Today we are joined by Vandepump cast member Charli Burnett and journalist Kate Aurthur to break down the shocking and infamous Vanderpump Season 10 Finale. We talk to Charli about her friendship with Raquel and the rest of the cast, and what finally gave the affair away. She is extremely generous with telling us what Raquel and Sandoval were hoping to have happen after revealing their love for one another, and what Season 11 is going to look like if Ariana refuses to film with either of them. Kate provides invaluable knowledge having covered all of the seasons of Vanderpump, and recently having published a Scandoval article for Variety.

I think she was SPOT ON saying Raquel’s identity being in pageants at 28 years old is odd - and she probably never grew out of that competitive, superficial headspace.
I don’t think Raquel or Charli are good examples of how the Pageant world can shape a young lady. Taylor Hale - Miss Michigan USA 2021 won Big Brother in part because of her witty ability to make great speeches off the cuff.

Rachel is simply dumb.. shes been dumb since shes been on the show.. there is something missing like shes had a labotomy... that girl truly was too dumb to think she was doing was wrong.. shes not all there at all

It was SUCH an intriguing perspective. As someone who is fascinated by psychology and in the field…. This was a lesson I had never learned, in school nor life. VERY intrigued and would love to hear her expand and elaborate on this (even if general- doesn’t have to be at someone’s expense)
A moment of appreciation for moment 17:56, when Kate checks in to ask charli if she was okay (in the most impressive, authentic manner that made it seem genuine and safe) … bravo, immediate respect given. I had to stop and take the time to acknowledge that.

Schwartz is not well-intentioned. He fully knew everything that was happening and it’s obvious that he was helping to cover up Sandoval’s “crimes.” Schwartz is great at weaponizing incompetence in order to evade responsibility for his shitty actions and creates a response from everyone to feel sorry for him.

I feel like Schwartz has zero intentions. He just moves through life without thinking about it. Sometimes it works out well, sometimes not.
Most of the stuff that’s happened in the past 10 years are not of his making. Katie was the reason he got married, and got divorced. Lisa is the reason he got TomTom, Sandoval is the reason he got S&S. Even being on VPR, his girlfriend and best friends were cast and he just kinda fell in by default because he was around.
He’s never aimed for anything, never set a goal and achieved it. He always just along for the ride and often fails upwards.
Other times he is along for the ride and makes out with Raquel, even though he knows it will hurt Katie, or help Sandoval conceal his affair even though it will destroy Ariana’s relationship.
I think the affair was a pageant for Rachel. Tom was the coach telling her what to say, what to do, how to act, what to wear. The public facade was talent and q&a. Taking Ariana's place would have been the crown.
She’s the negative version of “pick me, choose me, love me” lol
The fact that this involved Tom and Rachel from a timing perspective is interesting. It's been mentioned about Tom going through a mid-life crisis (which I can kind of attest to, being in my 40s) and it seems like she went through a quarterlife crisis, leaving the structure and predictability of the pageant world. They were both seemingly listless and facing a loss of identity and were sort of a perfect storm.

@@stuffykong he's so dumb, if he had just leaned in to the actual self crisis of it all, people would've understood, they'd have liked him more, maybe understood the hair, nails & outfit choices. But the way he handled it was just so evil, manipulative, fake. He would've done so much better had he just left the relationship.

This was probably one of her first interviews. And this is a very precarious time frame just before the reunions. She had to be nervous being on the hot seat with tough questions being thrown at her.
Unpopular opinion - I’ve always liked Charli even though she doesn’t appear on the show as much. But I liked her even more after she was upfront with Rachel with how effed up she was in MX with Schwartz. I wish Ariana did the same when Rachel, Ariana and Katie were having dinner. Instead Ariana said “Raquel! I didn’t know you had it in you” 🥴 which didn’t necessarily encourage it but it sort of suggested like it wasn’t a huge deal. Yes, Rachel is an adult and should have, at her big age - a moral compass.

Rachel was guided Sandy because he knew he could snow her. Tom and Rachel both act like they are in the 7th grade. Both are way beyond and should act like it. Tom did not have the balls to commit. Discuss having children as he screws around. Sandy is no Elvis, nor can he support a groupie on the side. Rachel will be out of town as long as Sandy is.
I really enjoyed this podcast. I'm walking away really liking and having a positive of sense of who Charlie is. Greatly respect her stepping away from the show to take care of herself. And love how she called out Tom's fake crying. He "cried" whit Schwartz and Lisa, was so dismissive of Ariana and screamed at her. Thank you Charlie.

This is what I love about Podcasts. I’ve hear Charli speak more in this video that the past 3 seasons of VPR combined.
Her shining moment of the season was definitely her telling Rachel that making out with Schwartz was a dick move. Can’t wait to see her (and everyone) on the reunion
I don't think she is involved in the reunion... She wasn't a big part of the storyline and scandoval kind of took over so they aren't going to waste any time on her. Not in a mean way... They are just going to focus on the hot topics

I can't wait for parts 2 and 3...I feel like they're going to bring Rachel out at the end of part 2 and then we'll have to wait another week to get to the really good parts
I have mixed emotions after the girls trip and her nasty mouth remarks about Katie then watching Rachett hook up with Sandoval knowing Arianna lost Charlotte. Had hope when she called out Rachett over kiss but then backing Rachett like she is a wounded party screw her..Charli dip out.

The fact that Charli and Raquel tried on all that jewelry, and specifically the lightening bolt moment made it on camera---someone in production knew.
Well, that’s the one she bought, but I believe they felt something was maybe going on.
However, Ariana trusted them both & never thought that they would do that to her.
@@maggieyoung8090 It is the item she bought, but cast members probably go shopping with each other all the time so it's noteworthy IMO this made it in the final edit, especially when there is at least one scene in an earlier season of Kristen wearing a lightning bolt necklace.

I have to say I was pleasantly surprised and impressed with Charli when she checked Rachel in the scene where they were at the park chatting about how Rachel wanted to/made out with Schwartz. When I watched Charli’s reaction and the way she tried to tell Rachel (in other words) that what she was doing was super unethical, I really respected Charli and appreciated her as a woman. That’s someone you want to be your friend because she will always give you solid guidance and bring you back down to earth when you’re fkng up.
I liked that the lady asked Charlie “are you ok now?” Great follow up to deep thing Charlie said.

I have no doubt that Sandavol hooked up with Raquel while she was with James and she left James with the intention of being with Sandavol. So the affair start a long time ago. I think this is what she will reveal in the last 5 min of the show.
On the topic on what drives Tom, my opinion is that being adored, liked, popular etc... is what drives him. I think he's riddled with insecurities and wants everyone around him to validate him. That's why he does these overtop gestures for his friends. He's always tried to steal the scene. And that's why Rachel and him were drawn to each other. He seeks validation in everyone and she seeks it in men. Birds of a feather and all that

This was the best podcast... I've always said Charli has a lot to say and she's so real. Loved it so much!
I wanted to hear more from Charli. Hopefully, she does more podcasts. Also, Charli reminds me so much of Ariana (fights with depression, death in family, level-headed, and does not seek out attention/fame from the show & willingness to leave the show).

I think the big reveal is that a few more people knew and that it started when Rachel was still with James and THAT'S why the engagement was broken at the Season 9 reunion.

Great insight, she’s 100% right. I danced for 10yrs & it took some time for me to resolve the competitive, unnatural feeling I developed towards women, men, & relationships. I’ve loved Charli, from day one her intentions have been just to enjoy life. Her morals are strong & that makes her the most beautiful young lady on the show! I wish we could see her more, she’s much more fun to watch than corrupt backstabbers. Our society should promote more do-gooders! It’s so refreshing to see someone prioritize their health, loved ones & personal life over running to the camera. If she had a vlog or channel I’d SO watch! 💖
Shwartz and Sandoval will never learn. They’ve lied for so long to cover for one another they’ve forgotten what the truth looks like. I think shwartz is a covert narcissist. And also let’s be real…he was an active participant in the affair. He spent all his time on double dates and just hanging out with them. I honestly think he didn’t see the fallout being so bad because he’s used to getting out of everything!

Nick, the person that Tom stepped out on was revealed on Sheana’s show with Danny Pellegrino, it appears he was with the lead singer of his cover band, and shortly after she just disappeared, without a word or explanation why, she left, so that was the person besides Billie Lee!

I think the revelation is going to be that production actually knew all along. That's the only thing that I think would really hurt the entire cast and make them not want to recommit to filming. And as someone who's worked as PA on many sets, I always found it incredibly hard to believe that absolutely no one on that crew knew anything.
Remember this was actually brought up when this news first broke. Andy and LVP said that the production team was kind of wondering about certain things but they choose to follow Ariana’s lead. Ariana insisted that there was nothing going on everything was fine. In the interviews they even asked Tom Scum-Davol about his being at the Abbey with “Rachel” and Tom faced the camera and lied to the staff and the whole world and said he was totally innocent 🤦♀️
Maybe that or maybe Tom and Ariana and Raquel had a threesome? Just speculating.
I’ve heard they are raising rent in SUR and LVP doesn’t want to pay it , so they are moving to her restaurant in Vegas and the cast can either go or resign

I always loved how Charli stood up to Lala and I love Lala but I like how charli tries to do what’s right and just calls things out the hypocrisy, or unjust. Lala and Charlo would make great friends. They both know when to stand up for themselves but they seem like they have big hearts. Chari was really pleasant on this episode, I hope we see more of her and who she is never season
This interview made me love Charlie. She’s much more introspective and down to earth than she comes off on the show! And Nicks commentary is 👌🏼 as always!
Charli was always someone I liked for being real. I hope there’s a place for her in Vanderpump moving forward.
Literally what Charlie said about pageants is what I’ve been saying
But then look at someone like Big Brother winner Taylor Hale. She won Miss Michigan USA 2021. She’s very articulate and her speech at the finale is why she won Big Brother. That speech and pretty much all her speeches on the Show will go down in history as some of the best of the 24 Seasons of Big Brother!!
I was shocked that Charli & Raquel weren’t well spoken. Raquel also graduated college. The fact that Charli & Raquel are inarticulate beauty queens is probably why they never won a title.
@@KS-hi8vi The same experiences don’t necessarily guarantee the same outcome yanno …I think that Raquel is used to being wanted and told she’s the most beautiful by her family and probably foreign to consequences . So when James left her for someone everyone liked off bat (which wasn’t her experience) and her getting single or unclaimed men wasn’t catching anyone’s attention she started to compete. All that lack of confidence play is what got people attracted to be her friend in the beginning but that was getting tired so the next resort is to turn it into a competition that’s why she always pointed out somebody is “jealous” like Lala with Oliver then Katie and Tom. The problem was she kept “winning” so it was always upped a level after.

I think Charli is so right about the reunion tea being that more people knew…I think there may be receipts. Cause realistically, who tf cares if Raquel was pregnant or is. Why would that blow the group up? The only thing that could would be if it was exposed that some people acting like they had no idea, had ideas the whole time & were also hiding it…I think that’s what could make some people not want to come back

Before watching this, I wondered if Rachel being pregnant was the thing that would come out at the reunion but now I'm wondering if we'll find out that Lisa Vanderpump knew all along. I don't think so, in some clip- maybe from the reunion preview lisa seems let down that Rachel could do that to her friend that was so good to her. She specifically mentioned not thinking Rachel could be so sneaky. I guess anythings possible with editing.

I think it might be that there actually was a throuple situation and that's how it all started. That Tom and Ari allowed her in together, that it was a one off thing or something and Tom and Rachel continued it secretly.

I think the bombshell is that the showrunner or someone in production knew something like a month before it broke and were planning to film Tom breaking up with Ariana at Tom’s direction (or something like that)then Ariana found out and completely turned the tables and she got to tell the story (she did great btw ). I think that’s why it’s going to impact ppl wanting to film right away

I think this season was so big because people liked ariana enough that they were invested in their relationship succeeding. This came out of left field and shocked everyone. So everyone wanted to watch every episode to see what they could find out.

I think the affair was going on for longer, more people in the friendship group were aware and involved in facilitating them creeping about, there were more heinous acts committed by them during the affair which high tens the betrayal.

Tom is no Cypher. His entire pathos is summed up in one confessional scene from season 10. He tells the producers that
"My Mom has invested a quarter of a millon of her retirement into Swartz and Sandy's. I just need to prove that I can actually follow through on something."
"What did your Mom do?"
"She was a firefighter. Her hands are like Mickey Rourkes."
Tom has only felt male acceptance and his own masculinity through "bagging chicks". He has no other ability to exert his masculinity. When the show started, they were all actually broke. All the female cast were supporting thier male spouses. Kristen supported Tom. And Tom ...he didn't exactly use the show to hustle...Ariana got a cocktail book. Kristen Stassi and Katie had the witches of WeHo. All the female cast hustle, and use thier showtime for side hustles from the early days. Lisa Vanderpump had to give Tom and Tom "real jobs". They weren't even attempting to capitalize on the show outside of modeling.
Tom hates women and he always has. A lot of it is generic cultural misogyny, but very personally, his mom was a single mom and a tough cookie. He's a mactor who had to be given 5 percent of a restaurant in order to give up his deluded belief he is going to be famous for anything other than VDP.
Tom hates Katie for this reason as well. He is afraid of competent women who don't infantilize him and make him face his proportional incompetence.
I am guessing he resents Ariana because she is smarter than him.
Rachel and Tom were sleeping together before she even broke up with James. Pretty sure that’s why she broke up with James.
I love Charli. She seems honest, loyal and she takes no shit. I hope we get to see her more next season😀

It’s nice that Charli called Sandoval out for his fake crying. He’s SUCH an egomaniac. And Rachel is such a bimbo. I don’t think this panned out the way Rachel would have liked it. But I think Sandoval is still loving it.
The level of narcissism is at a level 10 (out of ten). For Tom to tell Scheana, I wanted to break up but she said she’d k*ll herself. I call horse 💩. And Rachel really thinks he was going to flip his life upside down for HER!
He is definitely the kind of person that lives life “out of sight, out of mind”. That’s pretty obvious.
And let’s discuss Schwartz…. He. Is. A. Weasel. I don’t like the very notion of him being a disobedient puppy. I have a disobedient puppy and he’s precious. Schwartz on the other hand, is more than a spineless weenie, he’s self destructive, he’s only loyal to one person and he doesn’t even have his own best interests at heart. He can’t do anything on his own. It’s awful that not even Sandoval cares about him. It’s a sad situation. He’s an idiot.

I’m pretty sure the other girl Sandavol was banging was a singer from his band who suddenly vanished early on. Scheana has said this on her podcast. The band were apparently aware of Sandavol’s affairs

I want to know how CHARLIE really feels about Ratchet knowing she was lied to about everything as well. And if Charlie has talked to Ratchet about all of it and if they are still friends now.
I didn't like Charlie when she first started the show but damn!! love her now. She is a real one!! Tom hasn't changed.

Wrong Wrong Wrong Charli, I watched Tom and Ariana was just the other woman. And that’s all I know about her. In 9 years, what has she shown us, about her? It was rare seeing T&A affectionate towards each other.
Tom Sandoval’s thought process rubbed off on Tom Schwartz which is why Schwartz does not see and cannot understand why Katie is upset with him and does not want him in her life.
Sandoval had a lot to say about their relationship, but he inserted himself in their relationship from the beginning.
Ariana as the next Bachelorette! I don't watch the Bachelor stuff because it's so redundant and how many brain dead 23 year girls can you listen to before you want to leave the planet but I'd watch that- especially knowing that Tom would be at home biting his white nails
Rachel obviously was letting Sandoval blow smoke up her butt and she obviously started acting like her man and it was all about being the IT girl. I really enjoyed these interviews. Both Charli and Kate were wonderful. I hope VPR gives us a change to see more of Charli in season 11. Charli seems like she can bring a great deal to the show.

Ariana is the true Ride or Die girlfriend/ Friend. I believe Ariana is the type of woman that if she had doubts she was not going to air her dirty laundry. People already judged Ariana early on whenever she said spoke honestly and didn’t gaslight her friends. Look how Scheana, who was supposed to be Ariana’s BFF, spoke horribly about Ariana behind her back. Look how eloquently Ariana has handled this break up. What if she acted like Stassi, Kristen and took this to the camera’s. Ariana didn’t she handled it like an mature adult. I think we all wish we could grow up and be like Ariana.
This is my first time listening to this podcast and it is frustrating me because Charli keeps getting interrupted. I wish that she would have been allowed to speak, instead of the guy putting words in her mouth. I only got a third of the way through and I can't take another minute of this. Bummer.

To be fair, I don’t think Arianna only dismissed Rachel’s behavior. She tends to back away quietly during any wrongdoings, confrontations, or problems or any sort. People always say she’s “in the middle” but really she’s no where to be found 95% or the time when people need to be called out about their actions.

Rachel reminds me of the stage some women go through in the early 20s & teens where a guy who has a girl finds you attractive and you think that is a good thing. She is old enough to know that it’s a giant red flag and it’s toxic behavior
I absolutely love Charli. I stopped watching vanderpump i think on season 6 so i dont know much about her and watching her this season i loved that she would always say what was wrong or right.. the only thing i didn't get was why she was mean to kristina Kelly but loved charli.. i hope if there is another season that shes on more.
We definitely need this side of Charli on VPR season 11. I hope the producers are paying attention.

Calling it now money on it that this affair has been going on a lot longer than the 7 months. Sandoval is a very calculated mf and I think this all stems from everything that happened 5 years ago with James and Kristen and Tom getting back at him for that and possibly have been in this secret relationship since Rachel came on the show.
