Swedish Military Tattoo 2006. Stoccolma. Un pezzo molto bello eseguito insieme da tutti i partecipanti, fra i quali la Fanfara Bersaglieri di Bedizzole (BS).
The only pipers I could see there were Hong Kong police in white jackets and burgundy pants. The Pipes & Drums of the 1st Royal Engineers are wearing "black watch" tartan and class A uniform jacket and head dress made of emu feathers. Some of the other bands in this video is Swedish army music corps and norwegian Kings guards. I think, not sure. There are other bands I can't identify.
I'm not a 100% sure, but I think it's the hong kong police dress uniform. If you look at "Flag Raising Ceremony at Golden Bauhinia Square, Hong Kong Special Administrative Region" It's the same uniform, whitout the pith helmet.
Highland cathedral should only ever have bagpipes and drums - that was its beauty - that was what the writers wanted - any interpretation of moving away from that with guitars, trumpets - triangles etc takes away from what Highland Cathedral is all about - it should only ever be bagpipes and drums - that's what made it special - that's what made it great. Don't insult the creators of this great sound by putting in trumpets or guitars - keep it real - it sounds better real than these pathetic attempts at taking a unique and great sound and destroying it with trumpets, guitars and oboes... Two instruments is all it takes and the writers wrote it for two instruments and made it great.
I have understood that Highland Cathedral was written for pipes + organ. I know you can't do that outside at a tatoo, but I believe the organ-pipes version is the original. C
Wow! This is so cool! I've always dreamt of being Scottish. I can remember how many times I saw the video of Mull of Kintyre wishing I was one of those pipers. I'm saving some money to go to Scotland in 2014 to learn the bagpipes, would you give me some tips of where to go there to do this?
Pardon a dumbarsed Yank, but in the years I was in Hong Kong, Highland Cathedral seemed to always be the final bit played at any trooping or HKG function - Royal Marines on HMS Tamar, HM Royal Police at Government House, and so on. The uniform of the piper here and behind him are almost certainly those of HM HKG Royal Police. What am I missing?
Thanks. Yes, I see that. It's not politically correct, but within my interest in history, I have always had a keen interest in 'end of empire,' say 1870-1950-something. I took the pith helmet and feathers as colonial dress. The uniform Patten refused was just the same as the young Capt.'s /Hugo
I love this song it seems hes playing it at 6/8 march instead of 4/4 slow march hes way too fast. We play this all the time and much slower. Nice backing thou with the brass band and the other pipers
Thanks very much, you really know your uniforms... I should get your help with my Class A's. They are never quite right, typical of a US Army doctor I fear!! I was in HK at the same time Chris Patten was governor. When Patten came in, he did away with most of the Colonial Trappings - refused the wear the uniform for instance. In "Hong Kong Hand Over - Government House 1997" there is an officer who receives the folded Union Jack and transfers it to the Governor. What uniform is that?
1982 haben diesen Instrumental Song 2 deutsche komponiert Dankeschön Ulrich Roever und Michael Korb 👍🙏
Wow. This American, whose DNA is 49% Scottish, loves the pipes. Beautiful.

This is very good excellent music, even while playing it seems it is their original...Really!!
Thanks. I did learn that Highland Cathedral is the anthem of the (Royal) HK Police, and still is after the 1997 take over.

Scotland the brave, highland cathedral, who cares cheese is cheese
