I think Ferguson emerged during the time when Rangers weren’t in the 1st division so he probably left them to go to Aberdeen as they were playing in a higher quality league at the time.
It's good to see Scottish players doing well in European leagues. We haven't had enough of that over the years (there are exceptions). Thing is, he's still unlikely to break into the Scotland team right now because the two players who play in his position have been excelling. He's likely to be an option from the bench in next summer's Euros.
