- A West Palm Beach father was taken to jail after leaving his toddler in a hot car on a day when temperatures hovered at around 92 degrees.
Raul Fernandez was charged with two counts of child neglect after police said he left his 3-year-old daughter in a hot car for more than 30 minutes.

Yah, a lot of people have lost their damn mind. We have moms loosing their cool and shaking their kids or even the dads. We got babies over dosing, shooting themselves or their friends or family and it’s absolutely herendouse. It’s scares the crap out of me what parents are doing to their kids. I’d never in a million years do what the Daybells did to their children. Forgetting about your kid is quite common. Parents are so stressed out they forget to strap them in seats. I can’t tell how many times a saw kids loose in the car going through Mc Donald’s parking lot or at a stop light. There a major disconnect. Parents didn’t get taught important lessons and have to learn it as an adult. Unfortunately as adults we don’t get a pass at forgetting things like little kids do. I’m glad the baby was ok. I was left in a hot car all the time growing up. I never thought I’d potentially die sitting in it. Can we also factor in the fact that it was gotten hotter every summer, in 2000 in Cali is when the heat started to melt tires on back packs and flip flops. It’s 2024 and last year the highest temp was 120. I don’t remember summers being that hot when I was this kids age. Poor kid poor dad poor mom because had the dad been on drugs they would have said. Parents are not perfect and if we keep forcing perfection on the plates the room for error could be disastrous. We need to educate parents now because things have changed immensely. Being beat now was a normal punishment. Kids were outside more. We have the internet ruining our kids too so yah. We’re all struggling. I hope I never go through this because it would eat me alive.
NO EXCUSE. You're a parent, if you forget about your kid, that's neglect. Intent means nothing.
How in the H do people forget their children and animals (Dogs) inside a closed hot freaking car? Especially here in Florida. I'm in N. Florida & the temperature is 90+ today! Shalom

Over 300 children have died in hot cars in the last decade. Mother's get worse jail time than father's because judges say there should have been "maternal instinct" involved.
