I wanted to try Vren and Lord Dicknose but wasn't sure if exiling a creature from a graveyard counts as 'controlled' good to see they do actually synergise. Edit: watching again at 23:50 I missed the Cut Down and thought the second Vren's rat was from Skitter, so my original thought is correct, only things on board are 'controlled'.
I got Vren as my pre-release promo and it was insane when I was able to get it out, even with 0 other rats on the field! I am currently brewing a Vren Commander deck and it's gonna be sick. I'm also a bit sad we lost Infernal Grasp and the slow lands.

Those rats look sick. GGs Edit: After watching the video i think gnawing vermin is a better one drop because exile removal and the token Nezumi Linkbreaker leaves back when killed not being a rat. Self mill enables marshstalker faster, can trade with a 2 toughness or chump a big one and kill a 1 toughness. About new rare crafts, completely ok crafting 3 Vren (have one) because it's a great card, 3 Azure beasbinder i have doubts because despite being a decent card is bit underpowered, has 3 toughness but you never gonna block with it on open mana due to having 1 power and the ability doesn't remove a blocker just makes it weaker meaning it will still trade with marshstalker. Two drop slot is very scarce for rats. Maybe i will go with the uncommon rat that can't be blocked and draw/discard when hits just to try the deck. I just wish Tangle Colony could block and then rats would be amazing.

Vren looked real good at my prereleases. Like a slightly different version of kalitas. If it had lifelink, I think the old vamp woulda got powercreeped out.

Personally I’d use Doesn’t add up instead of phantom interference, and tangled colony instead of nezumi linebreaker, only downside is the loss of a blocker.
Yeah, tangled colony is great, as long as you are the agressor, otherwise it can be very weak card. I would need to check if there are 2 drops that are more reliable, but I think there should be some. I started here with 4x Phantoms, then went to 2, then ended up with 1, so I think it might be just not needed in this kind of deck, overall. Idea was to prevent sweepers, but not sure if it's worth slots
Yep, but it's 2 mana 1/1, as we aren't a discard deck, so very low power for an aggro deck. I consider it more of a discard card, than a rat-aggro card

Why not play 4 Lilypad Village since you only have a single noncreature blue spell. It's essentially just a better island. Only argument against it would be Sunspine I guess.

Literally made almost the same deck earlier today. Went 4 and 1. Felt so strong
