My mother and I find it so sad that after such a wonderful career in the acting profession that a decent headstone has not been put in place. I loved his portrayal as Marley in A Christmas Carol. My mother met him whilst performing at the Churchill Theatre, Bromley. She said he was a nice man! R.I.P. Frank Finlay ❤

Hi Paul, Frank Finlay had three children Daniel, Cathy and Stephen Finlay is his son who sadly died at 48. Surely his two children could sort a head stone for their dad, it’s so sad to see he has been left there like that.

There may be a good, private, reason why no headstone ahs been put in place. It took me 6 years before I felt able to put a headstone on my mothers grave. Huge amount of grief played a big part in that, and the planning and putting that headstone on the grave felt like I was putting a great big full stop on her life. I just couldn't seem to do that final thing.
Obviously, eventually, things happened and I felt I needed to find my brave and do that final thing for her. It took an enormous amount of bravery, but the place I ordered the stone from was SO amazing and so gentle with me, even explaining that it wasn't as unusual as I might have thought. Many people have their own reasons for not placing a gravestone after their loved ones have passed. So, *people reading* please don't judge the remaining family of Mr. Finley. They may have reason for not yet putting that gravestone in place. I hope they can eventually do it, just because I know what relief I felt once I saw the stone in place on my mothers grave. It was an emotional moment, but I felt that my mom was there, telling me "Well done, sweetheart" . Please don't judge the relatives, they will have their reasons.
Apologies for the length of this comment.
Sending hugs and love to those who need to feel it today ~ Cobs. x

Some years ago i wrote frank a letter via BBC tv and asked them to pass it onto him, which they kindly did on my behalf. Not too long after a long white envelope dropped on my doormat, containing a signed black and white photograph of frank, looking very serious. He signed it best wishes, john, Frank Finlay. He thanked me for my kind words as id told him in my letter he was my favourite Van Helsing and also one of my favourite actors. Such a nice man and fabulous actor. And very much missed 😢

Having spent time in the U.K. over the years, I do recognize this gentleman as being a very fine actor.
Stephen Finlay - an actor, writer and artist in his own right, was Frank and Doreen Finlay's son.
He passed away in 2004, and Frank lost his wife Doreen in 2005.
I can't begin to imagine what two losses so close together might feel like...
It's sad that Doreen and Frank have been without a headstone for so long.
The reasons for this may be many, however, I still find it heartbreaking.
THANK You for yet another brilliant clip, Paul!💕

Bouquet of Barbed Wire remains one of my favourite series. Frank Finlay's character was so creepy. In the early 2000s when on holiday in Torquay with my late partner, we met Frank Finlay a couple of Sundays mornings strolling along the prom. He raised his straw hat and wished us a good morning. I almost swooned, he was a good looking man 🤩. How sad he still has no headstone.

      @elisabethhopson5639 Год назад

@@janetpendlebury6808 You are right to say they are not needed, but people tend to walk over gaps if there is no headstone, through ignorance. Paul was appealing for other actors to help out, however, I would have thought there would have been money left in Frank's bank account that should have paid for a headstone by his solicitors, or appointed executors. Obviously there was a funeral, otherwise they would not be in a grave, so there must have been enough money for that. It just looks unfinished and a bit odd that's all. Why have a grave and no headstone?

Frank Was a lovely human being and a gentleman, as well as a really brilliant actor! My husband came from Farnworth, and his mother while still living there, regularly used to see him and pass the time of day with him. She said “ being such a great Actor you might think he had aires and graces! Thought he was above the rest of us! But he was lovely! A really nice Gentleman, always with a smile..and so good looking!”. I’m also saddened to just see the original grave marker in place, and tarnished after 7 yrs. He had a son Steven Francis, who died aged 48, and I think that’s his grave next to his father, but there WERE two daughters too. As you so rightly say, we don’t know the family dynamics…and it
Could even be that Frank told his children not to waste money on fripperies of a grave stone etc…OR his daughters can’t afford one. But to me, whether there is a stone or not, and yes they can be expensive…..some flowers or an evergreen shrub wouldn’t cost the earth..or some polish to show up the couples name better on the cross.
Regarding getting some actors or similar to club together for a gravestone, I have a feeling any family would have to be contacted to ask permission! Not 100% on that, but get a feeling you do…..otherwise we will have to try a go fund me…as there may be other famous people you have visited who have no memorial marker too…. That was really interesting Paul (as always! 😘) but it has left me feeling sad….. I’ve already put aside money for my sons to put a
Small marker up for me…tried to think of everything and write my wishes down…..even added “please plant bulbs!” As they both live some distance away, so I know they won’t really feel like driving couple hundred miles to bring flowers!
So sorting it myself! Lol….what are we like!? Dear oh dear…we think we are immortal when young, then getting older, losing friends and relatives, you suddenly become more aware that actually you aren’t! 🙀 Thanks for all you do for us Paul…someone else called you a Superstar and said you should be a tv presenter. I agree on both counts, except I’m
Greedy, and don’t want to lose seeing your lovely smiley face on here, and the “Fink I’ve found it” hand gesture! Your OUR Superstar…but wouldn’t hold you back if you got offered something you’d like to do. Take care, stay safe driving here there and everywhere! Love and light! Helen 🙋‍♀️🥰👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻😻🙏🦋🦋🦋XXX

Thank you as always. And yes it is sad to see a marker but we will never know the circumstances to why. I only say this through my experience. My sister and I spent 11 years looking for my grandfathers grave. (He died before we were born). We were upset to find his grave with no headstone or marker. Now the lady who worked at London City Cemetery informed us she found our great grandmother. The location was three graves away. There she laid with a beautiful headstone and what I call all the trimmings (the stones and edging). On looking she died two months before my grandfather. We could only come to the conclusion money was spent for hers and money had run out as certainly not expecting my grandfather to die soon after. Saying all that, you Paul have kept his memory alive. ❤

He was born in Farnworth where I have lived for the past 39 years , his Mum lived in a house just a 5 minute walk from mine , my ex hubby used to play football on the little green near his Mums house when he was little with his friends and they would often see Frank pull up outside in a Rolls Royce when he was visiting his Mum. He would always have a kick about with the lads . My ex said he was a lovely man with no airs and graces . Loved his work , especially Bouquet of Barbed Wire . So sad to see that his final resting has no proper headstone .

Mutual thinking 😢 I was going to comment that , but took the words out of mouth, yes frank Finlay deserves respect 🫡 how much he did for his country Great Britain 🇬🇧 I’m sure he must grandchildren or nephews, nieces , of there are family members 😢 it’s sad reality of this life unfortunately for some 😢

Hi Paul, it's sad . When we went back to England in 1984 we went to put flowers on my grandparents in Walsall and found that my uncle who was buried in 1979 had no head stone either it upset my mum and all us . I had a few words with my cousins and my aunts who were still living and asked why. My uncle wasn't married he was in an institution because he wasn't well . I kept in contact with him even though he found it hard he never forgot me and my sister. But me being older and married myself now it upset me alot . We got a headstone done for him and now he can be found and remembered by my family. I haven't been back home so we get photos sent to see if he is being kept clean and flowers. My grandparents to . All are passed now my mum , dad and sister I'm the only one who came to Australia 54 years alive now 65 . Thankyou for what you do love it. God bless you keep safe and well from Karen in Australia x🐈🙏🥰🐨🦘🇭🇲💖
