I was recently asked “ you only go camping two or three times A year, why do you fuss over gear so much?” I said” you go on vacation once a year? Do you stay at a crummy hotel? Of course not”. Good gear makes the time you spend in the woods more enjoyable ESPECIALLY if you look forward to it all winter. Love your channel, keep up the great work.
That's done to save weight and packing size, which is important when you're backpacking. They make the Frontcountry Bed which is square cut and synthetic if you don't mind the size and just want something you can car camp with.
Thank you sir😂😂, awesome bag, I don't need it myself but I like watching. I get your sense of humour for the record, congrats for reaching 200000 subscribers! You must be quite well liked or hated, either way !!😂
I like the design but the "Dri-Down" is a "NO GO" to me (and always will be). I do use sleeping bags 365/365 since 22 years now; while "Dri-Down" is a great insulation superior to "untreated down" in every aspects, is not even close for the "easy maintenance" of the best "nowadays synthetic fibers" (i purposely omit any specific "name/brand" - SOME ARE FAR BETTER THAN OTHERS -). Synthetic fibers, in the last years, are improved A LOT (i would dare to say 30-35% better than 10 years ago in "warm/weight ratio" and AT LEAST "70% more durable"). The concept design of this bag is outstanding, in fact: I DO USE "NORMAL MUMMY DESIGN "WITHOUT USING THE ZIP" (the reason is simple: "if you roll your weight EVERY DAY on the bag"; you will trow it away in around 6 months). So i do use a normal (close cells) mat + sleeping bag "as a blanket". The sleeping bag that i am using right now, weight 2kg, cost around 200 euro (it is an "hard use/reinforced material") and i slept in it at minus 18 Celsius with "merino underwear only"; i was "cozy", not even close to "the limit" (my limit in that specific bag - it is something personal / maybe some of you will freeze to death in the same set-up -). In the winter i can wash my sleeping bag in a river, than use "a net" (like fishing net) to "centrifugate it" (spinning it around); it will be completely dry in few hours in a cloudy day (in summer under the sun 20-30 mins are enough for 97% dryness"). Down?! YOU CAN NOT WASH IT IN A RIVER. PERIOD. You can not even wash it at home, "if you don't have a GOOD DRYER". Dri-Down is "an in between in this regard" (i mean "maintenance side"): surely better than down but worse than synthetic; it is something to keep in mind. I can not comment about "the longevity" of Dri-Down, because i used it for about tree months and than gifted the bag. On the other hand, "nowadays synthetic" is amazingly durable. P.S. Please don't be harsh, if you have a different point of view, this is just my preference, based on my "over 20 years experiences"; if you like "down" (and you can manage it) it is great (it surely have some advantages over synthetic...).
It has some great features...BUT...Mummy bags suck. Going to a rectangular bag that's to big for you is like moving up to 3v steel, You soon realize what you've been missing!
Let's be honest, if you have back issues, temperature control issues or problems sleeping on a camping trip, this could be the step that is needed to help everyone enjoy the outdoors. Bad nights sleep equals bay next day, it's that simple.
Hi there ... I will never say enough thank you .... you made me discover what I was looking for a long time .... I am a long distance trekker and after looking your video I just purchease one ( a few minutes ago) again thank you... Sincerely yours Luc from south of France !!!
Unreal bag for sure. I guarantee I could twist that baby up while sleeping though lol I always wake up almost completely out of my sleeping bag. Thanks for sharing this my friend, I also think it would be the bomb for hammocks
When I first saw it, I was thinking “This is going to be gimmicky crap.” But after I saw that dude show it off, explain the idea, I have to admit, I’m pretty impressed. It’s kinda like a combination of a sleeping bag/quilt system. Best of both worlds. I’ll definitely be saving up for this. Good lookin’ out, dude! This one is a winner. In the last four months I’ve dropped $600 on 3 knives. Not the norm, but I did it! So a couple hundred for a good sleep system is well worth it to me.
I have the back country bed and front country bed as someone who gets claustrophobic i love this thing. May not be the lightest, but comfort for the weight is fine with me
A $200 bag? Wow, people are sheltered if they think that's expensive. It's an investment towards comfort. Heck I had to shell out nearly a thousand bucks for a -40 down bag that would fit my very burly 6'4" frame. Thanks Chris fro bringing this to our attention, looks like a great bag.
Now when it comes to using this in a hammock in colder weather... wonder if its fine to use as is (pad in pouch, inside hammock), or if would need under-quilt? I'm thinking you wouldn't (pending you're not doing sub-freezing snow hammock) since you have the pad to provide insulation beneath you. When it comes to hammock camping I'd love to know how this bad boy stacks up against the "Nemo Strato Loft bag w/ Nemo Cosmo sleeping pad" and the "Outdoor Vitals Mummy Pod Hammock Sleeping Bag System".
Intriguing, I am interested in your hammock opinion with this item. It will take me a lot to drag me out of a sleeping bag, could you do a double review of the bag and the bivy, plus what sleeping mat you are using. Beer time!
Hey Cris I bought the guide gear -14 bag bag on your recommendation OMG u said it was warm way to warm. Looking for something for Michigan fall what u recommendation.
ANOTHER VOLCANO HAS ERUPTED !!! MARK MY WORDS YELLOWSTONE WILL GO WITHIN 10 YEARS U ALL BETTER PREPARE FOR IT OR PERISH ! SCARY TIMES WE ARE IN RIGHT NOW ! CONGRATS ON 2OOK!
PREPAREDMIND101 what about ur eyez? Def need a full out fireman style mask if that stuff got in ur eyes ud be toast. U should do some reviews on things related to surviving a volcano specifically I'd watch every single one of em. Still good content on this video . But jus sayin 😎 I been here since u started! Congrats on 200k an cheers to 300k! 😏
Anonymous Maximus yes it will eventually happen. Of course ive been hearing it since 79. And 88 reasons why the world will end in 88 then there was a mistake so it was 89, than 99. Y2k, 2012 mayan calendar. When i was in 6th grade we were heading back into an ice age, than it was global warming now its climate change....remember the 2007 hurricanes that were going to get worse every year! Yep My advice is get the New York Public Library Book of Chronologies and go to the Natural Disasters Section and Read. It may be that, but something else might get you. Fear mongering is part of the great theater
Man, you must get blasted by ignorant folks on cost. I love that you find great gear. I was waiting for you to say it was $300-400. I think $200 is s great price for that design. Great video--going to check this out.
200$.... man when you said expensive I was thinking a lot more. I confiscated the sleep system when I left the army (400$ +) and this looks like the sleep number of the the bag world. This is moving to the top of my want list!
Sierra Designs makes some pretty good stuff..... I've owned several of their products over the years and really like them. Their down mummy bags are freaking awesome too..... unfortunately down isn't really the way to go when you're out in a yak and getting wet is just the name of the game.
The backcountry bivy cover with this bag should extend the temp range by about 10°... and add versatility. Give it a try and tell us what you think. Appreciate all the work you put into these videos!
Probably great for side sleepers. Does it have mosquito netting or is that the bivey?? Is the air mattress self inflatable like the other ones you showed?? Thank you oh great man of the Outdoors for showing this to us misguided people.
I call this a tease. You are telling how cool it is but not really in depth showing how cool it is. I think it looks super cool though miss your vids Chris. Haven't been watching all to often cuz I spend too much when I do. But would like to start watching more regularly again.
Just got a hammock, tested it out in the garden, didn't last long before a bailed out to the normal bed . It was all the bags fault, I definitely think Mr tanner is right again . Hammock review be nice Chris?
houses are waaaay more comfortable, mike. trust me, i've spent a good deal of time outside of houses. if you can be in a house or a sleeping bag, the house is a no brainer. for sure.
Would you say this bag would work well for bigger guys? I'm ok w/The price tag but if it's built for the average guy then it's not for me.. So would Will be comfortable in it?
Great video. Happy to know the bag is fantastic. I've seen some thru hikers use it and I wondered. ". telling you are wrong, so you can go correct yourself.". Ha ha ha ha . . . Looking forward to $50 budget bag as well.
Interesting concept. Thanks for showing us this, Chris. Of course, for our fall and late fall mountain hunting trips, I'd need one that's good down to low teens.
Was going to get a MMSS next. Now I’m not sure. And anyone who says this bag is too expensive - We’ll a NEW MMSS on Amazon is going for $258.00. And personally, when it comes to sleeping bags I don’t want to sleep in someone else’s sweat, so I would have to buy new.
I was recently asked “ you only go camping two or three times A year, why do you fuss over gear so much?”
I said” you go on vacation once a year? Do you stay at a crummy hotel? Of course not”. Good gear makes the time you spend in the woods more enjoyable ESPECIALLY if you look forward to it all winter.
Love your channel, keep up the great work.
Except it’s still a mummy bag. Restricting my legs and shit. Make it the same width at the shoulders all the wall down and I’ll buy it.
That's done to save weight and packing size, which is important when you're backpacking. They make the Frontcountry Bed which is square cut and synthetic if you don't mind the size and just want something you can car camp with.
They make it, Frontcountry Bed Sierra Designs 35
Cars, Cats and Cannibis nailed it on the head. Frontcountry is for you. Still too confining? Buy their down quilt even more versatile.
Thank you sir😂😂, awesome bag, I don't need it myself but I like watching. I get your sense of humour for the record, congrats for reaching 200000 subscribers! You must be quite well liked or hated, either way !!😂
That foot vent made me moist.
scarrence wow

I had one of their tents for a decade, it was amazing.
You've really sold this kit, it sounds brilliant. How did you find it in the hammock?
Thank you sir for letting us know. We will start saving our money immediately. 🤣
I have the back country bed and front country bed as someone who gets claustrophobic i love this thing. May not be the lightest, but comfort for the weight is fine with me
Sleeping bags are not for me. Far too confined and restricted especially in the legs. That mummy shape, how can people sleep like that?
You just may be on to something as far as hammocks go. Been camping in hammocks for years wish $200.00 was all I had in gear hey but no regrets.
Thank you sir for letting us know. I will start saving my money immediately. Thank you.
This may be the answer for us side sleepers
Definitely is.
Im super interested in this. Side sleeper gang lol
@Tom Claringtom i don't know, tom. why are you so fvcked up?
A $200 bag? Wow, people are sheltered if they think that's expensive. It's an investment towards comfort. Heck I had to shell out nearly a thousand bucks for a -40 down bag that would fit my very burly 6'4" frame.

We live in a Walmart world.
Thank you sir for letting us know, ill start saving immediately.
Hey Chris, like you're chanel, judt one question, what stops a snake, from crawling in that hole st the bottom of that thing.
Machete?
Condor iron path... They stole your design and failed hard
I like the features back support is what we all need. This is perfect for colder climates. Comfort is key.
Thank you I will start saving my money , thank you
Thank you sir may I have another.
I'm in the mummy bag on my bed it sucks
with certain things you get what you pay for
Thanx I guess. Not fond of mummies.
Thank you Sir! Will get a loan and buy one ASAP. LOL (Thanks Chris!)
$200-$300 is not expensive for a good quality down bag. Is yours the down or the synthetic version Chris?
Now when it comes to using this in a hammock in colder weather... wonder if its fine to use as is (pad in pouch, inside hammock), or if would need under-quilt? I'm thinking you wouldn't (pending you're not doing sub-freezing snow hammock) since you have the pad to provide insulation beneath you.

Higher list than Jessica? You have my attention. Do you know if they have an xl version? Normal size bags just don’t work for me
Higher than the Jessica list??............. MUST BUY!!!!! Haha!! Good review!!
Well how is it in the hammock ?
A decent nights sleep in the outdoors is critical to enjoying the time. Why buy junk and be miserable? Congrats on 200K subs.
Try reviewing the Snugpak cave...
Sierra Designs makes some pretty good stuff..... I've owned several of their products over the years and really like them. Their down mummy bags are freaking awesome too..... unfortunately down isn't really the way to go when you're out in a yak and getting wet is just the name of the game.

So you like it then 😉
Wish it went down to 0°
Just got a hammock, tested it out in the garden, didn't last long before a bailed out to the normal bed . It was all the bags fault, I definitely think Mr tanner is right again . Hammock review be nice Chris?
Well said!
I like it. Not having a zipper to jam with fabric is great, especially in the middle of the night when I have to take a wizz :-)
Thanks Brother Chris
Ain't that the truth. I didn't what I was missing till I went from using a Jess-x to a Vengful-1.
Ok
YOU FORGOT 2 FEATURES ANOTHER LAYER MAYBE SURFBOARD AND OUTBOARD MOTOR TO TRAVEL ALL OCEANS WHILE SLEEPING , IM DRUNK HA HA.
Holy shit Batman that is freakin awsome!! it's the sleeping bag to rule over all other sleeping bags.
Perfect for a hamic
I've wanted one of these bags for four years...one day it will be mine...one day...
Chris, I find it hilarious how people get all rowdy over the prices of gear, this piece looks absolutely amazing. Thanks for what u do man
I know exactly how you feel about your sense of humor going over peoples heads ;)
The front country the cheap version of this bag was so fantastic that I bought three sizes a queen a double and a single.
This guy is hilarious and takes himself too over-the-top serious, but he does have a taste for good stuff, and obviously the means to get it.
I am interested in how it does in a hammock.
Outstanding Vid! Ordered two after watching this morning... Thanks Bro! Be safe, check six.
Can't afford it now just bought a house
houses are waaaay more comfortable, mike. trust me, i've spent a good deal of time outside of houses. if you can be in a house or a sleeping bag, the house is a no brainer. for sure.

Definitely don't have to worry about finding the zipper to get out to pee in the middle of night
Hey Chris, I noted you have the cheapo tripod from Amazon Basics, I also have that one! I love it!
Chris I have one of these and it is truly awesome in a hammock with pad. I'm with you on you get what you pay for.
Great video. Happy to know the bag is fantastic. I've seen some thru hikers use it and I wondered.
". telling you are wrong, so you can go correct yourself.". Ha ha ha ha . . .
Looking forward to $50 budget bag as well.
I love how you do your videos. They have personality in them. If that's the right word to use. Either way keep it up your doing great!
Interesting concept. Thanks for showing us this, Chris. Of course, for our fall and late fall mountain hunting trips, I'd need one that's good down to low teens.
Brother, you hit all my issues....gonna buy!
I thought I didn't need another sleeping bag but you got me thinking. That does look really comfortable. Great preliminary review.
For whatever reasons I can’t find it online. Sounds awesome
Thanks for doing great reviews chris hopefully this ones a jessica list
Was going to get a MMSS next. Now I’m not sure. And anyone who says this bag is too expensive - We’ll a NEW MMSS on Amazon is going for $258.00. And personally, when it comes to sleeping bags I don’t want to sleep in someone else’s sweat, so I would have to buy new.
Still have mine. That's deep winter stuff and not for packing.
I was sold on the bag in the previous video , thank you Chris !
This bag kind of reminds me of my nemo salsa in a few ways. Very cool looking design with a lot of functionality! Another great video Chris!
60 degrees isnt a great test.
Do they work good at lower temps/there one thats good for below freezing?
Great review tho
Looks like it would be great for a hammock, curious to see how your. Review is after doing so.
That would make it so much easier getting into my Hennessey hammock with the velcro opening
Humor? I’ve been getting my feelings hurt all this time. Now I feel better.
The bag looks comfortable. I can see buying this if you’re someone who does some serious camping.
Yes sir I will start saving my money . very cool bag! cool concept, great review!
Prediction is the budget a snugpak?
Thank you sir. I shall start saving my money.
Another good vid. Thanks
It's a bit expensive. Looks very very good though.
Awesome bag. Imma start saving today.
Awesome! I'm going to buy one of those systems and pair it with a Kymit Static V Luxe sleep pad. Thanks for sharing and for the video.
I love my Static V and may pair this bag with it too. I can’t use a hammock most of the time and the Kymit has been a dream
Nice bag , but 1st kiss, don’t know about that!
That thing is frickin' awesome! Take my money!!
That whole system looks very tempting
how wide is it? i'm guessing I won't fit...
What temp is it rated for?
Jessica approved?
