In Orgins manga they expand a bit on the Zock, Char end up piloting one against the White Base in Belfast and they explain the Zocks were made to be used as blockade against the Federation sea routes, literally sea turrets that could fight a naval group alone. Of course Zeon underestimated the size of Earth oceans and they ended up only making 3 units in the end.
The Zock reminds me of the Awesome from battletech. Both are slow and awkward to position, but once they are in position the level of fire support they can provide is, well, awesome. Sadly the Awesome doesn't have all the cool bells and whistles as the Zock, but that's alright. Also, while I watched this with little to no Gundam knowledge, I guessed that the Thunderbolt Zock was going to be a Mobile Suit Carrier.
i dont really talk to zock much but from what I've seen he's a good person (im the acguy person from before but i've been locked out of my main account)
Okay, i never saw the Thunderbolt version of the zock before, and it looks rather impressive, to say the least. Im half suprised they didn't put some version of the hygogg's shoulders and arms on it to mount several of those rockets from it all around its body. This would be to allow it to carpet bomb its targets to provide a beachhead for its troops. Then again, if it had several of those on it and they all went off, that thing would go so fast that im pretty sure something would break, so maybe lets not do that. Kinda sad there isn't a launching mechanism for the carriers, to be honest. Imagine it just popping up, spinning around to just distract everyone as it sends its troops across defense lines. Then, it starts providing 360 degrees of covering fire.
I really enjoyed this amphibious analysis. I'm not a gundam fan but I love amphibious and weird looking mobie suit. Good work, keep going I'll support you!
the TB design looks similar just MUCH bigger and can carry MS, its so odd how they made this design than never reused it again. In some cases I like it more than the OG zock
For me, this Mobile Suit feels like it would fight better in space than the others, even the Gundam. Like, I can see this model the best one if say the Expanse had its own Mobile Suits.
i think the zock reversable design was made cause its so big. doing a 180 would be too slow so just flip the arms and the eye and you are facing that sneaky enemy
Just wanted to point out that perhaps the 2 mysterious guns on top of the Gogg's head are also phonon masers. From my understanding, although mega particle guns can work underwater, they re less effective, which still makes a phonon maser an attractive weapon (perhaps range underwater is the key factor here?), even if an amphibious MS will only/mainly use it while cruising underwater. Also wanted throw in a curious detail: in Federation Vs Zeon, when deploying at Jaburo with a Zeon MS, a cutscene showing the MS you chose dropping from the front section of a Gaw, however, if you chose to deploy with a Zock, this cutscene is replaced by a unique one showing the Zock swimming. The game, made by Capcom by the way, was actually quite accurate in many aspects, and I believe this was meant to indicate that a Zock couldn't fit through a Gaw's front hangar door, though apparently it do can fit in a Fat Uncle as shown in the original TV series. And before I forget, you can actually briefly see a Gogg in 08th MS team, during Zeon's retreat from Odessa, in episode 7 if I'm not mistaken. You can also catch a glimpse of a Jukon and Mad Angler, and it also proves that a Gaw's rear hang is also usable to store MS, as we see the crippled Acguy boarding it that way.
ive read that MSM like the gogg have smaller weapons ether be vulcans or weak beam weapons that are used to take out smaller things like mines, torpedos sorta like the freezy yard and am pretty sure thats whats ontop of the goggs head. I still find it out that the zock was the only things to have a photon maser idk if they just forgot or other MS have it but they just call it beam weapons its a odd case. also i need to focus on the background for some uc because they but the most random of shit. i remember someone said that in 08th there is a random GM holding a gundam hammer for no reason
I think the reason why they bothered with naming the Seed weapons as Photon masers is just because that show feels the need to give every single weapon a super long and fake technical sounding name. Like you can't just have vulcan guns in Seed, they need to be something like "Igelstellung 75mm Automatic Multi-barrel CIWS".
id say so. those 4 appeared in the og anime and most recognizable. Acguy and Zgok much more making more appearances in other things than any other marine ms
I could not find the number but it can fit TB acguys in its legs which a bit taller than acguys 19.2 meters. Side by side it looks like the zock is maybe 2 and a half acguys in height
The humble Zock, one of the very few mobile suits in the Gundam universe that are impossible to backstab.
The Zock, Azock and Reborns can't trust anyone so they watch there own back
its an Amphibious Kshatriya lol.
As a Zock i can confirm my biology is correct
So you enjoy yourself?
The Thunderbolt Zock is an awesome machine. Transport Mobile Armours are rare.

Lmao the Zock went through a whole Digimon evolution from the original, to RTG, to Thunderbolt.
i dont really talk to zock much but from what I've seen he's a good person (im the acguy person from before but i've been locked out of my main account)
I noticed from the icon and was thinking what are the odds of someone having the same pic talking bout the same thing, got to see you like him
Have you been transportet in one?
I love seeing unique mobile suits like the guntank and the zock. Always interesting!

thank you, glad you enjoyed it
Gm pilot: I’ll flank this goofy ahh ms from behind, wait why is he backing up?
Zock: by the power vested in my 4 MPC. I sentence you to nonexistence
Thank you! No one ever talk about this thing, which is unfortunate
I rly loved the Journey to Jaburo design, and it kinda bugs me that this design was never seen beyond that. Unless you count the thunderbolt version.
the TB design looks similar just MUCH bigger and can carry MS, its so odd how they made this design than never reused it again. In some cases I like it more than the OG zock
Masers remind me of X-COM Terror of the Deep cannons, and the Zgock reminds me of the Urbanmech of Battletech as it too is a mobile gun turret
18:18 the perspective on that picture is all sorts of wonky.
For me, this Mobile Suit feels like it would fight better in space than the others, even the Gundam. Like, I can see this model the best one if say the Expanse had its own Mobile Suits.
Notable about the zock in jtj is that it is the final story mode boss as well
Too bad this design never left j2j it a nice redesign
i think the zock reversable design was made cause its so big. doing a 180 would be too slow so just flip the arms and the eye and you are facing that sneaky enemy
agreed, on paper it sounds nice but now u need double the weapons. a odd dude as a whole still love him tho
i love these amphibious analysis episodes!
glad your enjoying them!
this is my kinda video, i love the amphibious suits in gundam, so wacky but loveable
I'm pretty sure the Zock's iron nail was made exclusivly to bash through the fortifications of Jaburo.

I played J to J back in the day, first game I got for the PS2 and I remember the Zock opening the beak and firing a MPC like the Bigro?
It looks like a cactus
🌵

It could be awesome if we got a radially symmetrical Mobile Suit.
There is a Rafflesia, but it's an MA.
Them water mobile suits almost killed Gundam and. Jaburo
ruclips.net/video/malFAVoJrO0/видео.html the oct-zock lol
do you consider the zgok, acguy, gogg, and zock to be the 4 main marine ms?
id say so. those 4 appeared in the og anime and most recognizable. Acguy and Zgok much more making more appearances in other things than any other marine ms
I see you don't have Tominos mindset. How tragic
How big is the thunderbolt Zock?

I'm not a big fan of the Zock's design, I think it's the legs, he just looks too dumpy
Funny how the legs don't even move due to the hover system, it makes him look top heavy
