I love watching your family and how ya both raise them. I agree with you 100% about feeding the kids and snack times. My kids were raised the same way and now they are raising their kids like this as well. Your doing a great job the both of you. I only had 6 kids, but we are raising 2 of our grand kids now ( siblings). So the fun started again 12 years ago for us... Thank you for sharing your lovely family with us all. May the Lord bless y'all and keep y'all safe and healthy.

My second great grandson is autistic and they think he has ADHD. My granddaughter has an older one as well and as she worked in a nursery one too one with a little boy. So when she had him she picked it up early. He was only 2 when he was diagnosed. It was a shock when she had her next baby 5 years later to find he was worse. She's been lucky having a diagnoses early. Xx

You have an amazing attitude to feeding your children. I had the same attitude as you. A balanced diet is key without stress and giving them a positive relationship with food. I sat in front of food for hours as a child and I vowed I wouldn’t do that to my 3. A lovely blog as always xx

  • @abidyke
    @abidyke 2 года назад

You’ve explained this so well! Everything in moderation is what your body needs. As long as you’re eating a balanced diet it is healthy - there is no foods that are actually good or bad for you - it just creates an unhealthy relationship with food

To tackle the issue of it being too hard to film while doing the daily tasks, mealtimes, etc, I wonder if you could set up a tripod in the corner and just film while you do everything, then speed it up (kind of like timelapse) and do a voiceover over it explaining what you're doing? Then you'd have footage but wouldn't be distracted from your parenting duties.

I'm a Mom to 4 boys (2 of which have autism). At dinner time I cook a main meal and then have to cater for the 2 boys with autism.
1 will only eat chicken nuggets, chicken burgers or bacon toasties. He will not eat any fruit or veg at all.
The other 1 tends to opt for plain toast or a bowl of cereal. Is not keen on hot food. Very visual with food and will not eat a chicken nugget if it comes out of the oven looking too brown. Doesn't like any kind of sauce or food in sauce.
We love a burger too. Our latest concoction is spicy chicken fillet on a bun with chilli halloumi burger melt, jalapeños,crushed up chilli heatwave doritos and nandos perinaise sauce.

My husband was gone from about 5:30 am to 6 or 7 at night. I told him one morning if he didn’t stay home from work till noon so I could sleep I would go crazy. Lack of sleep will do you in.

I totally agree, no reason to get so worried about food unless of course they eat nothing, but if they eat cheese sandwiches for 3 months then so be it! I did exactly the same and cooked everything from scratch and my son ate fabulously until he was 13 months old, then he just stopped eating anything but chicken nuggets. He's now 16 and chicken nuggets are still a staple of his diet. You can't force children to eat. Food is so expensive now that buying what they eat is the best way.

I totally agree with you, everything in moderation, the only way to go. My children enjoy eating because I also don't force them to eat everything I put in front of them. After a few weeks or months they will ask to try what they usually don't eat and they sometimes like it. Really good advice, thank you. Nice to know that people on the other side of the world also agree with me.

Love your attitudes towards food and family meals! Having struggled myself, I totally understand where you are coming from Zoe. I allow my 2 year old to have pretty much anything that we eat (minus anything that would be obviously unsafe or too salty/spicy etc) but in moderation. He doesn’t get chocolate or cakes etc every day but he is allowed to eat them. I think it makes these things less exciting in a way, so they don’t seem ‘forbidden’ as I’m sure this can be what leads to problems with food further down the line. We seem to be lucky in that our 2 year eats pretty much anything and he loves his fruit and veggies, but I really try to allow him a little bit of everything. Thanks for this video, lots of great points! 🥰

You 100% have the same attitude to food as me, I grew up with binge eating disorder and a year ago had bariatric surgery. I knew when I had kids I didn’t want food or weight to be an issue so my kids have never heard me talking about weight or diets. We have loads of snacks, chocolate and biscuits (as well as fruit 😂) but we have 2 snacks and 3 meals. I tell them this is because I can’t afford to feed them constantly but I hope this gives them a better relationship with food. So far it seems to be working. We also stopped drinking 3 years ago for the same reason and do not miss it at all, we always say it feels like alcohol adds to your life but it doesn’t it takes away. ❤️ I’d of loved lots of kids too but my husband decided 4 was enough for him 🤣

Ultimately you have to think about their mental health as well as their physical health. I believe as you do that it is all in moderation. I hate the BMI things the schools do. As a result of all this calorie counting and such, both of my Granddaughters deal with food problems and body image. It angers me to see so many young people with the same problems.

Chocolate has iron in it so it's not that bad for them. My older great grandson is autistic and he doesn't like certain thing's. He say's the same about some foods having to be from Tesco. My granddaughter has even put thing's in Tesco pkts but he still knows it's not from there. My husband only likes the proper brand weetabix. I always called it tea time till my granddaughter came back to live with me at the age of 14 and called it lunch and dinner but i still revert back to saying tea time now she's got her own place and family. 😅 xx

Hi all....dont worry about people judging you what you feed your family...we are all in same position...my 24 yr old wont eat any vegetables now he is too old for me to say anything...i said to him on numerous occasions its not now he will feel it but as he gets older his body will tell him what he needs.
And the price of food is expensive here same as uk. We will always worry we are parents...my boys tell me to stop worrying but easier said than done. Anyway have a great weekend...👍☀️🙂

    Hi guys
Applause 👏 you both when it comes to feeding your children.
It’s very difficult at times when they won’t eat much
My 7 children were all different in that respect. I even went as far to putting food colouring in the mash so they would eat it ha ha.
Baby Florence certainly does love a cuddle. Keep up the good work anyway
    Have a great weekend
    Love Kim x x

Love your food ideas, exactly right! Besides which, your family has a great balance and you probably do more walking than a lot of families. Keep on doing what you do so well. PS Love hearing about the cheese sandwiches, same here with the added bonus of Vegemite. Thankfully my daughter now eats more things than me. My philosophies were the same as yours.

Your allowed to look tired Mumma, I raised 7 young kids on my own, my husband passed away, not easy 😊...in Australia you can buy a packet of pepperoni sticks, my youngest when she was at school loved them.
I had my youngest at 42, it was a breeze, mind you I'm 61 now 😅
Food has gone up here too, what was once your basic meal, has for some become a luxury, sad really 😢

    Hi from Nottingham
My Granddaughter was having problems with her milk and my daughter tried her with the anti reflux formula but it never really worked so the doctor put her on Nutramigen formula and problem solved. It tastes disgusting and smells even worse but she seams to like it.

Have you thought about using soya milk for your wee baby girl. My oldest is 32 and for months and months I tried everything, she was so unsettled during and after her feed, about half way through she would start to have cramps and for houses afterwards. I had bags of every teat for the bottle as thought it might be the flow and also bottles of every type. Eventually after weeks and weeks the health visitor said “ well the only thing I can think of is soya milk but I don’t think t will be that”. Well obviously I tried it and she was a different baby from then on. I went on to have two more children and because I couldn’t breast feed after a few weeks and had to put them on the bottle and both times I saw the signs and put them on soya milk. Just thought I’d mention it just in case you hadn’t thought of it but I’m sure you have. I marvel at you both and love dropping in on you guys. I live very near by and think your all amazing 😍

I’m so glad you have found something that is working. I meant to say it was baby formula soya milk, I’m sure you can still get it if things don’t pan out with the one your trying, I didn’t want you to think I’d stuck my baby on to normal soya milk lol. Anyway I’m glad the one your trying is working, don’t know why I’m writing this, I could just have shouted up the road and you would hear me 😂😂😂 we’r so close. Lots of love ❤️ xx

I have freinds who put the food out and their 4 kids always eat the lot without a word ?. 2 of my children are so fussy they'd drive you mad and 1 of them just eats everything I think the biggest problem is junk food They all love junk and supermarkets do sell a lot of junk food .

From day one of weaning I hated potato and spat it out, ate pretty much everything else - never ate them or crisps until I was about 26 years old and even now at 60 I am still not a potato lover

Great video about what you all eat. Love your attitude towards food about everything in moderation, definitely what I belive in too. And definitely aim to teach my son that too.
Also understand the whole toddler not eating. My son is 3 and half and quite fussy too, doesn't like rice or pasta. Is a hit or miss with other foods too. But always put a little on his plate and encourage him to try it.
He seems to be doing great at tasting new foods at nursery which is great, and yes he used to eat everything when he was weaning but not now! 😂
Also totally agree with the whole BMI, never understood it. 🙄 It's just stupid. And I totally agree about letting kids have both healthy and unhealthy foods because yes if you don't allow it they just go wild when they have the freedom to but what they want. I know although healthy as a kid, once I had freedom as a teenager I would eat all sorts of rubbish for lunch from the shops.
Great video, enjoy watching them and your lovely family. You do such an amazing job with them all. 😊

Hi zoe Ben Florence I think its stupid the is a bit scale cos all babies are not born the same weight same length . I'm 68 and had my son 50 yrs ago when I first had go hospital to book my bed the doctor gave me a diet sheet I gave it mum when j got home and she ripped it up I was 9st and the doctor had told he I was too fat .my sons got bronchitis and lost a load off weight I used ro cook a meal for both of us but he would just push it round his plate he'd eat a few fork fulls now I ask him what he wants some days he just says I'll have rice pud or scrambled egg on toast and boiled ham he will have a proper meal a couple of times a week but if he's eating what he wants at least he's putting something in his stomach . Love fran xxx
