Thank you for showing the comparison between the 6" and 8.5". I'm thinking of getting a new machine and wasn't sure which size to get. Sounds like I can go with the 6" and get the new universal plates.
I'm still using a Big Kick. Nothing wrong with it. But when it comes time to replace it I will get this one. I love the larger base. I just don't love the price.
It’s the same, in terms of size, as the previous version. Has the universal plates which are the standard for Spellbinders now. She kept saying “rebranded”, but the branding isn’t actually changed. It’s just the most current version.
Nancy I need help How do I make my sandwich? This is what I got with my platinum six except of course, the butterfly embossing folder. . I have read the directions and I can’t seem to get it to emboss.
Hi Nancy, I would like to know the thickness of the components of the Universal Extended Plate system. I'm especially interested in learning the thickness of the B and F components. Unable to get this information from Spellbinders Customer Support or on the web. I have the older gold and white Platinum. Thinking I only need the B and F components to make the complete Universal system. Is that assumption correct?
@@wendyc1276 I did not see the B and F components for the large Platinum on their website. They had some mylar shims but only for the little platinum. I also wnated the B component as well. Having the thickness of the components would at least allow me to try and DIY. Recently spent so much $ for the machine already. Fixed income does not allow me to spend any more. Hopefully someone will have the info and share.
@@wendyc1276 Hi Wendy, I bought some mylar like cutting sheets at $ Tree that do work well as shims. They take the cutting and help keep my acrylic cutting plates unmarked. I just get tired of adding Shims for different brands of dies and embossing folders. Apparently, the new Universal system helps eliminate that issue with their various components. I just can't see paying the extra money for that system when I already have 4 out of the 6 elements. I am retired and on a fixed income. I just need to know the thickness of the plates/shims in the Universal system so I can DIY my own and save $.
What is the weight difference? I’m thinking bigger is better unless I can’t lift it. I have a Cuttlebug that I love because it folds up but have used a Big Shot for ages which does not fold up & harder to store.
My machine just arrived going to use tomorrow can’t wait
the nail color!
If you don't mind, could you please demo one of Spellbinders steel rule dies? I want to purchase them but the videos they share are very few.
Awesome video! I just got this machine for $90.00 and the foil machine for $60.00 at the Hobby Lobby clearance sale. I can’t wait to use it.
Looks like it rolls good
Fantastic new machine . Thank you.
Thank you for sharing. I’m looking for new machine

I very rarely use the big one. The 6" is plenty big enough.
Does the universal plate system only come in the 6.25 inch size?
Great video. Personally I prefer the larger machines. Feel they give better results due to higher pressure.

I like mine for for slimline dies
Where can I buy the 8.5 inch plate system for my big platinum 6. The large plates and my arthritis don't get along.
Hi How does it roll? I ordered one I’m hoping I get do it ok? Thank you so much great grandma 😇😇🎂
It's good
@@NancyStamps Thank you so much hugs 😇😇😇
Do you know if Sizzix - Scoreboards Plus Dies - Full Size Journal from Eileen Hull fit on that machine? Will it cut? Will it work? Thank you.
Hi Nancy, T4s
I watched your entire video & missed how the new Spellbinders Platnium machine is ‘improved’ other than it includes the extended cutting plates.
That's exactly what's improved. Comes with the Universal Plate system now.

I don't think you can buy them separately though.
They do sell components separately on the website

Is your standard plate system not cutting well? I tend to add shims of cardstock if I have a die that isn’t cutting in spots

Yes I have a question I have a Gemini hot foiling machine can I use a spellbinders cut machine with it .
You can add a few extra cutting plates under it to try. I used 4 under mine to fit in the Big Shot.
Are there 2 glimmers machines? Thank you so much

I'll weigh it. (It's heavy)
Nope looks like the same one I purchased years ago… except the larger plate.
It is the same machine. The only difference is it comes with the new universal platform.
