Bro literally this. I can't believe he's been relying on the blue pump all these years. It's SO important to have a regular inhaler (combination ones these days). There's literally evidence now to prove people who rely on the blue inhaler are more at risk of acute severe attacks because they aren't getting the preventative control you get from a steroid/combi inhaler. If Olive is poorly alot with coughs that make her sick, have her seen for asthma too. My children have asthma and that was their main symptom, coughing to the point of vomiting when they were ill (and wheezing) both are now on proper treatment for their asthma at 2 and 6. Xx
How you got proper treatment for asthma at 2 and 6 is insane, Because they don't diagnose asthma for the most part in children till their later years, My son is 5 and has been at the doctors practically every month with some form of asthma attacks and they refuse to do call it asthma despite every DR saying they think it is that...

Thanks for sharing your story about the asthma attack- from what you've said it definitely sounds like a life threatening episode and it must have been very scary, glad to see Ethan's on a proper inhaler regimen now and feeling much better. Just to correct one thing Faith said at 6.15- if the nebulisers/medication don't work, we don't just let you die- you get intubated ( a breathing tube) and put onto a ventilator which obviously isn't great, but buys time for your airways to calm down, and as a young fit person Ethan would more likely than not pull through even if it got that bad. Make sure he attends his annual asthma review, if he's using his blue inhaler too frequently then he should be reviewed sooner.☺️
Wanted to say just that. I’m a lung and ICU doc. Do use your combined inhaler (the steroid/bronchodilator) as prescribed if they scheduled it twice daily. You can also use it as needed (4x day or so). Rinse your mouth out after use and if you’re using it frequently then that’s an indication that things are not well-controlled.
lmaoo, i also have asthma and i also do this, its just bcs our airway is not at 100 percent, like a 'normal' person, so either way, slow talking or not, we breathe louder and faster than 'normal' ppl :)

I use to work as an asthma nurse and it was infuriating how many people didn’t take their asthma seriously. it’s so important to use a steroid inhaler every single day and night regardless of whether you’re well or not to control the inflammation and prevent an asthma attack in the first place. The blue is for symptom relief only, and if you’re needing it more than 3 times a week your asthma is badly controlled and needs reviewing. Also make sure you’re using a spacer with a spray or dry powder inhaler if not

I have severe eosinophilic asthma which is the worst type of asthma. I used to have life threatening attacks weekly I am now on biological injections every other week and has changed my life! The blood gases are horrific!!! Hope Ethans new treatment plan helps and he can relax such a scary illness!
It makes me so angry that people dont take asthma seriously. My dad died from asthma and believe me its no joke😢. Please ensure you take your inhalers regularly as prescribed even if you feel ok and attend regular checks as required. I have the exact same asthma issues I always have under estimated it, brown and blue inhaler. Hadn't been checked in years and got badly triggered by a chest infection and now I'm on the powder version and the blue as well. Thanks for sharing your experience as I know it is a life threatening thing sometimes but hearing you were on the same as me (assuming treating it the same way as I was by underestimating it). Really eye opening you had a near death experience with it got me thinking about it more seriously. Thanks again for sharing.
Dear Ethan, try eating fresh ginger early in the morning. I used to have asthma attacks every month and nothing was working for me too. I tried ginger as my last ditch for survival I did it for like 2 weeks and for the past 8 years never had an asthma attack. It worked for me, might or might not work for you. Try it on empty stomach in the morning

I was born with asthma, suffocated to death and was resuscitated. Since I was born with it I eventually grew out of it. I don’t have perfect lungs or cardiovascular endurance but I haven’t had an asthma attack in many many years
struggled with asthma my entire childhood then it somewhat went away when i got older then suddenly 2 years ago at age 28 when i had broken my foot and was limping around on crutches for 3 months i got a severe astma attack, couldnt take a proper breath and was like breathing through a straw and had to focus hard to not panic, took 4 hours before i called the ambulance, had to stay in the hospital for 3 days,
My husband and I are currently doing fertility stuff. I have to get dye up my tubes to make sure that they’re clear and not scarred. It’s a long journey! We also play it takes two! It’s definitely therapy 😅😅

Glad to hear you're doing well Ethan! I recently spent 6 days in hospital myself with a Pneumothorax (collapsed lung), so I can somewhat relate. I was convinced I was having a heart attack/dying due to it being my left lung.😂 6 days with a tube attached to a bucket hanging out of your lung is no fun I can say that much & neither is having to be checked on every 4 hours, including during the already loud & uncomfortable nights. 😆
I have asthma but I kind of grew out of it and didn't take it seriously in my later teens and beyond. However a friend of mine, just turned mother of a child, died a few years back from an asthma attack and it devastated me. Since then I fully understand how serious asthma attacks are and where they could lead to.

Glad to hear you're doing well Ethan! I recently spent 6 days in hospital myself with a Pneumothorax (collapsed lung), so I can somewhat relate. I was convinced I was having a heart attack/dying due to it being my left lung.😂
6 days with a tube attached to a bucket hanging out of your lung is no fun I can say that much & neither is having to be checked on every 4 hours, including during the already loud & uncomfortable nights. 😆
I have asthma but I kind of grew out of it and didn't take it seriously in my later teens and beyond. However a friend of mine, just turned mother of a child, died a few years back from an asthma attack and it devastated me. Since then I fully understand how serious asthma attacks are and where they could lead to.
Thank god for the nhs. So glad that Ethan is ok, I think people underestimate how dangerous asthma can be.
There was a yellow fuel can in the back part of the camper. Open fuel like that, I can imagine, would be bad for someone with asthma.
