- In this episode I take my good friend Alex for a camping adventure on the inflatable dock. "Hopefully we don’t get eaten alive" I said referring to the bugs, little did I know at the time what our night would entail. Usually I am the hunter, it's a surreal feeling when you turn into the one being hunted...

Gator most likely smelled the raw chicken from when you baited the traps. Then it became a territory issue when he saw something he didn't know what it was. I would stear clear of camping on a rubber raft with chicken juice all over it. That could of turned bad quick with one bite to your raft. Next time camp closer to the beach and at least have a horn or something better to protect yourself. I would of been having grilled gator tail for dinner. Haha

Take the shell off the crabs and clean the guts and lungs off before you cook them. It makes them so much nicer to eat and your spices (not that you brought nay with you this time...) soak into the meat. Love the camping videos Bri... You should bring a pistol with you though. Good times.
Ya definately bring a pistol with you...especailly in these times as strange things are happening every minute and its always best to be prepared! than not to be! and end up becoming a memory.. ...

AWESOME video, Bri! I can't imagine how difficult it must be to have a demanding career like you do, & still have time to have FUN, while still finding the time to film your adventures for us. I know first hand how time consuming it is to make these videos.

To make baiting your traps easier use the triangle weights to attach your bait to the traps. Easy on and off and the weight helps keep the bait set. Best of luck!
I have been watching you for several months and had no idea you were a nurse also. I am an RN from Oklahoma who is fascinated with boats and fishing! I will be moving to Florida and trading my wakeboard boat in for a fishing (maybe liveabord) boat in the next year or two. I would love to meet you one day.

You can actually boil the crabs in the pan, but best steam it if you have a lid for the pan. For any seafood, the best is steaming so that the flavors remain in them. Boiling extracts the flavors from the crab so the crab has less taste after that.
Addition: If you bring a long lime, fish sauce, diced garlic, sugar, some chilies, pound them together, you will make a nice Thai sauce. Add the sauce into the raw crab, mixing thoroughly, walla, Thai cold crab. The raw crab meat is super sweet. Try it.

And then Alex was trying to hopefully pee I cringed a bit hoping we wouldn’t have heard the “dumb and dumber bathroom scene recreated” lol Anyways I love you and your vids.

Looks like a blast, Mary and i did a camping trip last weekend and the storm surge pushed the tide up to the point our island wasnt too much bigger then your raft, it was nerve racking. I had high hopes for some blue crabs but didnt see a single one.

I heard bout them Skunk Apes down there in the Everglades! When you drive Alligator Alley down there Hwy 41 I think going South out of Naples just past Evergalades City. Out on Chocoloskee Island theres a lil general store and Museum stop and ask them bout ole Bloody Ed Watson. Was a killer in the old days that met his end there had ties to Belle Star and her gang.

Hey girls here in ausie we can only take the male crabs ( bucks ) and have to be a certain size. Always cook in salt water. Put in ice water to stop the cooking. Mayonnaise and BBQ sauce served cold is a great condiment with an ice cold beer

You need a slightly bigger pot so you can boil the whole crab at once. Very cool though. I love the idea of the inflatable dock but it's too risky with wild gators around. Definitly have to have a gun for protection.

Remember, gators are more scared of you than you are of them....but what should be concerning is the gator can still take a curiosity bite of the inflatable dock (with chicken flavored juice), then you would be wading through the water to find shore.

Man that looks like a buggy area. We sailed the Hobie 16 to little tybee to go camping and we got eaten alive when the wind stopped at midnight. What brand and model is you battery pack? I see you brought a cast net. Should have brought a rod to catch a snook for dinner.
Oh do you know what the big gator is saying? IS IT KFC OR POPEYE'S? Raw chicken is gators favoriite food. You chummed him right on in. If you had been sleeping, he would have crawled up on your raft. Carry a 12ga bang stick if you are sleeping with gators.

my 7-year old son made a very philosophical observation: why crab would eat chicken? they don't even live in the same domain!
Looks like you are going to need a bigger boat or a drag along sea doo water trailer built from the hull of an old jet ski to tow all of your gear on a two jet ski trailer
what keeps gators from sliding up on that dock?
I've done my share of crabbing and when I saw you cut up that perfectly editable chicken meat I had to respond. Chicken necks and backs do the same bait job. Plus the crabs have to work harder to get the meat, which keeps them in the rings longer. Ask your local butcher or meat dept. and they'll probably give you what you need for free. Bon appetit!!!
