the actions. Eric and Ariel - 18-16: 2, In terms of age gap, there's nothing really wrong here. Ariel's motives were definitely misguided, but she was a rebellious teenager, much like a lot of teenagers are. Getting married, again, it's a royalty thing. Considering that back in medieval times the offspring of royal families would be betrothed by the parents at birth in order to form alliances, so getting married at this age is actually pretty on point for royalty. Naveen and Tiana - 21-19: 1, Nothing wrong here, not even the alcohol thing, considering the time period this takes place in (1920s), and the legal drinking age in Louisiana at the time was 18, there's nothing wrong here. Charming and Cinderella - 21-19: 1, There is literally nothing wrong with this one. Much like a lot of Disney stories it's a riches and rags pairing, which Cinderella was only a peasant girl because of her step-mother taking everything when Cindy's father died. Otherwise Cindy would have at least had nobility standing. Florian and Snow - 31-14: 10, This would have been less if it was a royal betrothal thing, but considering everything, that in reality, after eating the apple, Snow was dead and only was saved after the bouncing on the horse caused her to cough up the apple. For Florian, not only was he a pedo, but he had no idea that Snow would revive, even in the romanticized Disney version. He is a necro as well. Disney version, he kissed a dead girl, which I understand some people give their loved ones final kisses and whatnot, but this wasn't a goodbye kiss, this was a "I want to get in her pants" kind. In the original novel version, he didn't kiss her, he fondled and groped what was essentially a corpse and was intending on bringing her home to copulate with. Very sick and creepy when you think about it. Thankfully 'Once Upon A Time' fixed this problem. Hercules and Meg - 18-28: 3, I've still seen worse age gaps and to be fair a lot of women who are close to 30 do tend to look at younger guys. Plus, this is ancient Greece and Herc is a demi-god, if you know the history of the Greek pantheon, you'd understand that this pairing is rather tame comparatively to what the Gods themselves did. Linguini and Collette - 19-26: 1, Nothing wrong with the woman being older, even at a 7 year gap, and considering this takes place in France, even the legal drinking age thing isn't a problem since it's 18 there. Li Shang and Mulan - 19-16: 1, This is quite tame for this era of China, considering in Feudal Era China there were plenty of instances of girls younger than Mulan being taken as wives by men much older than Shang. It was probably not the best way to start their relationship, but this is about the age gaps, not the how they started. Tarzan and Jane - 18-20: 1, Nothing wrong with the age gap or the woman being older, I had a 20 year old girlfriend when I was 18, so this isn't a bad one. In fact, this one I even give props to because this was probably the biggest SOCIAL gap that had to be overcome in Disney couples. Phillip and Aurora - 20-16: 2, Remember that royal betrothal at birth to form kingdom alliances I mentioned? Here it is. Also, this kiss to wake her up is considerably different than the one with Florian and Snow. This one was in order to break a spell. If you remember, Maleficent's curse was supposed to kill Aurora, but Merriwhether's counter to it was simply to put her to sleep until True Love's Kiss woke her. Considering Maleficent was the Fairy Queen, Merriwhether even being able to alter the curse was quite a feat. But I digress, so back to Phillip and Aurora, while the age gap might seem weird, it's medieval times and a royal betrothal, so it's really not as bad as you might think. Adam and Belle - 21-17: 3, The age isn't as bad as some others on this list and considering this was France during the 1700s, this is not unheard of. Also, to be fair, Adam was cursed to take on an appearance matching his personality at the time. Aladdin and Jasmine - 18-15 (technically 16): 1, While at the start of the movie Jasmine was 15, it was even stated that her birthday was in 3 days time, so by the end of the movie she was indeed 16. So a 2 year gap is nothing creepy, this is like a high school senior dating a sophomore, not anything bad really. Also, consider this is in Saudi Arabia and think of their customs of marrying off their daughters. Achmed was a lot creepier of a suiter and the real problem in this one was Jafar. While Achmed was around 40, he was simply adhering to the customs of the country. Jafar on the other hand was at least in his 50s and hard creeping on Jasmine. John and Pocahontas - 20-18: 1, This is not a creepy age gap at all. Only bridge this relationship had to cross was the social one, which like Tarzan and Jane, included a language barrier, but this one came with the added issue of the Natives versus the Colonizers in terms of civilization barriers as well.
Actually, the story of Aurora is she'll be into a long sleep when she turn 16. In the story, she had been sleep for 100 years so that mean she's over 100 yrs old while prince Phillip was just 20.
All of them are really OK to me because I grew up with a dad that had a huge age gap, and the bond that had a big age gap. They had a pretty age pretty big age gap against each other so I wouldn’t really say that that was surprising to me.
Snow White is a bit extreme 😂 Anyone want to guess at the gap between Jasmine and Jafar? I bet that is even worse. Also it's not so much the age difference but the characters and the actions, and emotions (also the time period they are in) I'm 12 years older than my partner (ain't nothing wrong with it - but it can create cultural differences 😂) plus I liked the comical way you approached the video. Entertaining. Still love all the films mentioned.

I think we should be concerned that out of 17 couples in only one the girl's older than the boy (dont talk about the times Meg literally lived in ancient greece)
Those age gaps aren't that bad when you realize that depending on when the movie is based like snow white it was normal for a 14 -16 year old girl to get married to a 30 year old man and have a child
The prince isnt even actually 31. Disney has confirmed he's 18 but channels like this keep pulling out this misinformation because it's good shock value
18 and 21 are both young adult ages, plus only a 3 year age gap. Think about it this way, Anna as 20 and Kristoff as 23, that would only be in two years time.
Honestly, the only age gap I don't believe is the prince from Snow White. It can't be true that he's 31 with a face like that. I thought he was 16-18. And it's funny, because Prince Philip is younger than I thought he was. I thought he had to be at least 6-8 years older than Aurora. Edit: After looking at the comments, apparently some ages were wrong, so... My intuition about Prince Florian was right.
I’m not really surprise with Aladdin and jasmine age gap due to how female girls in those countries live when it comes to marriage. Some girls get married a lot younger 😓 so their not wrong
hey so my mom is 38 and my dad is 50. anything below 12 years is not a big gap at all. my mom and dad look around the same age and in the movie they also do.
Well, Prince Phillip has to be older, because in the beginning of the film, when Aurora was still a baby, he was shown as maybe 9 year old child. He was told that this baby was his future bride (he was like ewww of course, I mean was maybe 9 or something)
2:06 WAIT A MINUTE IN ONE OF THE MOVIES SHE HAS A KID, ERMMMMM 👄 3:37 MOMMYYYY, IM SCAREDDDDDD 4:04 DISNEY WHY YOU DOING THIS TO MEEEEEEE 4:27 bruuuu I swear….
Just so everyone knows, Prince Florian was just 18 years old. The rumor that the prince was 31 came from a tweet that claimed that Snow White was 14 and the prince was 31, which the became viral and therefore made a lot of people atributing this to fact since of how viral it became (I'm assuming this because it's the earliest mention of it I've found so this may be wrong). The evidnce that this isn't true comes from "The Art Of Walt Disney" in which it states, on October 22nd 1934, Snow White is described as a "Janet Gaynor type - 𝟭𝟰 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱", so yes, Snow White is 14 canonically. However it also describes the prince as a "Doug Fairbanks type - 𝟭𝟴 𝘆𝗲𝗮𝗿𝘀 𝗼𝗹𝗱". It's still not great - a 14 year old getting together with an 18 year old - but a 4 year age gap A LOT better that a 17 year age gap. This is explained better in a video I found about this: ruclips.net/video/GY17j9zbV-c/видео.html
All i have to say, is that age is just a number unless they are dangerous, you met them online and they ask you personal information, or they are suspicious or something like that.

These age gaps might seem creepy due to the difference of the times. My grandmother at 17 married my grandfather 34, and no one had a problem with it. This is because women's youth and ability to have many children were prioritized by men, while a mature and well off man who could raise a family was prioritized by women. They truly were different times.
I still find it pretty creepy but yeah times were different
it's only creepy because current society (especially Americans it seems who have the tendency to call everyone who find someone under 21 attractive pedophile which is lol) finds it creepy. my grandmother was 20 years younger than my grandfather and it was natural then, even endorsed
My Great grandmother was married at the same Age as your grandmother! She was born in 1933 and still Alive today, and she married at 17 in 1950
I still don't think its "ok"
It makes sense in the nature of reproduction. Women can pump many out when starting early.
The fact that tiana was that hardworking and awesome at 19 makes me love her even more
Naveen was just 20, funny how reactors always bash him by making it seem like he had nothing to offer just because he's privileged.

Back when the stories were originally written, noble women were married as young as 12 ( although not encouraged to consummate the relationship until 14/15). We can’t add our modern sensibilities to them. It was a total different world. Life expectancy was significantly shorter and people lived faster lives. At one point it was like 25.
That's not because 25 was old. It was because there was a huge chance of dying in your toddler years.
Careful, this almost seems like common sense. You know the very thing, most of the critics are really lacking these days🤣

Unfortunately, you are right.
It was actually not that common at all, in the medieval times it was only the nobles that often got married before their 20's
18 and 26 isnt a bad age gap at all, the really bad age gap was snowhite and prince charming
but Eugene is actually 23/24 when he and Rapunzel meet!

Bruh... They could marry at 14 in the 14th century and even have kids at that age. They were mature enough at that time
We accept that she gets betrothed as an infant because that was commonplace for the time period, but the age gap between Aurora and Phillip is what gets everyone in a twist even though that was just as commonplace for that time period. These "real age" videos are just utter nonsense when it comes to fictional characters, however, let's dive into the original stories that Disney based their fairy tales on and then we can discuss disturbing facts, lol.
oh my grandmas mom got married at age 16 to a 22 year old it was sometime in the early 1900s
It's not an over to 10 age gap
i prefer the once upon a time snow and Charming both seem to be grown ups and she already knew him when he woke her up
thanks
more palatable than in 8 year old Snow white From the stories, 14 year old from the movie.
Facts
5:44 Tarzan and Jane, anyone else notice MRS Potts and Chip from Beauty and the Beast???
it was a different time period and the only gap im concerned about is snow white and florian but other then that, seeing when these take place it's completely reasonable
I think in the Disney version snow white was 14 I think in their original tale like 8 to 12.
@@wimsylogic65 yeah true

I really love Tiana and Naveen, Ariel and Eric, Rapunzel and Eugene, Aurora and Philip are my fav because they are most romantic couples in disney
(Some kings did marry young girls, but again, they usually actually had to wait for her majority before really marrying)
So, no, it wasn't the norm at all. (and outside marriage relationship weren't really popular at the time, at least for everyone except the lovers)
As for ancient (latin/greek) history i didn't have that much classes yet, but i can tell you that there were very strict age rules too, and that they might indeed have married quite young, but most of the time the two had similar ages too.
Thank you for your time :)
(i'm just really tired to see clichés justifying quite terrible acts such as child marriage, who actually wasn't that popular since people didn't really have the time to care, and they married late to not have too many children to feed because it was difficult.)
18 is a kid though
@@Idkksus Oh yeah I’ll agree there. No one should do “cosmetic” surgery of any kind until the brain fully develops the control center, the prefrontal cortex, at 25. But at least 18 they’re technically not minors and aren’t having a parent push them through it
Under 21 it does over 21 it doesn't
The legal age for sex is 15/16, depending the country, not 18+. Therefore, being legally minor, ain't always a problem.

3:30 How did they get away with that?
When my brother was in the room and it said Snow White and the Prince, he yelled “CHILD PREDATOR” knowing that I would laugh because of it. I love my brother he’s a goofball
I knew a few of the ages. The Beast from Beauty and the Beast is named Prince Adam. I’m a huge Beauty and the Beast fan. Specifically Belle’s fan. So I searched up the Beast’s name and it was Adam. Or I heard it somewhere. I can’t remember. But all I know is that the Beast’s name is Adam.
The gaps don't bother me. Meg looks don't match her age, makes me wonder how old Queen Hilde is.
im suprised by all these age gaps [i need to stop having crushes]
If you think about the time period of each movie, it makes a bit of sense societal norms were not always how they are now from what I know in the medieval times kings would marry off their daughters at a fairly young age as soon as they were teenagers, mainly plus an older man marrying a younger woman wasn’t that uncommon during the medieval times it’s creepy to think about nowadays back then it was fairly normal.
Well, different times, different rules.
Well Meg might actually be quite a bit older giving the enteral servitude to Hades thing.
Usually that comes with an eternal youth so they can work forever. And so after a point it becomes impossible to date any mortals without it being weird.
Actually the age gap in Tangled is kinda normal in my country (although many people may not prefer it but it's still normal)
the age gap up to 10 yrs is normal here, but not more than that
The age gap in Tangled is only 5 years, not 8. I’m not sure where this channel is getting their information but it’s wrong.
I feel like the only crazy age gap is Snow White
When the original stories were written, this was common.
All of them are really OK to me because I grew up with a dad that had a huge age gap, and the bond that had a big age gap. They had a pretty age pretty big age gap against each other so I wouldn’t really say that that was surprising to me.
I think Disney is obsessed of princesses being younger than her loves xD
Snow White is a bit extreme 😂 Anyone want to guess at the gap between Jasmine and Jafar? I bet that is even worse. Also it's not so much the age difference but the characters and the actions, and emotions (also the time period they are in) I'm 12 years older than my partner (ain't nothing wrong with it - but it can create cultural differences 😂) plus I liked the comical way you approached the video. Entertaining. Still love all the films mentioned.

Ariel did not give up her life only for Eric, she did it because she always wanted to be human. And their wedding could have happened later.
There's nothing weird about those age gaps, except maybe for Snowhite, and even there that was pretty normal not that long ago.
For Anna and Kristoff, their age gap is only 3 years. That’s not even a bit weird
yeah i agree. most of these didn't even seem that bad to me

Well, I think the whole couple to marriage thing went a whole lot differently back then.😅
I’m not really surprise with Aladdin and jasmine age gap due to how female girls in those countries live when it comes to marriage. Some girls get married a lot younger 😓 so their not wrong

Well, Prince Phillip has to be older, because in the beginning of the film, when Aurora was still a baby, he was shown as maybe 9 year old child. He was told that this baby was his future bride (he was like ewww of course, I mean was maybe 9 or something)
eugene was actually 23/24 in the movie. he turns 26 in s3 of the tv show which takes place around 3 years after the movie.

All i have to say, is that age is just a number unless they are dangerous, you met them online and they ask you personal information, or they are suspicious or something like that.
I find it funny how often people forget that romance has nothing to do with Age gaps but cares much more about maturity gaps and emotional fulfillment.
Nothing is bad with these age gaps. It’s all about context.
