If you drive a Ferrari like the way you drive the 720s it’ll also break!! I purchased a 458 six months ago with only 2000 miles. I put 500 miles on it within a week. Week two of ownership the limp mode came on which was very embarrassing considering I was trying impress my then girlfriend. I had it towed. Luckily, it has a year bumper to bumper warranty. Before this, I also had a McLaren 570 for a year, put about 8000 miles on it, it was a daily. The only serious issue I had with it after six months of ownership was the car failure to recognise the ignition key, which was covered under warranty. So with my short experience of ownership of both McLaren and Ferrari i will not advise anyone to put more than 2000 miles a year on a Ferrari. With a McLaren, it’s more comfortable and easy to drive so putting 6 to 8000 miles yearly as a daily driver is totally acceptable as it’s seems to be a more reliable. This is just my opinion.
My 720S was junk. Multiple repair shop visits and nothing got fixed. The AC system died, The doors leaked water, the doors didn't seal wind noise, the panel gaps were RIDICULOUS, constant electrical issues that would vanish and reappear, power mirror button broke, articulating guages would go haywire and retract for no reason at all, sport mode unavailable at times, sometime the entire dashboard would be off but the car is still running. That, with the fact that McLaren has been producing a new version vehicle every other year is causing the value of predecessors to depreciate much faster.

I see videos about the Mclaren 720s and 765LT and all I can say is that it’s just like any other car. There are good ones that work great and them some come out factory lemons! All manufacturers have these problems. So I am not discouraged from owning one at all! I really hope I get to become an owner soon! Buy one for half the price for a 18 month old and get the factory warrantee then your ok,same with Ferrari and Lamborghini, you think they don't go wrong ? Of course they do
I'm confused as to how you can praise the car so highly and it's clearly of inferior quality. Clearly trying to justify the ownership and exorbitant cost of something that is completely unreliable.
I am praising the model. Not my particular car. I know plenty of owners who haven’t had issues. Like the current orange one on loan. It’s absolutely amazing and no issues.
You are absolutely right. He knows lots of owners that have had a good experience. Really? How many? Plus, he's looking at buying another!!!! He also said Ferrari's go wrong, Lamborghini's go wrong. He should really qualify that with numbers, otherwise it's just bollocks. Do the other cars lock you inside? Do the other cars have irregular wind gaps in their panels? There's a reason Mclaren's depreciate like a stone & I personally don't think it has anything to do with new models coming out. That's just what a someone trying to flog one would say, rather than it being because they're haphazardly made crap. A 300 grand car that's luck of the draw!!!!???

That is why more than 70% of al Porsche cars ever build are still driving today. McLaren spill out 75% developed models quicker than rabbits are mating. Early issues( this being the time you want to just drive and drive and drive your new supercar), unreliability (makes you fear on driving the car and pushing it to its limit every day ) and then with added models every year predictable huge depreciation. Explains why majority buy and drive this cars on a short city street for show. You don't spend a 1/4 million to pray no warning light pops after a race or worst during a 300 miles trip. Spend another 25000 buy a golf just in case it doesn't start in the morning.
It's really unfortunate that beautiful and ultra-expensive cars like this tend to be relatively unreliable overall. I'm very hopeful about the NSX for that reason. I expect it will prove more reliable than most supercars.
What s pain in the @!#$& it must be. Honestly I'd rather sacrifice a bit of performance against more reliability. I don't know what super cars are the most reliable right now, if a 911 or an R8 for example. Faults kill the pleasure IMHO.
as you say they drive great, but it's all for nothing if they constantly break down. All those I know who have bought one, have rid themselves of it within a year. never to go back. I could relay some truly shocking stories. they are not on radar any more. a big pass. good post.
So many components are under engineered on these things that a warranty is not an option but a nessesity. It would be especially frustrating if you just came out of a Porsche GT3/GT2 or a late model Ferrari. The horrible resale on McLarens shows what the market feels about the build quality

Good to know, I have my 458 to almost six years and I use it daily, now it has almost 115,000km, and zero problems, I was considering a 720s, but outside the performance, I only hear negative points from the point of view of the owners !!
My96XJ Dragtimes and streetspeed and many other have good experiences with them . Now the yellow triangle is s safe mode , when people started a cold car up and try to beat the piss off it , the engine will protect itself and put the car on limp mode until the car get into operating temp. My Bmw is notorious for that .
It seems like most English brands have these continuing reliability issues that have been going on for decades, its a pity because they have built amazingly beautiful and great driving cars

@@MoreThanCars your car your spec is spot on and after spending in excess of 200k on it, it should work especially in warranty when ever you want. You should not be worried about using it. I completely agree but not putting it out there doesn’t highlight something the brand need to improve on. Update today..... watch part two when it’s uploaded
Bang for your buck, yes it’s hard to argue with them but it’s a bit of a false economy, they are known to be hugely unreliable with several major issues reported, cost of parts and maintenance is ridiculous and they loose huge amounts of their value which unlike most Ferraris, they will never recover. Quite honestly, unless you are type of person who really doesn’t have to worry about money at all, then they make no sense. I think Porsche are missing a trick a little bit as they could easily build a 720s competitor and it would sell by the bucket load as customers know they will actually be able to use it reliably as a daily. Buying McLaren Halo cars is one thing, we know they have potential to at least hold value or increase but their Sport and Super series cars are just a never ending money pit.

That drop in value just means it brings it down to where more people can afford to buy one and enjoy it!
Sounds like a wiring loom issue
I had an i8 that had one replaced. You don't want a car with a replaced loom if that is the issue.
had multiple issues with RR, got my money back, did you try and get yours?
I didn’t want all back. I realise I’ve had delivery and driven it a bit. But currently it feels like a battle. Dealer or McLaren don’t want the car.
@@MoreThanCars I had my RR for 6 months and only drove it for 2 months (1/2 weeks periods), they changed half the car parts but it kept giving issues. They didn't want the car back but via court case they had to give me everything plus interest.
Sorry to hear that, I am a big Mclaren fan and these issues put me off from thinking about getting one.
Thank you Ian, it’s such a shame when you want to support a British company but they don’t seem to care about there customers. We shall see how it goes.
@@MoreThanCars keep us updated
I see videos about the Mclaren 720s and 765LT and all I can say is that it’s just like any other car. There are good ones that work great and them some come out factory lemons! All manufacturers have these problems. So I am not discouraged from owning one at all! I really hope I get to become an owner soon! Great video and thanks for telling us your experience with your 720s!
Well there is a difference btw 1 rotten apple from 100 apples and 99 rotten apples from 100 apples. But I think the QC is improving overtime for mclaren
Sir I’m very interested to know what you have to say but the music makes it difficult to hear you. Please do over without the music.
Yes. Noted will improve. Watch part 2
Buy one for half the price for a 18 month old and get the factory warrantee then your ok,same with Ferrari and Lamborghini, you think they don't go wrong ? Of course they do
I needed to here this video, it's doesn't matter how much money you have, your car will break down thats the way cars are made.
Wouldn’t risk doing a rod trip in it ... but don’t let that detract from buying one???
Not many people drive them large distances.
@@MoreThanCars which is a shame. Also why I won't buy one. Almost every Euro road trip I've done there's been a McLaren with a problem.
@@MoreThanCars btw sorry to hear you've had problems. Know many Mac owners and feel like McLaren just take them for granted.
Thanks to Instagram and this I have made some traction. Update coming tomorrow. 👍
Good ole British engineering. Sounds like an 80s Jag to me.
🤣🤣
Don’t know how they have such a nice factory that builds such sh!tty reliability.
An 80's jag will have you on the side of the road broken down over and over, this has never happened to him, annoying errors aside
Limp mode though.
@@MoreThanCars I had it a couple of times times with mine too, like a 90s pc I'd just keep restarting till it worked :) goodluck with the LT spider it's what I want next as well!
I can appreciate a man who has
love for Heath ledgers Joker.
The music is absolutely unnecessary , pointless and horrible. Enjoyed the content though !
Reminds me of my 5 (yes 5) TVR Griffith 500's. Lovely car in their day but would never risk a long journey in one. How annoying for you. Back it and get another. Btw, turn the bloody music down!!
had my Chim for 15 years - failed once - £20 ign amp failed - drive to europe every year over 3,400 miles to Italy and back - no issues...
A rich British dude with a photo of the Joker in the background.
Are you implying you're actually a super villain?
Shhhh must keep this quiet.. 🤫
The resemblance is quite striking you know! 🤔🧐🥺😳😂🤣
Its british.. so very elegant, nice design (kind of clinic but ok) but with a lot of problems
I think you've got every reason to be pissed off at that. Still - would love one in my garage!
Sad but not surprising. McLaren needs a wake up call. Reliability is terrible!!!
Got the Aston as the daily 🤣🤣 but yes I get what you mean 👍
But Porsche is so ugly
Sorry I gave up after a few minutes because of the music.
Does anyone know the name of the song ??
God, as exotic as this car is, I still would never want one if it came with this many headaches.
turn down the music so we can hear what you are mubbling
Yes noted. Watch part 2
R8 and 911s are gods compared to other cars in terms reliability
subscribed on the promise you stop the music on the next one x
Music stopped. Watch part two
as you say they drive great, but it's all for nothing if they constantly break down.
What on earth were you thinking? The music destroyed this video
I don't care what the car is. If you can't trust it, it's a pain in the arse.
should NOT happen any of that not acceptable when over a £200,000 car I have stuck 2 the germans never 1 issue with their performance cars currently I drive a Porsche GT3 RS driven it down 2 south spain several times without issue super car 2 drive and plenty of vroom!! u should be getting compensated for your huge inconvenience!! cheers.
Update video coming tomorrow! 👍
Porsche engines can and do grenade, though. It's why I got rid of mine.
No issues with german cars? You'd make quite the comedian, _mein freund_
Time to sell sounds like Lemon 🍋 on Speed!
I’d like to get some miles out of it first. Will be going as soon as the spider arrives.
A great video, one of our members has a 650s and was thinking of trading up to a 720, we’ll pass on this video. All the best ✌🏻
I can't hear you, too much music
i took my 2020 nsx to vancouver , toronto, winnipeg and its still going good , i told you people exotic supercars that are mclaren , lambo, ferrari they only look at looks and speed but not reliability, honda nsx always looks for everything, why do u think honda has engines like boats, lawnmower, bikes, etc etc
How many things have actually gone wrong?
A lot. Watch one of the other videos I explain all of them. Main one has been engine issues (software)
Good to know, I have my 458 to almost six years and I use it daily, now it has almost 115,000km, and zero problems, I was considering a 720s, but outside the performance, I only hear negative points from the point of view of the owners !!
Look 3 comments up :-)
StreetSpeed717 daily drives his 720 with no problems and has put several thousand Miles on it since new
and now it has 800whp and is considering a turbo upgrade now
Forget streetspeed go watch dragtimes vids he beats the crap out of his 720s all the time and hasn’t had a hiccup yet!
Name of the song please!
Angel Dust - AGST
😂 i always feel it’s normal to total meltdown for a 3800cc car to act like it’s ah hypercar lol the displacement is just out there and it’s way to small - it is a mistake.
Really good you done this video telling the truth about your experience known friends own one have had the same issues
What’s the name of intro song

the British do not know how to make good quality cars they can make fast ones but not quality Italians and Germans are the best builders of cars
Given the vast amount of info available on the internet, why would you even dream of buying a McLaren? Just hire or lease them if you're that excited about it.
Cant beat the Senna that caught fire. Now that was sad.
That was terrible and I don’t understand why he’s not talking about it in more detail.
@@MoreThanCars I know, heartbreaking to see that happen to Salomondrin's car.
Maclaren is the same as alfa in the 80s. Great cars, crap reliability
It's a MC Laren thing, my dads 570s was in the shop almost every month 😂😂😂
I want to get a 720s this summer but I think the 488 GTB would be a better car...
The 720 is a better car. Certainly quicker. But as I’ve always said, if I did another. I’d want a second hand high mileage one with known how it was used.
@@MoreThanCars I was looking for below 5000 miles Cars Not Brand a new one haha it's gonna be my first Supercar im so excited for it 😍 thankyou for the answer and I Will Be going for a 720s as well but I can get a good deal on my uncles huracan performante as well but I still think the 720s Will be the best car but the Performante the most raw Car to drive, all 3 Amazing Cars but so different in the experience...
It's not negative but it is negative, the only reason your having a 720 spider is to get an lt slot, thats how it comes across,
To spend 1\4 of a million on something in hope of getting something else
Crazy marketing by them but hey it works and is making them serious cash and a quick turnover even if it's tarnishing the brand
The 720lt will be bonkers fast but you can make anything you want bonkers fast with 1/4million
People want the lt because it's will hopefully be limited and exclusive and not drop 50k in a few months while being stuck in a garage for the 10th time.
Totally agree with your comment, but Ive been obsessed with the 675lt and thankfully im in a position where I can make every effort to try and obtain a 750LT (or what ever its going to be called). Along with attempting to bring everyone on the really world journey of owning these cars. Not many channels show the true experiences you have with them. I am aiming to do this.
@@MoreThanCars your car your spec is spot on and after spending in excess of 200k on it, it should work especially in warranty when ever you want. You should not be worried about using it.
If it was any other object it would be unacceptable and the company would be going bump or they would be doing something to improve it.
The crazy thing is your car is not uncommon, there seems to be alot of issues regarding the brand and the residuals are absolutely being battered.
If you had worked all your life to afford just 1 great car when you retire and this is how you got treated it would not be acceptable so it shouldn't be acceptable if your loaded just so you can get on the good list
MoreThanCars but videos like this turn buyers off. You get that, right? I appreciate you putting it out, but you’re not helping the brand at all.
I completely agree but not putting it out there doesn’t highlight something the brand need to improve on. Update today..... watch part two when it’s uploaded
Why oh why do you need the awful music....? Had to turn off, couldn’t stand it.
Yes noted. Watch update 2.
Hmmm, hard to argue those points.
@@MoreThanCars I love McLaren, I think they've are awesome, but really, when it comes to customer I think they are taking the piss!
No music in background would be lot nicer to listen to you
McLaren reliability the same as TVR just 4 times the price.
That Joker behind you looks really creepy.
Gt2 rs just because
Ignore the triangle!
Here's my question to you, sir. If you know people who own McLaren 720s and has never had any problems with it (and neither has yours broken down to the point you can't drive it), then what prompted you to make this video? So, for you, not only does the 720s has problems with its launching capabilities, but with its functionality/usability as well? Smh.
As I explained in the video the car goes into limp mode so even though it’s drivable. It’s not exactly what I’ve paid for.
@@MoreThanCars
Well, then, don't you think it makes sense to let the car go, if you're experiencing those issues and feel you're not getting what you paid for? I don't get it! If I paid $300k for a car and I'm having such bad experiences with is as you described, I would sell it.
Or I could get it fixed so I can use it?
If u don't want it can I have it?
Well you made the classic mistake of driving it !
