That kind of reminds me that here in Spanish-speaking Latin America, many people have noticed that Spongebob's dub actor, Luis Carreño, sounds much more high-pitched in the last 5 or so seasons, but the thing is that in some interviews and conventions when he does his Spongebob, or should I say Bob Esponja, voice he still can do a good impression of what he used to sound since season two (because Bob was voiced by a different actor in the first season). The spinoff movie was directed by someone who doesn't work on anything related to SpongeBob and a board artist of the movie Jay Lender pretty much confirmed every writing decision was executive mandated. Which explains why it was bad 🥶
@GaryViews no kidding! And considering the director (Liza Johnson) 's record of stuff she directed (like the last of us TV show adaptation for instance)...well..I truly do wonder, how on earth do you go from adapting Joel's despair over his daughter getting shot to death, to spongebob smelling shit?!
Obviously the director doesn't give damn about acting quality, so I imagine Sykes was like, "You know what? They're only interested in slapping my name on the project for marketing purposes, so why don't I just put in the bare minimum amount of effort and get an easy paycheck?"
The fact that this movie got leaked in its entirety, everyone said it was awful, and they didn’t make a single change to it before release is the most questionable thing in existence. Massive L, Nickelodeon.
They could have gone the route of „Bikini Bottom got abducted by an Aquarium to put them as an attraction“, Wtf is this about „women wants to pet fish“
First the live action Pinocchio film, then this one. Why does these writers think that having your optimistic character sniffing actual excrement is funny?
I know, right? I thought of the same thing when I noticed SpongeBob inhaling literal crap. And unsurprisingly, just like that "Pinocchio" scene, it was perfect, attention-grabbing material for cynical reviewers to be like, "See? The movie itself knows it''s s**t!"
@@corcortinez5361 I wasn't naming Cynical Reviews in particular. I was saying "cynical reviewers" (note how I wrote it as an improper noun) in general without naming specific ones.
Okay, lemme get this straight. In the picture they show of Sandy when she was the best water-skiing squirrel or something, she looks older, at least older than she does in Kamp Koral. So at some point when she was like 8 she went below the ocean to GO to Kamp Koral to make sure the Krabby Patty formula was discovered by present-Sandy, went back to Texas at some point to perform with her family, went BACK under the ocean at another point likely years later to "meet SpongeBob for the first time" while fighting off a giant clam. Am I missing anything?
One thing I also don't like in Modern SpongeBob is Tom Kenny's aging voice. You can already feel that Tom's voice doing SpongeBob is getting weaker or"lighter" at this point, because he's getting older now. And Nickelodeon still keeps milking their money making machine
Whats sad is as a kid I’d always really wanted to see Sandy’s family. I think this would’ve been SO much better if it had been mostly underwater with her family coming to visit (and maybe one scene with them on land towards the end). The first few SpongeBob movies only had a couple scenes on land and I think it worked in their favor
Another reason why this movie is bad is because the director Liza Johnson NEVER worked on anything Spongebob related except this movie. She’s never even worked in the field of animation. For example: Stephen Hillenburg worked on Rocko’s Modern Life and directed the 1st movie Paul Tibbuit is a storyboard artist and directed the 2nd movie and was the show runner of SpongeBob from 2005-2015 Tim Hill worked on the show from 2005-2007 as a story editor and even helped develop the show and directed the 3rd movie
Same here. They really should just bring something we haven’t seen in a while instead, like The Patakis spinoff series we were going to get after Hey Arnold’s original run, or even an As Told By Ginger continuation, or shows like Invader Zim getting another chance. and several of the more "off-color" scenes. The manure scene and the feet scene.
5:56 that's true SpongeBob used to be still energetic and childish and stupid but he wasstill a little bit smart and he would help Patrick with things but in the newer episodes he's a lot stupider and more babyish.
What is it with nickelodeon and shoving so many kink themes into their movies? It's not even subtle either. Also the rattle snake having human teeth is super cursed. The entire movie is super cursed.
Because they get the freakiest mfs to come in. And let me tell you, when a artist has a kink they like to put it in the media they work on (i have shamelessly done it before as a very young child)
LOL! I lost the count of the times I have read a complain about human teeth on an anthrpomorphic charcter. Also... Have you ever seen Adventures Of Sonic The Hedgehog, Totally Spies and The Lion Guard? Those are so filled of "that's my fetish" moments.
Wanda Sykes was a better villain in that one episode of Bubble Guppies where she played a witch. As a kid, I actually loved that episode, but here, man she really went to new lows
After the second movie the show was actually in a bit of a resurgence in quality, along with the second movie itself being pretty great. Some episodes like Mimic Madness people said we’re on a Golden Era level, sadly not all good things can last, and it feels like after season 12 it just kinda became slop again, along with the past two movies, SpongeBob on the Run and this. This isn’t about disrespecting Hillenburgs legacy, none of the stuff that’s come out after his death has been, it’s just a matter of not making really anything good or funny, and this movie is hands down one of the worst SpongeBob products to come out since season 7, the season where SpongeBob shamed Gary while about to get eaten by a vile monstrosity.
For all its flaws, at least Sponge on the Run had really nice animation and colors. This new movie’s animation looks like it came from a bad video game. It’s not awful though. The live action editing on the other hand, is unforgivable. I refuse to believe it’s real.
I would've assumed that awful scene where Wanda Sykes' head is key framed on a child's body was probably unfinished at the time the movie leaked but seeing the official release still keep that YTP ass editing insults me more
@@EggFighterXB-I guess so. He had a pretty successful psychology session with Dr. Marco and now he's still Ballin' with his younger brother at the court
I don't understand why they had to edit her face on there, they could've just had the child actor there. I can't imagine being that little girl, she probably always wanted to be in a SpongeBob movie, she finally gets her chance and only for her face to be covered
I remember watching a video by Schaffical production talking about the SpongeBob play And that plot was about SpongeBob, Sandy, and Patrick trying to save Banki Bottom from a volcano. Which sounds a lot interesting from a SpongeBob movie and I wish we gotten that instead of this
I saw the leaked version. I thought the animation was pretty good, but it got a little funky sometimes... I mean it looked like it was actually unfinished. Well it _was_ leaked early, so maybe it literally WAS unfinished. When Sandy "got hit with the DeviantArt ray", I didn't even think of inflation, I just thought "Oh ha it's her hibernation design". They clearly spent the budget on tracking the robot lady's head to her body. Holy heck did it look good. It really looked like her head belonged there. That makes me think the poor tracking in the flashback bit was supposed to be funny. When it ended, I was just like "Welp, it was a movie I guess".
Well, Sandy's a small animal and her whole body swelling up due to the venom makes sense because if you're bit by something venomous, the area will swell up and that area only because we're so big, and Sandy's body is a lot smaller
Hell, I would argue that the Woody Woodpecker Goes To Camp movie had better quality than this. Although it still doesn’t make sense to me on why they did a sequel to a movie that was probably the reason why Woody Woodpecker doesn’t appear as a meet and greet character at Universal Orlando anymore or in Hollywood until recently for their 60th anniversary of the Hollywood park.
@@Princess_-gp3ep Only in the Florida parks. Apparently he still does meet and greets at Universal Studios Japan and still has a presence at the Port Aventura theme park in Spain. Although they could bring him back for Universal Orlando’s 35th anniversary, but I think that opening Epic Universe would be a far bigger priority for Universal than just an anniversary.
This movie was the worst movie my brother watched from start to finish! 7:11 I quote from my aforementioned brother, "White woman jump scare!" 7:23 another quote from my brother, "the writers poorly disguised fetish!" (Also the amount of times he said, "plot convenience" is shockingly high!)
It genuinely feels like this franchise, within the last 5 years, has quickly gone from quality to quantity. And this movie shows that. HARD. In the late 2000's/ early 2010's, even though they weren't that good, you could tell that they still tried. Now, it's like "fUnNY fACeS" and spin-off after spin-off. If this is what they consider the 25th anniversary celebration, I'm going to vomit. Yeah, he turned 25 years old back in May.
7:44 as someone who has a fetish, there are times "the thing" is just supposed to be a joke, but there are A LOT of blatent examples of fetishism that gets pass the censors. The issue is gauging how much focus they put on "the thing." I've seen entire episodes from shows just dedicated to farting and stuff like that as massive plot points.
@@tjh6678 I can't believe that people looked at that THING in the storyboards and said, "This is hysterical, I can't wait to animate and voice act this out." I can't really judge since I'm into weird shit, but it's meant for kids. It's just so egregious..
Some franchises are just so popular that it doesn't matter how bad it is. people just throw their money at things like that. Whether it's a cartoon video game or a movie franchise, none of them are safe from this
Look, I really, but REALLY like absurd humor. But seriously, over the top, cartoony Wanda Sykes that has fish-fetish? Even slapping her face onto child? Well, Monty Python, start taking notes!

I haven’t had this much fun with a Cartoonshi video in a long time. There’s a chaos in this video that’s been missing from recent videos of yours for a while and I’m glad to say that the chaos has finally returned.
If there’s anything to say about this movie, it’s that it’s honestly the first time I felt that SpongeBob tapped into the aura of really bad kids entertainment. You know, stuff like that Woody Woodpecker movie or the Alvin and the Chipmunks films. Even if the recent episodes have their issues, there’s a palpable sense that the team behind them is having fun and are given more creative freedom in how they have made them. None of that comes across in this movie and it really feels like the worst possible version of what SpongeBob could be.
Apparently there’s two Woody Woodpecker films unless if you’re talking about the “Goes to Camp” one or the 2017 movie. In my opinion, the camp film was just mediocre while the first movie was genuinely terrible.
Tbh when I was a lot younger and saw the second SpongeBob movie that I forgot the name of, I had always wanted a spinoff movie involving Mr. Krabs’s past. And that only increased more as his backstory became more and more convoluted with different things being revealed. Would’ve been nice to see a final confirmation to everything (even if it would probably retcon some things) However, given how they messed up Sandy, a character who is arguably more interesting than Eugene ever was to the fandom… I don’t think I wanna see what they’d do with him anymore.
I'm going to be really honest, the villain had amazing hair and a very nice outfit but for some reason they ruined it by making her be an human head with a robot body and turn her into a fish just by entering her pet fish's mouth, that's beyond stupid
The fact that she "like-likes" the fish isnt even the scariest part. *She kidnaps them by shoving them in her coat and stuffing them in her drawer to cuddle in the middle of the night.*
What you just said, alongside the movie itself, is just a bit of proof that the writing, VA & whatever else film/TV unions being exclusive to Southern California is a BAD IDEA.
Something I always find fascinating about SpongeBob is how the show unlike the Fairly Oddparents it doesn't add new main characters and despite that the show rarely explores new dynamics between its main cast. A big problem I have with SpongeBob is that characters like Sandy don't have well defined relationships with most of the main cast.
Everyone all thought that the third spongebob movie: sponge on the run is the most hated/worst SpongeBob movie of all time. However sandy cheeks movie official dethrones recently for worst hated SpongeBob so far.

Don't let her get anywhere near inflatin' foot ticklin' feces sniffin' crap in the future 😭
It's easy: just have some creepy ass executives lead you around.
The worst part is that the villain is played by Wanda Sykes, who CAN act. She’s just really awful in this movie for some reason.
She looks like that BET villain from Boondocks
Obviously the director doesn't give damn about acting quality, so I imagine Sykes was like, "You know what? They're only interested in slapping my name on the project for marketing purposes, so why don't I just put in the bare minimum amount of effort and get an easy paycheck?"
Most likely Extremely bad direction
Just like Tom & Jerry movie did
@Emberilliance even some of the best actors can't make miracles out of a horrible script
The fact that this movie got leaked in its entirety, everyone said it was awful, and they didn’t make a single change to it before release is the most questionable thing in existence. Massive L, Nickelodeon.
At this point they will just never make a good Spongebob movie again. The writers need to change.
All of this with me not knowing of its existence until right now.
@@_Doctor_14 Better yet, they need to just end the series!
They could have gone the route of „Bikini Bottom got abducted by an Aquarium to put them as an attraction“,
Wtf is this about „women wants to pet fish“
*woman wants to get freaky with fishs
Seriously the beginning that’s what I thought
They should hire you to replace the writer that inflated Sandy.
They both have the same thing in common. Smelling poo 💩 🤢
@@NoParkingBerryCynical Reviews never did a video on Pinocchio
@@corcortinez5361 I wasn't naming Cynical Reviews in particular. I was saying "cynical reviewers" (note how I wrote it as an improper noun) in general without naming specific ones.
Yeesh, even the movie knows it’s shit
Didn’t even know this movie came out
I found out about it because I downloaded a random movie from pirate bay
Same
I thought it was sponge on the run
It's because the movie came out Friday night
I didn't know that it had actually existed
Without SpongeBob, Nickelodeon would have absolutely nothing.
@@hopegalaxyWhat About Loud House?
5:19 So shes not only into average evil villain stuff but also into doing criminal stuff with sea animals? Yep she should be arrested
I think we all owe sponge on the run an apology 😢
Owe*
that movie was so cute
If I were to pick either Sponge on the run or this movie, I'd pick Sponge on the run

Blink twice if you are in trouble, Patchy. 😔
Another reason why this movie is bad is because the director Liza Johnson NEVER worked on anything Spongebob related except this movie. She’s never even worked in the field of animation. For example:
Stephen Hillenburg worked on Rocko’s Modern Life and directed the 1st movie
Paul Tibbuit is a storyboard artist and directed the 2nd movie and was the show runner of SpongeBob from 2005-2015
Tim Hill worked on the show from 2005-2007 as a story editor and even helped develop the show and directed the 3rd movie
Edit:2005-2007
The thing that this movie will be remembered for is the fact that it was leaked!
Same here. They really should just bring something we haven’t seen in a while instead, like The Patakis spinoff series we were going to get after Hey Arnold’s original run, or even an As Told By Ginger continuation, or shows like Invader Zim getting another chance.
ANYTHING BUT THE SPONGE AND THE KID WITH THE BIG FAMILY, PLEASE!!

#TheLoudHouseMoreLikeTheQuietHouse
and several of the more "off-color" scenes. The manure scene and the feet scene.
Spongebob scat fetish.
Just like the group chat
5:56 that's true SpongeBob used to be still energetic and childish and stupid but he wasstill a little bit smart and he would help Patrick with things but in the newer episodes he's a lot stupider and more babyish.
What is it with nickelodeon and shoving so many kink themes into their movies? It's not even subtle either.
Also the rattle snake having human teeth is super cursed. The entire movie is super cursed.
0:03
I think the animators are just very horny. They make a dance episode and they can’t help but put in a thicc twerking fish.
This company is ruj by pedophiles, I swear...
I’m pretty sure the villain and her plan is some kind of stand in for the attitudes of Nickelodeon Executives.
>opens the video
>Sponge Bob smelling sht
Oh boy, this one will be one of those
Wanda Sykes was a better villain in that one episode of Bubble Guppies where she played a witch. As a kid, I actually loved that episode, but here, man she really went to new lows
Her old low was replacing MADtv with a show that lasted a year.
Oh, cool, it’s you
Ooh ur his subscriber too?
The only franchise I can think of that disrespects it's creators legacy is Star Wars.
And unfortunately... I don't see the show entering another resurgence.
@@hopegalaxy Don't forget Thomas
For all its flaws, at least Sponge on the Run had really nice animation and colors. This new movie’s animation looks like it came from a bad video game. It’s not awful though.
The live action editing on the other hand, is unforgivable. I refuse to believe it’s real.
I would've assumed that awful scene where Wanda Sykes' head is key framed on a child's body was probably unfinished at the time the movie leaked but seeing the official release still keep that YTP ass editing insults me more

God damn. When the George Lopez Show, a sitcom, can do effects like superimposing adult heads on children's bodies better than a movie...
Nah, That ain't SpongeBob, That's freakybob.
2:50
What the hell is that flying head? No way that's in the movie. Megamind Rules had better quality than this!
And the worst part is that the bar for that is incredibly low.
The fact it’s meant to be serious makes it even more harder to take seriously
Hell, I would argue that the Woody Woodpecker Goes To Camp movie had better quality than this. Although it still doesn’t make sense to me on why they did a sequel to a movie that was probably the reason why Woody Woodpecker doesn’t appear as a meet and greet character at Universal Orlando anymore or in Hollywood until recently for their 60th anniversary of the Hollywood park.
@@thedrewster0408 Woody woodpecker still appears during meet and greets but only for rare events.
So THIS is where FreakyBob came from.

It’s the Spongebob movie our parents thought the first one was.
Apparently there’s two Woody Woodpecker films unless if you’re talking about the “Goes to Camp” one or the 2017 movie. In my opinion, the camp film was just mediocre while the first movie was genuinely terrible.
Sue Nahmee is just Deborah Leevil from the Boondocks.
My thoughts exactly
That poop sniffing joke is the same in Pinnochio. What's with movie writers thinking kids want literal shit sniffing in their films?
Tbh when I was a lot younger and saw the second SpongeBob movie that I forgot the name of, I had always wanted a spinoff movie involving Mr. Krabs’s past. And that only increased more as his backstory became more and more convoluted with different things being revealed. Would’ve been nice to see a final confirmation to everything (even if it would probably retcon some things)
However, given how they messed up Sandy, a character who is arguably more interesting than Eugene ever was to the fandom… I don’t think I wanna see what they’d do with him anymore.
