I miss Shadow’s character from 06, as hated as the game was. Shadows not an overly edgy version of Sonic, he’s just a more serious, mature Sonic, but that doesn’t mean he and Sonic don’t share traits when it comes to characterization
Considering how rough Shadow in Prime is, this is a considerably nice change of pace for me. He easily could've just continue to scold Sonic for being careless again, but actually helps Sonic. He acts like he's a know-it-all in Prime (at least to me), and doesn't realize that both of them had made mistakes in the past, like Shadow almost destroying the human race. But here, he swallows his pride and stoops to Sonic's level. *I'm not crying, YOU'RE crying!*

I love this so much because it demonstrates exactly who Shadow really is. He's not Sonic's edgy dark counterpart who totes big guns and is too cool for feelings. He's a nuanced character who can be a bit tough to get along with sure, but he DOES care. And even if they bicker and fight a lot, he DOES genuinely care about Sonic. He's not angry with Sonic for failing; he's angry because Sonic never listens to him and this time it has genuinely devastating consequences that they just have to swallow. But once he sees just how much it's killing Sonic inside- once he sees that Sonic finally understands and doesn't just acknowledge his failure, but is hurting just as much as Shadow is- that's when all of his anger evaporates. Because Shadow's anger has always come second to his empathy for others.
I love how you made their lines feel harsh yet natural. Sonic doesn’t really cry too much. I wonder if it was a little tricky to keep him in character despite that. I think Sonic getting emotional can work as long as it’s done tastefully and this dub is a GREAT example of that. 💙

Sonic in Sonic Prime is practically just different a lot of the time. And some people realize that but don’t put it together. Sonic has lost everything, completely but not at the same time. His home as green hill, his friends, Tails, Rouge, Knuckles, and Amy, even Big and Froggy, and he has a chance to bring it back but he’s wishing to do it peacefully and not by force. He’s losing it, because he was constantly told that he would probably fail by his own friends and those exact words really pushed his mental state. I like that this comic dub makes him seem more human, but it’s almost too human. But it makes sense. And that’s why I like it, Sonic doesn’t have to be this guy constantly smiling and racing to an end goal as fast as possible with no hesitation. He knows that his friends could probably be in danger, he wants to bring back his home and his friends, but he’s losing them, slowly but surely, so he’s stuck. And Shadow yelling is probably pushing him more but I like that shadow just embraces him rather than hitting him.

You know, this actually has me stunned... Damn the emotions in the voice, the rage in Shadow's VA, the crying voice in Sonic's VA sounded all too real. And that hyperventilating sounded real as well. I could say I'm very impressed by how they voice acted this comic, it's makes a really good impression of Sonic about what would happen if he failed. I'm just AMAZED...
Even in canon Shadow has a soft spot over Sonic, if Sega could allow more realistic feelings in Sonic, I can imagine a possible scene like this. In Sonic Prime Shadow actually could've died trying to save Sonic, so in actions Shadow shows a lot! and Sonic tried to be funny and positive about save his "friends" to be betrayed. But Shadow stayed with him anyways.
This is practically cannon to me, it makes the aftermath of Nine's betrayal ever more heartbreaking and Shadow actually right for once despite the fact that restoring the Prism shards might erase the other universes. Hyperventilation or hyperventilating happens when someone has a panic attack or extreme stress and they can’t control their breathing it feels like they are suffocating the best way to help them is to tell them in a calm voice to breathe in and out and or tell them to breathe along with you in calm manner
This dub is incredibly well done! The fact that ONE person managed to sound like two completely different characters, AND managed to an incredible job voicing a panic attack is insanely impressive. I really hope there's something even remotely similar to this at the start of season 3 because it would just make the whole situation seem a lot for real. Again, fantastic job!

Personally in general, I don't actually think I've ever seen sonic cry in media, or well, official media(?), showing some type of emotion for his friends other than his positive cocky self. At least to my knowledge. Personally I like seeing heroic characters who are mostly positive have situations like this, where for once instead of keeping his chill, he actually breaks down or has a panic attack due to a situation like sonics in. Relatably I'm someone who get's panic attacks easily along with anxiety attacks so this kinda comforted me.

This is exactly how I want season 3 to start. Minus the panic attack. I also imagine Sonic still making quips like has has before. But this time he does so as a coping mechanism over his trauma, instead of it being witty banter. I also imagine that Sonic all together stops making decisions for himself and instead follows everything Shadow tells him to do to the letter. Because he can't trust himself to make the right decisions. I usually don't like it when a charcter that's so happy is knocked down into deep depression, (See Ruby from RWBY Volume 9). But I think that this could work REALLY well for Sonic, as long has he keeps his "Can do" attitude, just with a more somber tone behind it.

He’s hurting, he’s angry, he’s frustrated and he’s lashing out but the moment he sees sonic breaking down he just stops in his tracks and is kind. It’s good to see this is sort of being brought back in official sonic media

Poor Sonic, 🥺the poor guy has been through a lot and now after the whole argument with Nine, I can definitely imagine this pushing even Sonic’s limits. Good thing Shadow was there to comfort him. Loving the shows take on these two dynamic big brother and little brother.😊 I actually hope this does happen, maybe not the panic attack but Shadow comforting him, after realising how much this actually hurt Sonic. Despite Netlfix inevitably forcing Sonic Prime to stay "Child-friendly" while robbing us from this kind of well earned seriousness from both Shadow & Sonic, I'm glad there are still those with talent like yours to give us what they never could. 🖤👏
Shadow is like that edgy older brother that calls him out half the time. But deep down he does care about him. .....also a note for the future, if I'm right about this being the dynamic that happens at the end of Sonic 3 movie. Then damn.
This dub is so good at portraying the emotions of both Shadow and Sonic, and Sega really missed the opportunity to show that Sonic isn't just the hero who saves the day, that even heroes can have their vulnerable moments- I can totally see Sonic having panic attacks in canon and the VA portrayed it really well 😭

Sonic was the one that caused the paradox prism to split into shards, creating different variants of his friends and Eggman, Regardless if it was an accident or not. Plus, he put trust in Nine, a variant of Tails, which led to Nine stealing the shards for himself to keep him and the shatter verse alive.
Even though I doubt Sega would ever show Sonic's vulnerable state, it would make absolute sense if did feel super upset and utterly betrayed, because this would show that sonic the hedgehog actually feels sad sometimes, that sometimes he's weak and vulnerable, but he would always have someone to support him through this moment of weakness and would give a healthy message that showing your vulnerable side to those who genuinely care for you, isn't a weakness, it's okay to show when you're hurting, because hiding it never solves the problem. :)
Shadow knows the pain of being broken a failure of truly losing everything that's why he's built different after failing he doesn't want to allow anyone else to know what that pain is
You know if you really think about it, Shadow might have some experience with this because of his trauma with Maria’s death. I know that he has terrible, painful flashbacks sometimes and maybe he does the same thing to calm himself down. He obviously knew what was happening to Sonic when he said “Don’t do that” and me personally, I wouldn’t recognize hyperventilating if I saw it/heard it. So he might have experience. This comic was really good too. The acting was spot on.😁💙🖤
Just remember to breathe in and out slowly, Sonic. We've all made mistakes that we regret to this day but in the end we learn from them, but everything is going to be okay.
I never seen sonic crying. But thats really good idea. Considering Sonic got betrayed and realizing he couldn't save his friends, its hardly impossible not to cry.

Haven't checked in here for a hot minute and I gotta say...the emotion was just captured perfectly for this dub...and I say epic all around. Also...Nine needs to get checked....ASAP.
The last time we ever see Sonic actually being emotionally vulnerable like this is during Sonic X where he turns Dark Sonic. In Japanese version, there's barely even music and Sonic tries to hide it with a smile on his face but when Dark Sonic appears, it's the only moment where he pushes his emotions into destruction.
I feel bad for sonic bro he doesn't deserve this, I mean he literally shattered his whole world and trying his best to fix it but bro... I think he had enough than more he could chew.
I related instantly when Sonic hyperventilated. I did it once after I made a bad choice and the consequences rushed in my mind. I felt like passing out so this really hit home.😢
I felt that too, the worst was when me and my family buried my Dad. I felt so sick like I was going to pass out or get really really sick. I felt like I could have done better to keep him around longer even though I knew it wasn’t in my control.
As someone who’s had panic attacks in the past, I’m so glad to see how Shadow handled the situation with such care. It’s not easy having a panic attack, and the hyperventilating makes it so much worse, and add everything Sonic went through and the fact that he’s fully aware that the fault is all his…good Chaos, he needs a break.. We have never seen sonic started crying or having depression emotions like this ever (nor even mario) and even though this isn’t canon, just seeing him like this its like his first time having such strong, heavy, deep sad emotions that it makes him start hyperventilating. And you seriously cant blame for feeling like this because he made one big dangerous mistake by hitting the shard and have all his friends live in different multiverses which he tries to fix it the best he can, but then ends up making another mistake from trusting someone and making him feel so stupid because he shouldn’t listen to shadow. Seriously I would be crying just as badly as he is right now if i was in a situation like this. (Sorry for the long blah blah blah comment about this comic 💀)
There are only two times in sonic history that he cried. Once when he failed to save his uncle chuck and twice when he left earth and had to leave Chris behind. And then technically, there was a third time where he was stuck on a boat, and he had a full-blown panic attack.

A flaw in sonic is that he is made by Sega to be flawless and positive. It is okay to be vulnerable, we as humans need to know that. Shadow is misunderstood as a careless edgelord when he does have compassion. He is not a heartless asshole, he does care about others, he just has his own way of showing it, and it is not as radiant as Sonic’s.
I hope something like this happens in the beginning of Part 3 of Sonic Prime, cause the last scene we saw with Part 2 was that Sonic put his hands up to his face as if he was about to cry, and Idk, but to me, a scenario like this would be likely cause it would set the tone for Part 3.
A shame that Sega doesn't want Sonic to ever be this upset and vulnerable because this would make for a very compelling start to the next season.

This dub is so good at portraying the emotions of both Shadow and Sonic, and Sega really missed the opportunity to show that Sonic isn't just the hero who saves the day, that even heroes can have their vulnerable moments- I can totally see Sonic having panic attacks in canon and the VA portrayed it really well 😭

Sonic was the one that caused the paradox prism to split into shards, creating different variants of his friends and Eggman, Regardless if it was an accident or not. Plus, he put trust in Nine, a variant of Tails, which led to Nine stealing the shards for himself to keep him and the shatter verse alive.

Even though I doubt Sega would ever show Sonic's vulnerable state, it would make absolute sense if did feel super upset and utterly betrayed, because this would show that sonic the hedgehog actually feels sad sometimes, that sometimes he's weak and vulnerable, but he would always have someone to support him through this moment of weakness and would give a healthy message that showing your vulnerable side to those who genuinely care for you, isn't a weakness, it's okay to show when you're hurting, because hiding it never solves the problem. :)

Shadow knows the pain of being broken a failure of truly losing everything that's why he's built different after failing he doesn't want to allow anyone else to know what that pain is
You know if you really think about it, Shadow might have some experience with this because of his trauma with Maria’s death. I know that he has terrible, painful flashbacks sometimes and maybe he does the same thing to calm himself down. He obviously knew what was happening to Sonic when he said “Don’t do that” and me personally, I wouldn’t recognize hyperventilating if I saw it/heard it. So he might have experience.

Just remember to breathe in and out slowly, Sonic. We've all made mistakes that we regret to this day but in the end we learn from them, but everything is going to be okay.

The last time we ever see Sonic actually being emotionally vulnerable like this is during Sonic X where he turns Dark Sonic. In Japanese version, there's barely even music and Sonic tries to hide it with a smile on his face but when Dark Sonic appears, it's the only moment where he pushes his emotions into destruction.
These two are brothers and no one can convince me otherwise.

I felt that too, the worst was when me and my family buried my Dad. I felt so sick like I was going to pass out or get really really sick. I felt like I could have done better to keep him around longer even though I knew it wasn’t in my control.

As someone who’s had panic attacks in the past, I’m so glad to see how Shadow handled the situation with such care. It’s not easy having a panic attack, and the hyperventilating makes it so much worse, and add everything Sonic went through and the fact that he’s fully aware that the fault is all his…good Chaos, he needs a break..

We have never seen sonic started crying or having depression emotions like this ever (nor even mario) and even though this isn’t canon, just seeing him like this its like his first time having such strong, heavy, deep sad emotions that it makes him start hyperventilating.
And you seriously cant blame for feeling like this because he made one big dangerous mistake by hitting the shard and have all his friends live in different multiverses which he tries to fix it the best he can, but then ends up making another mistake from trusting someone and making him feel so stupid because he shouldn’t listen to shadow. There are only two times in sonic history that he cried. Once when he failed to save his uncle chuck and twice when he left earth and had to leave Chris behind. And then technically, there was a third time where he was stuck on a boat, and he had a full-blown panic attack.

A flaw in sonic is that he is made by Sega to be flawless and positive. It is okay to be vulnerable, we as humans need to know that. Shadow is misunderstood as a careless edgelord when he does have compassion. He is not a heartless asshole, he does care about others, he just has his own way of showing it, and it is not as radiant as Sonic’s.
This was better than the actual one ngl. It could have gave shadow more potential and show that he has shown his true self.
I'd LOVE for this to be in the show, but I know that's highly unlikely.

I hope something like this happens in the beginning of Part 3 of Sonic Prime, cause the last scene we saw with Part 2 was that Sonic put his hands up to his face as if he was about to cry, and Idk, but to me, a scenario like this would be likely cause it would set the tone for Part 3.
