Wow, another one built. Good looking ship, nice that there are so many available in 1/700 scale. Looking forward to your next posting.

I also like them, the ram bow gives the ship a more aggressive look than hood, but the middle portion with the life boat platform looks a little strange to me, somehow

Well done model the airplane is surplus to the kit as the catapult has been removed and the ships boats are in front of the hangers

Beautiful job! I love the aircraft on the crane. Pity “Repulse” didn’t get the same upgrades; she might have survived the Japanese. Probably not, though...
I always thought the rear turret on those two ships looks like an afterthought!
(Er, maybe I’m showing my ignorance but where is the aircraft catapult?)
    Cheers!

Hi Jay! Thank you! There is a documentation from Drachinifel on RUclips on the topic of the sinking of Force Z, where he makes interesting conclusions on the tragedy, i can recommend it if you are intereted.
Someone told me that the Renown didnt even have a catapult plane at the time, it was just included by Trumpeter, so there is no catapult, the cranes seem to be only for the life boats! I didn't know that either,

I have the same model, but I found that I am incredibly bad at manipulating the parts with a tweezer. Very enjoyable model to build and I am painting mine in Eastern Fleet colors which is more appropriate for my 1945 version. I am surprised that the paint guide did not suggest this color scheme. Mine is also brush painted. I have never used an air brush and am much more comfortable with brush paint.

Thanks Paul, i am glad you like my models! The HMS Renown, i think she took me around three days of excessive modelling where i sat at the desk virtually the whole day, but i could not give you an exact amount of hours

Nice, I can't imagine those small parts but that scale would be a space saver. Im still working on that 1 /350 Alaska with all that damned photo etch . Its getting easier after annealing but its still a headache. Keep up the good work really enjoyable to watch.

    • @funinscale2892
      @funinscale2892  3 года назад

Thanks! I think with alaska, the PE parts might be a little bit more complicated because of the painting process, to not destroy any of them, but it has a sophisticated camouflage, not looking forward to the guam in this regard.

This sounds good, i wondered how they would propel the plain into the air from what the model shows. Maybe they picked up a plane from another ship that got lost for this specific build

No, the aircraft was no longer carried on the ship.
Trumpeter included it because that specific sprue is common to other ships in terms of small caliber guns, boats, cranes and fittings.
So you just get a spare.

Thanks! For a first ship you could have picked something easier, or, to say the least, better-fitting, but im sure you will make a great model! Weathering would have suited her well, so i would recommend doing some on her, unlike me (i wanted to keep the camo clean, but i think i will weather it some day too)

@@RikaRikaItsumika True, ... i just prefer slide moulded superstructure as the buildings are all aligned as they should be, most of the time. those are mostly included in more recent trumpeter kits. i could recommend USS texas in 1/700 there, but with the older trumpeter kits, one needs patience
