I ADORE Freddie’s story...! Her situation literally embodies what so many hope to move to LA and do.. I am so happy for her.. she took a chance and the stars aligned in her favor... I couldn’t imagine this show without her and Kris...they’re amazing!
Um. Fred said her income was 'going away'. I think internships aren't paid. Perhaps its because companies think they're training you and so they shouldn't have to pay you.
A lot of people who worked at BuzzFeed make videos after they leave saying BuzzFeed takes advantage of their employees and it's not a good place to work. Their model is to bring on young creative minds, overwork them and drain them dry of ideas, then pressure them to either take on more responsibility or quit. It sounds like a scummy buisness and i encourage everyone to look into this if you're considering applying for a job.
Offlineable welcome to being a video producer in capitalism. Sounds expected of a company like buzzfeed to do that. Scientists at a pharmaceutical company experience the same quandary when it comes to their inventions (medicines). *The part that actually sucks actually is that employees lose their patent/trademark/copyright RIGHTS when they create under a company.* It's not like freddie and kristin were in the position to NEGOTIATE _shared ownership and rights of & shared profit royalties from their content on their employment contract_ when they were hired. Meaning, buzzfeed takes advantage of the vulnerable. Watch gothic sapphire's (I can't spell Safiyya's name) video and the video with 2 white women about why they left buzzfeed to get the gist.
Freddie’s story is crazy to me!! It’s crazy spontaneous how from one meeting in a week, you moved across the country for a job that your now so successful in!!😭💓
for some reason i read "lost their jobs" instead of "got their jobs" and "got fired" instead of "got hired" from the thumbnail and for a moment i was hella shook
This gives me a lot of insight, thank you! I would love to hear more stories like this, not just from the ladylike members but also from other groups from BuzzFeed.
Fascinating stories! I really appreciate your detail because oftentimes "origin stories" like these are kept under wraps! I have a Pop Culture Media and Community News blog based in Miami with 3000 international readers I've built over the last 5 years.I'm definitely going to apply those tips to publications I want to contribute to!
This is a great video for all those wanting to be in similar jobs. And thank you Kristin for remembering the luck part. That's important to understand in this business, sometimes plain hard work doesn't pay off, you need a little bit of luck in there as well.
I would love to hear how the rest of ladylike started at buzzfeed! Love you guys and am awed by the role models you’ve become in my life, so thank you!!!
I love hearing how you all got your jobs. It’s very helpful for newbies to the industry and people that want career changes and finding their purpose. Thanks ladies😀
love the view you took on this video, its inspirational and motivating to see young women take roads that are not common to the everyday path society says is right. I personally would love to hear from everyone at lady like talk about how they got to where they are now, the struggles and risks. Keeping it real is buzz feeds charm, keep going ladies, cause your rocking it!!
As I was watching this video the saying "As a woman of color, you have to work twice as hard." kept popping into my head. Kristin and Freddie's resume's up until Buzzfeed were so different when it comes to experience.
I would love to hear how the rest of the Lady Like team got hired bc this is exactly what I was thinking. Kristin got in due to a friend despite having no prior media experience and Freddie, despite other friends and experience still had to prove herself to multiple networks. It’s incredibly disappointing for LA’s business world (supposed to be so much more inclusive, diverse, and progressive).
As a woman of color, you have to put in minimal effort in high school and college and you will get hired by a big company so they can show how diverse they are.
Thank you so much for doing this video, I’ve wrestled with the idea of applying for buzzfeed for quite sometime and always let me fear of the unknown get in the way i would really enjoy learning how the other ladies of ladylike got their start at buzzed!!
I'm currently finishing off my Master's degree and I was feeling really down because I felt like I had no chances at anything. This video came at the right time and I cannot thank you enough. I feel more motivated to get myself out there and apply to jobs and stop underestimating myself and my potential.
I think should be a mini series! And maybe it could feed into a ladylike career development series. I think it would be super beneficial to see how women in this industry got their start and any tips would be AMAZING for young women to get the ball rolling theirselves. I got ideas, so liiiike hire me if you want 🤣
I’m not sure if ladylike would even be willing to try this, but it would be hilarious if you guys tried to give each other or yourselves acrylic nails. Lol
They need to make a video on if Dying your hair with crayons really works lol OR have Kristen and the other girls with straight hair, try wearing african braids in their hair for a week and documenting how they feel wearing it
BuzzFeed looks like such a cool, fun and exciting but very serious place to work. I just love how you guys (and the rest of the BuzzFeed crew) are like family. I would definitely love to hear how the rest of LadyLike got their starts at BuzzFeed as well. Great video ladies!!
This was actually helpful advice, especially at the end about bring properly prepared before sending emails, LOL. I'm currently on my grind (not for a media job) and trying not to be annoying to people in my industry, so I appreciate it. TY
I would love to see a Ladylike video explaining their jobs and what they do at Buzzfeed. I am a little confused on that. A mini follow me around vlog explaining parts of the day would be a cool way to add character and some Ladylike pizzazz to the video. Some people will have a Netflix and chill night, but instead I have Ladylike and chill nights! Hope someone from Ladylike sees this! I want the team to know that Ladylike means the world to literally millions of people and that the best part of my day is when my phone lights up with a RUclips notification that Ladylike posted a video! It makes me unexplainably happy! Love you so much!
WoW, you both kick a$$! You are the kind of people I'm completely intimidated by when applying for jobs. I would love to see the other LadyLike Babes tell their stories.
This was a great video!! I used to think that I too would want to work for Buzzfeed but after watching this, I feel I am completely unprepared for that field of work but I will continue to be a dedicated fan. Love you guys!!!
Omg yes please do more how I got a job at buzzfeed videos 😱😭 as someone very much interested in the company and in general the profession of online content creation) but with no guts yet to put myself out there for criticism, this video gave me just that much more motivation to take that risk. Thanks to both of you for sharing your stories ❤️
I want to work at buzzfeed so badly. I have trouble getting a job because I have high functioning autism and buzzfeed is my dream job. My job coach emailed buzzfeed but no one responded. I’m hoping to apply to an internship despite the fact I’m not in college but I don’t know how to do that. I live in New York City.
Hink the reason I mention that is because in the brochure I got at job training it says 80-90% of adults with autism are unemployed. It’s making it difficult for me to interview and get a job. There are many companies that have a specific interview process made for people with autism where you can show your abilities (Microsoft, SAP, Walgreens, just to name a few), but to my knowledge buzzfeed does not. I think if they did they could find some really great employees who wouldn’t have gotten hired the traditional way.
Honestly I really like hearing stories on how people got hired at their jobs so thanks and I would enjoy if they other girls would share their stories too :)
It is all about determination and sometimes leaving your comfort zones. I know that 5 years ago living in my country of Australia I was comfortable, but not happy with my work and wanted to take a leap for once. I did it back in 2011 by jumping on the first plane I've ever flown with all by my lonesome and arrived in London. So jumping 4 years after that I decided to MOVE countries- lots of stress, money and emotions but I'm 5 years in and I'm loving it and loving my job :)I want to also say this was something no one or even myself thought I would do.
love love love this, but i’d also like to hear more about everyone’s previous experience. what are your degrees in? did you come in with a lot of skills or did you learn once you started working? what sort of jobs/internships did you have before this? i know you guys touched on it a bit, but maybe just a lil more. i love this though!
I loved this video!! I was looking for a video like this to see what types of previous experience or college majors would help me get a job like this one day. I would love to see more videos like this from all different aspects of buzzfeed. I’m actually really curious about what majors Fred and Kristin had in college. Super helpful and fun to watch!
To the 1% of you that see this comment I hope your biggest dream comes true. Anything is possible all you gotta do is set your mind to it!! 💪 My dream is to hit 15k ☺️ have a lovely day/night 💕
They need to make a video on if Dying your hair with crayons really works lol OR have Kristen and the other girls with straight hair, try wearing african braids in their hair for a week and documenting how they feel wearing it. I have TONS of video ideas. If you need another black girl on your team PM me lol
Their hair gonna be falling out and thinning by the end of the week if they do that lmao there’s a reason why those are a black hairstyle created to manage kinky afro textured hair
Ben Long I have thin, straight hair and I got African braids. I had them for about 1.5-2 weeks and they never fell out because they braided it so tightly.
Great Video. Many thanks to Kristin and Freddie for sharing their experience with us. I have a crazy career story too that probably no one, aside from my parents, knows about! I would like to know how Devon and Jen got their jobs at buzzfeed, and how “Lady Like” started... Thanks again and keep up the good work 🤗
This was cool to watch, not least because it confirmed for me that buzzfeed is very much not the ideal job for me, despite how much I enjoy its content. Thanks for sharing!
I ADORE Freddie’s story...! Her situation literally embodies what so many hope to move to LA and do.. I am so happy for her.. she took a chance and the stars aligned in her favor... I couldn’t imagine this show without her and Kris...they’re amazing!

Next week:
*WHY I LEFT BUZZFEED*
Mr. Baldi omg 💀
Mr. Baldi 😂😂😂
Word
Cassie W buzzfeed is crap
Buzzfeed is garbage...every video has to do with racism, being gay, feminist, and fat shaming lol
me: oh sweet! ned helped freddie get her foot in the door! [starts watching new try guys video] and now he's getting a corset tied around his waist!
e .zool haha yeah just watched that
But didn’t the try guys quit buzzfeed? I’m kinda confused
Lily Faith Unique they did quit and start their own company
e .zool he did not like it...not one bit
Samaria Taylor Eugene slay everything 😂😂😭
_(one year later)_ "Why We Left BuzzFeed"
jalabi99 why wait a year!?
@@swagmuffin1612 2 years and it's here.🌝
when the try guys leave and buzzfeed is tired of the “why i left buzzfeed” videos
Savannah Dryden
lol “remember we hired people too!”
Dang! Can you imagine flying ACROSS the COUNTRY for an INTERNSHIP!?
Jenny Tam I'm pretty sure BuzzFeed internships are paid so it's like moving for a job
Some students go to other countries for internships
Um. Fred said her income was 'going away'. I think internships aren't paid. Perhaps its because companies think they're training you and so they shouldn't have to pay you.
kcanded www.glassdoor.com/Intern-Salary/BuzzFeed-Internship-Salary-E496875.htm interns at BuzzFeed make an average of 15 an hour
I move to another city in a month for an internship. My friend goes to Finnland for an internship....
Me when they said Ned was a current try guys 😂😱
Megan Pritchett probably prefilmed
Tara Webster I know that I just found it funny. All their video are filmed ahead of time 😊
Well he is still a try guy. They just don't work for BuzzFeed anymore but they kept the name and everything
Nessa Aïsha true and now a dad 😂
Freddie's lipstick! Tis' a lewk
She’s so stunning and beautiful that lip color goes so well with her skin color
agreed. also, the hair, the earrings, the black jumpsuit/matching separates - a LEWK
Honestly it looks like a wet n wild color I have so Freddie knows what’s up

Damn I heard that same thing from Amazon as an engineer. These companies are really taking advantage
Of course they won’t speak on that though... instead they’ll wait until they leave and then talk about how awful and terrible it was like hypocrites.
tpamel also safiya said she wasn't allowed to interact with the audience by replying to their comments
Wait how did I not know Fred was an NYC girl?!!!😍😍
Lissa Lu (210lislu) im honestly surprised I didn't know this either lol thanks for the info!!❤️
I didn’t know either. She sure took to the LA accent well. 🤣
I kept saying the same thing only because she didn't have the New York accent
Jaqueta Hollins news flash, people in New York don’t have “New York” accents.
Can we get a video on how Chantel, Devin, or Jen got their jobs at Buzzfeed? I love your content Ladylike!
freddie’s style is so great, what an icon♥️
Freddie’s story is crazy to me!! It’s crazy spontaneous how from one meeting in a week, you moved across the country for a job that your now so successful in!!😭💓

for some reason i read "lost their jobs" instead of "got their jobs" and "got fired" instead of "got hired" from the thumbnail and for a moment i was hella shook
Jeez they must be getting desperate for new employees 😂😂
Becky Xxx I was thinking that too, sort of an advert for applying to the company
Trista Ishmael Ik 🤦♀️
I've applied to BuzzFeed (both in LA & NYC) a total of 9 times. I'm about to pull a Freddie.
This gives me a lot of insight, thank you! I would love to hear more stories like this, not just from the ladylike members but also from other groups from BuzzFeed.
blackbunny This is a super idea! As/Is, Pero Like, Tasty....
I love the green and red theme of Kristin’s outfit! Including lipstick! And Freddie is looking epic!!
I swear I read "how we got fired" 😂
Bruh samee
me too
Fascinating stories! I really appreciate your detail because oftentimes "origin stories" like these are kept under wraps! Sooo we’re just going to let my girl Kristin’s bra show!?!
Amour Lex ❤ I was looking for this comment! It's a bit annoying...
Amour Lex ❤ yea what's up with that!
Ladylike OKAY SUS!!!
That didn't bother ma as much as the mic wire showing, but with my history in audio, I've spent many a hours hiding mic wires.
Haven't we all seen her bra before? Doesn't bother me. 😂
I would love to hear how the rest of ladylike started at buzzfeed! Love you guys and am awed by the role models you’ve become in my life, so thank you!!!
4:13 preparation is key
Good to see two bubbly and happy go lucky women talking positively about their employer. Keep up the good work ladies :)
They applied? 😜😂💕
Kaitlin Kal Lee no
Thats what i came to comment
tightpantsJONAS that they put an application in
Beegsex
Kaitlin Kal Lee they had vaginas and were angry at white men. Lol
I love hearing how you all got your jobs. It’s very helpful for newbies to the industry and people that want career changes and finding their purpose. Thanks ladies😀
Ned- “current Try Guy” - maybe this was filmed before they left Buzzfeed?
HIII
I have always questioned buzzfeed. I went to college and everything. Im just glad I get to do things my way. Great share
OMG please do more of these because I really want to work at Buzzfeed and the more information I get the more information I get.
love the view you took on this video, its inspirational and motivating to see young women take roads that are not common to the everyday path society says is right. mragbangles kristin had no experience & freddie had media background. I bet kristin gets paid more than freddie.
I would love to hear how the rest of the Lady Like team got hired bc this is exactly what I was thinking. I'm currently finishing off my Master's degree and I was feeling really down because I felt like I had no chances at anything. This video came at the right time and I cannot thank you enough. Reckless Savage that would’ve made their hair fallout and would’ve been cultural appropriation
Kristin looks badass in this video. Green looks great on her, and her hair looks wonderful up
I'm going to work at Buzzfeed one day. Just letting you know in advance 💁🏻😂
I love Kristin’s jumpsuit, those colors look really good on her
I LOVE Freddie's earings!!
BuzzFeed looks like such a cool, fun and exciting but very serious place to work. I just love how you guys (and the rest of the BuzzFeed crew) are like family. I would definitely love to hear how the rest of LadyLike got their starts at BuzzFeed as well. Great video ladies!!
Dang. Ned is pretty great. I’m sure he is a great dad.
I’m sending this to my friend, Salien. We were JUST talking about how we want to join Buzzfeed! Here’s the juice and the squeeze! 🍊🍶🤗🥳❤️
Ohhh love Kristen’s romper and she’s not wearing a dress 😱😍
Wait nvm I think it’s a dress 🤦🏽♀️😂still love it though
This was actually helpful advice, especially at the end about bring properly prepared before sending emails, LOL. I'm currently on my grind (not for a media job) and trying not to be annoying to people in my industry, so I appreciate it. TY
Buzzfeed trying to hire people cause everyone is leaving
Kookie Kusu
Everyone left because that was the smartest thing to do
Kookie Kusu
😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Fred was determined af and now look at her. Everyone should live this way
lmao I thought the title said,”how they got fired at buzzfeed”
Fred’s lipstick looks so good. Definitely goes with her Skin Tone.
i love you all so much!!!❤️❤️
I was scrolling through the trending page and read fired instead of hired from the thumbnail and was so shocked at first 😂😂
I’ve been craving Lady like videos 😂😂❤️❤️
Lol. Love it. WTG, ladies. Luck, favor and timing is everything. As a technical/creative writer I totally get it. Congrats.
I’m just waiting for them to separate themselves from buzzfeed like the try guys did
How cool is it that they approached from such different paths but ended up at the same place!!
That was fun. Let's here everybody's hiring story. LOL
Well at least Lady Like, Pero Like & As/Is.
I would LOVE to hear how Devin and Jen got their jobs at BuzzFeed!
This helps me because when I am an adult I would love to be an intern at buzzfeed❤❤❤ thx
Kristin looks adorable!!😍 And man, Freddie really is a very dedicated, brave, badass woman with so much courage!😙
if someone from ladylike leaves their job, i will literally die.
I would love to hear Jen’s story. Actually I would love to watch anything that features Jen. She’s so amazing.
Man, the idea of working at a new media company with such a focus on clicks is wild to me.
You two have such hard yet different kinds of Hustle? I love this tbh.
I really like that. If you're not prepared, luck won't matter.
Hink because they paid for trending spot + they are SJW
The idea of getting clicks to work somewhere is why we get biased and emotion leaning articles like “questions for men” by buzzfeed.
William Scurry I can’t really understand what you are saying. Can you use proper grammar?
I wanna hear Devins experience
WoW, you both kick a$$! You are the kind of people I'm completely intimidated by when applying for jobs. I would love to see the other LadyLike Babes tell their stories.
This is such an amazing video
This was a great video!! I used to think that I too would want to work for Buzzfeed but after watching this, I feel I am completely unprepared for that field of work but I will continue to be a dedicated fan. Love you guys!!!
I really want to work at Tasty. Mostly because of the food.
Omg yes please do more how I got a job at buzzfeed videos 😱😭 as someone very much interested in the company and in general the profession of online content creation) but with no guts yet to put myself out there for criticism, this video gave me just that much more motivation to take that risk. Maria Lugo saaaame
ThePopGamer04 Yes, that would be awesome.
OF COURSE I want to hear all the lady's stories!
i thought it’s said “fired” and not hired 😂
Just some more Yeemo trash me to 😂😂
It is all about determination and sometimes leaving your comfort zones. I know that 5 years ago living in my country of Australia I was comfortable, but not happy with my work and wanted to take a leap for once. I did it back in 2011 by jumping on the first plane I've ever flown with all by my lonesome and arrived in London. Damn Freddie really shows how much leg work you gotta do for a job!! She’s such a go getter. You gotta run to what you want.
I like the African Braiding one
Ben Long I have thin, straight hair and I got African braids. I had them for about 1.5-2 weeks and they never fell out because they braided it so tightly.
Ben Long also that’s why it’s a challenge.
abookfantasy she meant African braids
Great Video. Many thanks to Kristin and Freddie for sharing their experience with us. I have a crazy career story too that probably no one, aside from my parents, knows about!
I would like to know how Devon and Jen got their jobs at buzzfeed, and how “Lady Like” started...
Thanks again and keep up the good work 🤗
Yes I do want to hear how the other ladylike girls git their jobs thanks for asking
Andember I like seeing you in these comments... keep fighting the good fight
This was GREAT. I love your stories!! I want to see more of these videos. These girls knew what they wanted, and GOT IT DONE. That's really inspiring.
Pleas make a video about how Jen and Chantel got their jobs at BuzzFeed
I love this!! Please continue sharing your personal experiences to us more!
Do Devin actually do everyone from ladylike
What? I don't understand this?
This was cool to watch, not least because it confirmed for me that buzzfeed is very much not the ideal job for me, despite how much I enjoy its content. Thanks for sharing!
I applied couple months ago.. didn’t get in RIP
IWILLKEEPTRYING
Omg does anyone else love Kirsten's outfit and that cherry necklace...........SHOOK
Working at buzzfeed must be a nightmare! I would neeeever eeeever. It’ s just the name, the label, in fact it’s staying on the computer the whole day.
I don’t know you both personally but hearing these stories I am so proud of you two
Meagan Bianca you should feel sorry for them
